Somewhere, there's a middle-age man who was given that jeep when he was a little kid. If it could be proven to be his, I wonder how he'd feel to see it brought back to life like this. I remember old toys of mine that are gone forever. It would be awesome to see see one rescued and restored!

@His Masters Voice the intial price of a item does not reflect it's potential historical value or the sentimental value to some individual who encounters it in the future. Both values can drive the cost of the item to extreme hieghts. Tonka toys were and are to this day enjoyed by young children of all economic backgrounds.

Nice project. I like how you painted the tires. Neat method I'd say. Here is a little hint the next time you are using pop-rivets that are too long, remove the pin out of the pop rivet and cut the rivet down to the size you really need and than reinstall the pin again. It works perfect for any size...

It's amazing how what looks like a really easy restoration can be a bit more involved because of the way that something has to be dismantled and reassembled. I love the fact that you heated the axles and quenched them in oil to prevent rust. I suggested it for one of your recent restorations, and I know that it works well. I love the way you were able to redo the writing on the tires. That was a stroke of genius. Congratulations again. That is a superb restoration.

So cool to see this getting restored. I had one of these when I was really young, maybe 3-4 years old. I was pushing it around on the floor and fell forwards onto it. The windshield was laid flat against the hood and my forehead smacked right on top of it on that sharp edge. Mine was pretty rusty as well so I got to make a trip to the hospital for my first tetanus shot. I still have the scar on my forehead like 25 years later. Good times.

Nice job restoring that old toy. But I question the vintage of it, that style of tires/wheels wouldn't have been on a '60s era jeep. I'd place the vintage at around mid '80s or later, unless someone changed them at some point.
