Made it to the end of a video about cable hatches 😂 you could take a move from Blacktail videos and have people comment an either or question if they watch to the end lol

I think if the folks at Bushwacker see this video, they should include these access panels as standard equipment in the future. It’s always better to run wires and cables through the side rather than through an open door or up through the floor. Great video Brian, it was my pleasure to film it for you!❤️🎥

Oh c'mon brother, who doesn't watch every video of yours to the end? Good work bro. The hatch does offer a lot of flexibility. Gee, thanks for making my project list longer. I need to finish my 'never empty rain water IBC' project first (float switch will trigger the well water source to fill the IBC if no water (rain or well water) is avail for the irrigation).

This is how I do it. Sometimes I run an extension cord inside, other times it's just a solar panel wire.

Quck tip, when drilling a hole with a hole saw. I like to drill the pilot hole first then put the hole saw back on the arbor and drill the hole. This keeps the saw from grabing when the pilot hole is drilled. Sometimes this can break your wrist. ( As an old pipefitter I had to drill way to many holes. lol)

Tons of creative solutions out there. You can usually find a way to keep it in your vehicle and run the cord out. I used upside down totes. Under the camper sometimes works some times. I like to get coolers at yard sales, makes a good case Etc etc

Will attempt this gem of a modification in a few weeks. I agree about keeping power stations in the interior of the teardrop as opposed to in the vehicle. Thanks, Brian.

This is one of the best “how to” RU-vid videos I’ve seen. The info you gave was excellent but you also didn’t spend a lot of time at the beginning of the video rambling on and on about stuff no one cares about. Which for me is super frustrating. You got straight to the point and I loved that. You also explained everything very well. Thanks for the info.

Well I made it to the end of a video on cable hatch installations :) Brian, as much as I used to nerd out on my BW and once I saw this... yeah, total forehead-slapper moment for me, doh! And yes, hanging a little camplux or the like portable water heater off the side is an awesome upgrade. I picked up a 10' QC propane hose for mine so I could run it off the propane port, easy-peazy. As for plumbing I teed in under the galley, out through the floor and had a 1/4 turn hose bib mounted outside and below-left on the frame and everything used the same QC water fittings. Nothing fancy, just the basic plastic garden hose ones from the big box hardware stores. Super handy for even when the water heater wasn't in use. I did worry a few times about the short run of line freezing up so had I done it your way that'd been moot. A word of advice on that though. Do spend a bit more and get the reinforced vinyl. It's pricey but it holds up to abuse and maybe a little freezing. You may notice BW used the same from the tank to the pump. Oh and a bit off-topic, with that water heater rig, a couple of nights where it was going to dip to mid to upper 20's I did a makeshift "tank heater". Basically I just fed the output of the water heater back into the tank fill and let it run for a bit. I know that was pushing my luck but it was all the water I had and I was out there and hadn't been prepared for the weather dipping that low. Worked in a pinch but I don't recommend it instead of properly dealing with water when it can freeze, which in the case of the BW is don't carry any in the system. Use jerry cans and keep 'em warm. Man do I miss that little trailer! I agree with the post below. Bushwhacker could take some inspiration from you.

My forehead stays red from the slaps…lol. Glad I was able to show an option. I run a pretty conservative approach to winterization, maybe I’ll experiment more this year.

Brian, Your videos are invaluable I’ve been binge watching to glean info on power stations and solar! I just converted my battery system from 12v to two 6v batteries 😎 will you make a video on this because you have so much knowledge to impart? Thanks! Daniel

Hey Daniel, thrilled that you're enjoying the videos. I'd be happy to show a series system with 6v. I have to see if I have 2 of them to demonstrate, making these videos gets pricey when you buy the gear for demonstrations. In the meantime, happy to try to answer any questions you have with your system. Thanks for watching!

@@DIYOutdoorLife especially 6v batteries! To be brief I have a EcoFlow River power station and a 220w Dokio briefcase solar panel that I use to power my laptops for work. How much 12v DC input power to the power station would you suspect I should get? I basically deplete the EcoFlow daily and luckily shore power charges it back up at 600+watts or only a couple hours 🙂 but of course I want to be more self sufficient in my setup. Thanks in advance if you have any pointers!
@DIYOutdoorLife
@DIYOutdoorLife 2 года назад
@@dgavern if you plug the Dokio into the ecoflow (make sure you go direct from panel, bypassing the charge controller) you will get around 180 watts per hour in good conditions. There are several different rivers by Ecoflow, a 220 panel should be able to charge all of them at a decent speed.
