*Solid, **Fastly.Cool** and gets the job done. For rooms where window-mounted air conditioning is not an option, this works very well. Easy set up, rapid cooling, and great design.*
Just wanted to take a moment and say a big Thank You to you Jared for the great video. My wife and i watched it several times and today we took the plunge and the system is working great. So thank you again it really helped us. The RV dealer wanted almost 300 for the thermostat and labour to install.
bought a programmable thermostat and could not get it to work using conventional wiring. thanks to your video I got it wired correctly and it works great. I thought I had a bad thermostat which would not have been the first one. big thank you for your video.
My been giving me crap for a long time a friend gave me a camper thermostat and couldnt get it to work to save my life today i found your video ran out collected all the stuff and did everything you showed in the video works great thanks for sharing. Took longer to go out and round all the stuff needed then it did to do the swap
Very Well done My last Travel trailer was a 2003 Rockwood just traded for a 2017 Coachmen. the problem I had with the last trailer was over a period of 5yrs it had three thermostats that I replaced due to Short cycling and inconsistent temp (way off) from research I have found that for the most part the Duo Therm Thermostat is JUNK and the new digital one from Dometic is no Prize that's the one in my new Rv but its good to know that you can use something off the shelf like you did . rather than go to an Rv store and buy same Junk again . yours will last the life of the RV
Toggle switch GSW-12 SPDT switch (Ace Hardware, Amazon, Home Depot, etc.), it is a two position switch On-On, in this case it would be a fan Hi-Lo. Follow Jareds instructions in wiring up the toggle switch. Google "Dometic bulletin A27-8C" and see page six, for early model wiring identification & troubleshooting.
Sorry Chris, just realized I don't need "B" brown low fan. You did not need a thermostat with that connect because you installed a remote switch. The Honeywell RTH221B uses high speed fan blue only. Perfect choice, I'm not concerned about dual speeds. Thanks,Dan
You hooked the black to rc but that’s ground isn’t it? And you didn’t say what to do with the red one with was originally hooked to +7.5v terminal on old stat. Can you help?
Jared, my RV thermostat runs off 12 volt, I have the RV parked on a lot I own and have never and will never travel with it, is there a way to convert the 12 volt thermostat to 110 volt? I have 30 amp service and the only thing I really need 12 volt for is the AC thermostat...
The typical home thermostat is 24v. I've read that many battery operated thermostats will function with 12v. The 24v home unit has a terminal that powers the thermostat itself but when powered by batteries it appears 24v is not necessary. If you wanted to go crazy you could wire about a 24v transformer from a furnace with a fuse to 120v.
i see the red wire when u put the new ther up but you didnt hook it up , i have the same unit but my ground is green and i see yours is black. so where did the red wire that is the 7.5 v feed go . i cant see where you hooked it up to
Great video. We have a Duo Therm t-stat similar to the one shown (just different colors in the block, but 6 wires just the same). I have a question - we don't use the A/C, so how would I wire the RTH221B1039 to operate just the furnace? Many thanks.
Eliminate the thermostat all together ...I've now watched 3 break...last night it was mine...!!! When the unit isn't being lived in the thermostat is irrelevant...you need heat or you need cold...on or off Can you set it up with 2 switches Furnace/AC...??? Mine came off the wall somewhat abruptly...
Doesn't anyone have a video showing the old analog to the dometic digital? The instructions do now show how to hook up the analog 6 wire system to the digital 3 wire system. The instructions show you how to turn a thermostat on and off, ugh.
Hey, just a quick statement, you never gave the cruising reference between what you took a picture of vs what you put in. That video was not helpful at all..
Turning off the main 120 Volt breaker does not turn off the 12 Volt circuit for the furnace. Granted, 12 Volt will not shock you much, but crossing those wires could damage the furnace. So, having omitted that I turned off your video and did not subscribe. You are not expert nor should you be giving advice. Tell us about your camping locations.
