Happy to report the floor is still holding up 6 months after the video was made, so time will tell Especially after this upcoming winter with the freezing / thawing.

Thank you. I've been cracking my head about doing it myself with the same exact product. And you are definitely right their should be a lawsuit for false advertising on the square footage.

You got the correct kit. 2 guys I work with used this on their garage floors, the cheaper kit peels up from hot tires. The other guy used the more expensive kit, and it worked great.

I’m getting ready to do this project, I’ll also film it and we’ll see how it turns out, from what I have learned, when you install it thick you get air bubbles

Did you test the moisture content of your concrete? It is always recommended when putting epoxy on concrete could have a big part in some of the issues you encountered.

Wow, this dude does not have a clue. by looking at the finish product, you can see how thick he applied it to the floor. the bubbles are due to very thick application.

I used these same kits for a large 3 car. Ended up using 6 kits. Worst part was I took time off to do it and had to run around town trying to find more kits. Nightmare. Finished product wasn't bad. Certainly didn't get the air bubbles. But yeah I wish I went pro.

🤔 Interesting, I’ve done this years ago, but never had that happen nor heard of that problem. I’m interested in what caused it now. 💭

By pouring it directly on the concrete then scooting it around with the roller I think you built up super thick areas. Had it been put into a paint tray and rolled evenly onto the roller before applying to the floor you would have got much better even coverage imo. On the other hand I bet it truly is rock solid being that thick :)

Never put it in a paint tray, that cuts the pot time in half and you already need to be aware of the limited time to work as it is. The video doesn't say much about HOW he did the job except to say it was "by the book" but if that were true how does he have thick and thin spots right by each other. BTW there are things to complain about such as this product is 48% water and pretty short on flakes, this looks good in flakes but only because it is so many kits.

Thank you. I was about to spend $1000 on this stuff.

Those kits are now 360$, if you paid someone to do this it would cost thousands. I do agree it's frustrating that they say 400 - 500sq feet and it seems that ALL of their customers say it's half of that at best; that's lousy on Rustoleums behalf because this stuff is time sensitive and requires allot of prep and the time to do it. It also doubles the cost and potentially ruins or compromises the entire job because someone has to go buy another kit in a real hurry, and what if they don't have the same color?? You're done...

Do u think it would go better going over concrete that was previously painted?
@Gyva02
@Gyva02 Год назад
yeah having it sealed with another cheaper product first like a few cans of Kilz will make it spread further and also better seal out the possibility air bubbles

I had the same issue. I got 100-110 sq ft per bag. No where near the 200-250 on the directions.

I was considering purchasing this kit but it didn’t look like there would be ample coverage..sorry you weren’t happy with it

I’m going to use it on wood.2 thin coats.the first one with be absorbed into the wood.just like paint.2 thin coats are better than one thick coat

As a contractor when it comes to concrete floor finishes I highly suggest going to a contractor supplier. You don't have to be a rocket scientist and you'll get what professional garages use.

The info here is pretty vague, he doesn't even mention how many square feet the shop is and that is the first concern but this isn't a 2.5 car area unless the lens just distorts the picture.

I'm not buying this product after watching your video and others. In some cases it can work out good but you still need to buy at least double the usage. So by the time you buy all of the necessary tools to perform the job and buy two kits you are looking at close to $1000.

I'm a professional and there are two major problems with this product and why it's a waste of money. First off, there is not enough product. It seems like everyone who gets a decent finish off this product needs to use 3X more product than what is advertised. At about $250 to $300 per kit at today's prices, you are better off hiring a professional and you'll come out at a similar price and you won't have to do it yourself. Second, the product only tells you to acid etch. That is not going to build a finish that lasts. You need to have your concrete grinded/sanded down to to remove the cream layer if you want your finish to stick on properly. Acid etching is not enough and leads to de-lamination of the flooring eventually. I've re-done some floors from DIYers who used this product and it was already coming off.

Based on the size of your garage, I would have quoted you $2,700 and would have prepared the floor with sanding, laid down a moisture barrier, used a better product, and provided you a 5 year warranty.

@@BlakesCars2 Probably that you went on a bit thick, but they did send you another box so that helped. And the airbubbles had to be something on your end, maybe the temperature, or something was not rinsed off thoroughly or compatible with the Rock Solid?? IDK, I wasn't there, but I haven't see anyone else getting those air bubbles, had to be something... I'll let you know in 48 hours when I'm done with my floor, I'm many hours and dozens of videos deep into this product, I've seen it all...

@@BlakesCars2you’re going way too thick bro. Also, buy some real concrete acid not that citric acid bullsbit that’s in the kit. Get some murietic acid,‘go over Your slab 2-3 times with it. You didn’t mix the stuff long enough it looks like is why you got chunky bubbles.. you really need to mix and shake the shit out of those and move quick. The foam Roller they include It’s trash too, Home Depot sells and epoch roller that works great. Squeegee it out to spread it properly. Way too thick in my Opinion.

@@JohnAnderson-kt4mb well good news for me because this stuff has been on my floor for almost 3 years and it still looks the way it did on day one. While it may not have been done right according to you, it’s held up great.
