As trains to the Hamworthy Branch are looking scarce, I want to record as much of the Hamworthy branch line as I can. I decided to record the line when it isn't in use as this may become an everyday sight in the future.
I've noticed recently that there is a small abandoned station building at the area of track just past the boating club therefore I wanted to record and see it for myself. Once there I found numerous railway chairs and sleepers which have been previously removed and left at the line side.

I'm amazed at the amount of car traffic in the area, this could not be made in to a short tram line.

I wonder if we can run a little railbuggy on this stretch. There's a crossing halfway along where it could be accessed.

W still used of course for stone trains, but they only venture all the way down to the fence to run round. Shame the harbour seem to have no interest anymore as they fenced it off.

May be an opportunity for one of UK Railtours Forgotten Tracks tours? I'm sure the chairs and some of the lifted rail would be of interest to Shillingstone Railway Project, if they could get their hands on it.

Amazing video shame it is like this now , only if someone would preserve it. I have seen engine moving on key before but that was when I was 8.

Hi David. The trains have seemed to stop running however when they were, they came from Westbury. They were unloaded at the top of the branch near Hamworthy station and only ran down the branch to use a "Run round" loop at the bottom where the old station was. If you'd like to know more about the Hamworthy branch, a friend of mine called Colin Stone published a book years ago covering it as well as Poole quay tramway and other lines in the local area. I only got it recently and it provides a lot of information and pictures. The book is called "Rails to Poole Harbour"

@@aidanstrand4864 So is it now totally dissused again? Seems such a waste, given there is both an aggregate terminal and ferry services at the docks.
