Nick, thanks for the support. I was up in British Columbia for a month helping a friend of mine who owns a sheep hunting camp. I did some fishing and had a great adventure. I am just now getting into the whitetail mindset. I will start posting a few things as I get into the season.
Bill I'm commenting here because I can't comment on your websites blog page for some reason. Every time I go to type my name in so I can post it kicks me off your website. Anyhow I finally got to reading your hunt blog about your buck last year! Great blog, great hunt and a great buck! Congratulations
Thanks Wes. I am not sure why the website it kicking your comments off. That is really strange. I have not heard that from other visitors there. I will see if I can figure it out. In the meantime, thanks so much for the comment and the support.
Funny story Bill, About 12 or 13 years ago, I was in my mid twenties and I went back to college. I’d sometimes kill time in a computer lab between classes watching Midwest whitetail. Once I was about 20 minutes into an episode, when the girl next to me finally said, we all can hear that, pointing to my computer. I had been watching the whole episode in a dead quiet computer lab without my headphone jack all the way plugged in, so the sound I thought I heard through my headphones was playing through the computers speakers…
That is awesome. I am sure they learned something about deer hunting that day even if they didn't learn anything about programming! Thanks for the support and good luck.
I am fine. Thanks for the thoughts. I want to get back in the business of producing videos, but I don't want to get in so deep as I did last time. I can't sustain that for very long and I don't want to start something that I can't complete. So I have been slow to dive back in until I have a very solid and long-term plan. I have been thinking about it nearly daily and have some thoughts. I will start dabbling again soon.
Thanks Dan. I plan to start creating content on a more regular basis, but some of it may be on my website rather than RU-vid videos. That is BillWinke.com. Thanks for the support.
Great Hunt!! Hard to complain that he went only 50yds, but based on the quartering toward, looking back do you think he would have gone down sooner if you would have gone in front of the shoulder based on the angle? Great Video and buck!!
I think the arrow might have deflected slightly off the "elbow". If you watch the slow mo of the shot, you see that the arrow changes angle on the exit side of the deer so I think it might have kicked a bit on impact. I don't think I would handle that shot any differently a second time. He didn't appear to be angling toward me when I was taking the shot. That part can be very deceiving. I have a few others do that - look to be perfectly broadside when they are actually angling toward slightly.
Love this hunt Bill, can’t wait till future videos with you. Missed you on MW this season. Just put my house on market and retired from the service. Looking at Kentucky/Ohio/West Virginia
Thanks sir and thanks also for your service to this great country. That is a beautiful area that you are considering - a lot of good deer hunting in that tri-state area. It might be as good a three-state corner for deer hunting as there is in the country. Good luck.
@@bill-winke thanks Sir, you’re welcome. Yea I’ve hunted Ohio since year after my first deployment like 2005. Hunted West Virginia last couple years with Ohio and I’m in love with that area, trying to get along southern Ohio border on West Virginia side so I can work those three states in my retirement. Super excited for this, watched all your stuff since around 2009. Seen you on the monster bucks videos way back when. Definitely an icon in the outdoors and that chasing November series is probably my favorite all time. Hope to see you in future stuff. Stay safe and god bless
Thanks Wes. I am getting there. I may take a trip up to the Northern BC to help a friend of mine who is an outfitter up there for the month of September. Not sure if I will hunt, but I am sure I will fish. I make a few videos from that and then I will be back in Iowa for the hunting season and try to find a nice deer. Have a great day.
You “wobble” a deer...he will not go much further, especially when walking, tail tucked. Perfect shot Bill. Of course nice blind acrobatics that preceded the shot. So much that goes into a “filmed” successful hunt. If people only knew.
Thanks. Yes, when the start to wobble it is all over but the falling. Filming a good hunt takes a lot of planning. It is an art in itself. The guys that do it well are just as skilled as any cameraman in Hollywood.
Billy, I appreciate it. I honestly don't have any more Midwest Whitetail shirts. I have three or four that I wore alot and still use sometimes, but nothing new. If you really want to do this, you will need to send me a shirt and return shipping and I will gladly sign it. Send a message to bill@MidwestWhitetail.com if you need the address to do this. Have a great day.
