It's a really nice ski resort Howard! Also thanks again for always stopping by and leaving comments on our videos! 😊 We have definitely been making content that's all over the place to test some things out (very hit or miss! haha), so really appreciate you sticking around for the huge variety of topics. We are now finished trying out the "travel vlog" lifestyle that we started in November going to other countries, and I think we'll stick to more simple videos in Korea while we try to build our career. Hope you're healthy and happy! 😁

Great video guys. Random thing I noticed, in some of the indoor shots you can see the lights flickering, this is because Japan has 100/200v power compared to 110/220v in Korea. You can adjust your cameras shutter speed to match the light flicker which will get rid of it in the video. You probably already know this but I thought I'd mention it 👍
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound Год назад
Thanks a lot Zac! Haha yeah unfortunately with the GoPro's stabilization it sets the shutter speed super high to make digital stabilization possible so it's not very good indoors with light flicker (especially in Japan), but it's the only camera I bring when we go skiing so I probably need to make a custom setting for when we are indoors to make the viewing experience better! 😁

Wow man! what an amazing amount of snow! Envious.... I love glade runs 🤘.
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound Год назад
It's so awesome Alex! Also glade runs are the best eh! It's cool how in Japan since the trees aren't evergreens there are no tree wells, and it's a lot easier to see the entire run because you can see through the branches. Pretty cool for sure! 😁

Very Nice! The last time I was on skis was back in 1995. Was in northern Japan that time as well. Some of the best snow I have ever experienced. Look like you had a blast!

Thanks a lot Just MartyKing! 😊 Wow 1995 in Northern Japan must have been a huge hidden secret eh! I bet at that time there weren't many tourists going skiing eh? We had such a good time at Rusutsu! I had no idea Japan's skiing was as good as it is!

Wow nice @nelsonutella! You will have an excellent time! If you are an absolute beginner, don't sleep on Sapporo Teine either if you are staying in Sapporo. It's the perfect spot for beginners to learn, with some nice views of Sapporo too!

A step up from Korea... Very gentle and peaceful runs. Anyone can ride in Japan due to it's friendly nature and it is budget friendly. Great for beginners and intermediate riders. Great for families with children. Would love to see your skills in the alps or the rockies but those are definitely a lot more expensive.
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound Год назад
The ski hills in Hokkaido are definitely amazing and they get a lot of snow! As a skier that's the #1 thing I miss when living in Korea, but at least it's not too far to get what I'm looking for. I would absolutely love to ski the alps some day! I heard that not as many people in Europe ski off piste (off the groomed runs) so I really want to see if that's true or not. Also there are just so many ski hills that it would be cool to check out. If only money wasn't a limitation eh!

@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound Год назад
Thanks so much zaviwaher! 😊 Have only skied Sapporo Teine other than Rusutsu. Was planning on hitting up Niseko but the trip got cut short unfortunately. I've heard Rusutsu has less people overall than Niseko though, and the terrain is definitely more than enough to have a great time!

Started going to Rusutsu in the early 2000s and it was a hidden gem then. Went around 6 times and stopped going about 8 years ago as the foreign crowds got too big for my preferences. Now that the epic pass covers the mountain I search elsewhere. It was once my favourite ski spot in Japan.
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound 7 месяцев назад
It must have been amazing back in the early 2000s for sure! Its definitely a lot harder to find spots with good snow that aren't overcrowded these days eh?
@wenjingdeng6102
@wenjingdeng6102 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for the video! For rentals, did you book in advance or were you able to get them when you got to the resort? Also, were there different options for snowboards or multiple different rental stores? I'm planning a trip to Rusutsu in February and trying to decide if I should bring gear or rent!
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound 10 месяцев назад
Thanks a lot @wenjingdeng6102! We didn't rent gear at Rusutsu, so I only know the basic information you can find on the website here: rusutsu.com/en/ski-rentals/ I didn't see any ski/snowboard shops nearby Rusutsu either except for the official resort one, so you might have to look at renting gear in Sapporo and compare the prices. All the best with your trip! You will have a blast!

Hey Matt , I read that the shuttle bus is chargeable from airport , but it free from Sapporo.
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound Год назад
Hey Philip! That's right it looks like the bus from the airport is ¥3,500 one way, but it's only ¥1,100 to take the train (35 minutes) to Sapporo station and then take the free bus from there!

I'm planning a trip for next month, would you say Kiroro or Rusutsu is better for mediocre/intermediate riders?
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound 6 месяцев назад
Hey @chungus_bombadil3560 I haven't been to Kiroro but I checked out the trail map and it looks like it's smaller than Rusutsu, but it'll be similar for intermediate riders. Check out this site that compares them nisade.com/news/a-quick-guide-to-four-best-hokkaido-ski-resorts and also consider Sapporo Teine as it's really close to Sapporo and very easy to get to.

Do you think Japan is better for life or Korea? Generally
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound Месяц назад
They have many similarities but they are also very different countries @Mprzij. I haven't lived in Japan, but from traveling there over 10 times I'd say it's more for those who want to live in a very organized and structured society that's very polite and that keeps to themselves a lot. It seems like the perfect country for introverts. But I've heard that finding housing as a foreigner in Japan is also a bit of a challenge because a lot of buildings don't allow them. The food in Japan is also easier to eat for most people around the world. Korea on the other hand is an incredibly fast paced country that developed at a rapid rate, so some things are still stuck in the past (sewage, garbage disposal, reckless driving), but the people in general are very approachable and accommodating. Instead of keeping to themselves, people are more likely to speak honestly about what they like/don't like, and they are more likely to talk to strangers here. Korea is also a lot more flexible when it comes to the laws and the rules (which has positives and negatives). Also Korean food is quite exotic for a lot of people around the world, and I find that people either love it or they hate it.
