Heteronormative landscape of schooling - what does that even mean? And what is so objectionable about it? Do schools which don't have a heteronormative landscape have better outcomes that ones which do?

I find it completely insane. But children will be taught about reproduction. The argument is that this will concretize the idea in young minds that heterosexuality is normal. That idea then privileges heterosexual kids over gay kids who may be targets of ridicule. So, it is better to talk about a personal gender because that then normalises same sex attraction / gender non-conforming behaviour. Its all social engineering and it is mad

@@terffanman If you have the time, could you answer this question for me? What does it mean to queer the family and what are some concrete examples that you have come across or heard about? And how does it happen - what steps lead up to it?

@@sylviarogier1 I haven't come across the phrase "queering the family" but anytime the phrase "queering" is used it is within the context of undermining social norms. Queer theorists regard binary oppositions as inherently hierarchical - one pole of the binary oppresses the other. Professor Renold writes that queering childhood requires queering the binary opposition between adult and child. So essentially this means the undermining of parental authority. Traditionally, we have believed that the parent has authority over the child. Queer theory undermines that belief. Some see this as being child led.... "giving the child agency". Of course, there are reasons that parents have traditionally had authority over the child. Kids can be impetuous / lazy and do things that they later regret.

@@terffanman Thanks. The reason I ask is that I want to use a certain RU-vid video called "German Sparkle Party" as a study in the queering of the "hetero-normative family" and was looking for input from those with some knowledge of queer theory.

Just wondering who removed my comment Nigel. If it was you, that's fine and you would have your reasons. 😊
