I started out on your circuit board video and ended up here. Your step by step test process found my thermostat was the issue. Thanks!

Love your videos. On my previous 5th wheel with furnace and AC, heat stopped working. A tech kindly told me to pull the fuse, let the thermostat rest for two minutes and put the fuse back in. That fixed the problem. I had to do that twice more over the next five years. Perhaps this will help someone else.

Thank you for mentioning the furnace on/off switch. That was the problem. Seems our cat has been playing behind the couch (furnace location). Building project scheduled. 😉

Awesome! Glad that tidbit helped someone, it’s not a common set up for that reason. (Well maybe not cats 😂)

I hated my Coleman analog thermostat from the first day we got the coach. I fought with it for a few years but finally I replaced it with a nice Honeywell digital which works PERFECTLY. Best upgrade I ever made to my coach. !

Love your vids - I am the person who knows nothing until I listen to you and try to do something! One thing, more is how do you test the heat strip controlled by a thermostat? Would be great updating your pdf, too! 😉Thx

First off, awesome video! I am a first time RV owner and love to try and do the work myself before moving onto using a tech. While the AC worked when we bought it, no luck when we got it home last week. So far, the tstat is getting 12v in, but not out. We’ve tried a replacing the tstat and using jump wire to see if the stat is the issue and still get no reaction from the AC (no fan, heat, cool). Any ideas why we’d get voltage in, but not out? I’m not able to find any kind of additional furnace switch and walked around flipping every switch I could find, and the prior owners said they didn’t do anything but plug it in and go. Love this and a new subscriber for sure!

Liked, subscribed, and in awe! I am proficient with most everything residential and automotive, including stats and electrical. I would have spent weeks or hundreds on a shop. I must have one of those rare MH. 2007 Dolphin 5335 with the basement ac. Ford chassis. Thank you 😊

I have a 2 wire heat only Suburban analog thermostat. I’m going to try placing the probes of my multimeter on those and see what I read. Thanks for the videos.

Love the video! Great info and explanations. Ive got a question... i have that exact thermostat. What is the battery compartment there for? It doesn't connect to, or power anything? So how does it get the DC power? Thanks. You just earned a new subscriber!!😊

I tested my thermostat, ac condenser not turning on. In the process noticed all settings were fine volt wise except “low fan”. Would that indicate a bad thermostat or just for that setting. About to go in the roof to check AC capacitors. Great videos.

No heat from your propane furnace? Be sure to see all gas valves are on. Just the other day, I couldn't get heat from the furnace on my "new to me" 2015 Winnebago Via. Then, as I was looking at controls on the wall, I remembered that there is a on-off switch for the propane, (as well as the valve on the propane tank). The Via is the first rig that I've owned with a on/off rocker switch for the propane.

Enjoy your video but my RV Z2 thermostat has no power to it. Everytime I change the 15 amp fuse on the panel, it blows. I have changed the thermastat, but the same thing, any ideal?

your help/guidance will be appreciated..... I have an RV Coleman Mach unit that stopped working when I set the thermostat in Auto..... Nothing.....when I set it on FAN/On it turns on the fan but not the compressor. I replaced the capacitors and still nothing...I know there is a metal box inside the unit by the filter, where I can see the thermostat wires going in and AC wires going out... maybe relays in that box. any suggestions ? thx.

I'm sorry to bother you. I got a new thermostat and the ac still won't kick on =(. I'm thinking its because I didn't tell you that I"m also having trouble with the battery. The wiring diagram looks like the blue wire hooks up to the negative dc power source, which I assume comes from the power converter? I think that power converter needs replaced because the battery in the rv will not charge. Do you think this is the case? Its also possible that maybe the battery isn't strong enough? Do you know how I would test? Thank you for your help!

I'm not getting voltage on the yellow/blue wires as described around about 3:45. Is there a way to completely bypass the thermostat to see if the thermostat is definitely the problem?
@rvrepairwoman
@rvrepairwoman 4 месяца назад
Yeah you could use a wire to jump power to the yellow wire from the red wire.

Help! My thermostat looks nothing like the one in the video. It is a dometic single zone thermostat, and it only has 3 wires- red, white, and blue. I've searched all over the internet and can't find anything to tell me which one goes to the compressor or how to test it.
@rvrepairwoman
@rvrepairwoman 4 месяца назад
As I say towards the end of the video, those thermostats aren’t very testable. Two of those wires are for power and the third is a communication wire that does all of the signal for everything. If the thermostat is turning on then it’s getting power. And Dometic thermostat will usually throw an E1 error if there is a communication problem. So unless the thermostat is throwing that error it’s most likely not your problem.

Hello Emily I ran across some of your videos by accident. Boy did I get lucky. I sat and watched them all day. It's just me and my cat that camps so I want to be a badass! 😂 I have a 1974 Tioga Dodge sportsman. The air conditioner works however there is no thermostat on the wall, would it be built into the air conditioner itself? It gets so cold at times I have to turn it off manually. Thank you and you've helped me a lot already.
