Thanks. I appreciate it and appreciate the support for my channel. I will start producing new content next week to hopefully help and entertain hunters. Have a great day.
Over the years I’ve watched this hunt no less than 20 times! Unreal to have around 400” of antler within 40 yds of the stand. One hot doe can change everything at the drop of a hat. This story and then the following year, the G4 buck story will go down as two of my favorite Winke moments ever! I hope you sit back every day, Bill, and smile when you’re looking at those two magnificent animals on your wall. If you’re like me, you can smell the smells, remember the temp and how it all played out with every glance. My wife makes fun of me for sitting in my chair just staring at the wall remembering. Those are memories we all take with us forever! Really enjoyed watching it again! I’m pretty sure I’ll be back again! 😁🦌
That hunt never gets old Bill! And the way you bring it strait to the viewers the way it really happens it one of the thing that separates you from the rest!
The dozens of times I've watched this it never gets old. Great job bill!!! Love the respect and composure that you have after taking the life of another animal.
Bill, I love seeing you back showing your wonderful videos. Thank you for all you have taught me from your online stuff. You have helped my hunting here in the midwest in so many wonderful ways. I learn something new every time I watch a video from you. Hope you have many more memorable hunts for years to come sir. If you ever need anything out Nebraska way don't hesitate to reach out. ~Jc
JC, thanks. I really appreciate the kind words and the invite. Nebraska is an awesome whitetail state in its own right and I no longer tied to one farm, so who knows. You may hear from me! Have a great day.
This is by far my favorite hunt ever on video! It's what every whitetail hunter dreams of such an amazing evening in god's creation. Thanks for bringing us these older hunts bill and for all the knowledge you've shared over the years.
Thanks Jeremy, I was not much of fan of God creation that morning when it was 32, windy and raining, but the afternoon made up for a thousand miserable days on stand! It was really something. Have a great day.
Easily one of the more memorable hunts of the thousands I’ve ever watched. How in the world has it been 10 years already since that magical season, Bill?
That was a dream hunt for the ages. I don’t remember you showing that much footage following the shot on MWW but glad you did here. Thanks for sharing!
David, thanks. I tried to re-edit it a little differently just to create some new content for people who have seen these hunts before. Have a great day.
What a hunt!! Still my favorite hunt ever and I love how you are posting these on youtube! Really cool! I am curious, I have never seen you mention the final score of this deer. I know you guessed him in the 190s from the tree, was that what he ended up? Awesome hunt!! Gets me jacked for November already!
Me too. November can't come soon enough. I never did actually score him so I don't know past the guess. I have tried not to be concerned about the score because I hate the thought of converting my memories to a number. That is just me, I see no problem with scoring animals as long as it doesn't detract from the memory of the hunt, I have just never done it. Have a great day.
Amen, when that buck was coming in was one of the coolest segments in the history of deer hunting video. We never talked about it, but I had to kneel down on the platform so he could film over me during the shot.
That was an incredible hunt. I always wonder how much bigger g5 would have gotten had the hunt went the other way given the age you shared he was. Keep them coming!
Me too. I wish now that it had because G5 was only four years old when I got the results back from the cementum annuli testing for age. Boy, what a genetic freak. He needed at least one more year, maybe two. I didn't know he was four at the time, I thought five. I am not sure I would have let him go had I known he was four - maybe. I still expected the other buck to show back up after getting run off. That might have been enough to cause me to let this one go. It would be so cool to just let them all get old, but unfortunately, not many of them make it that long - other hunters and natural mortality take a big toll each year.
