I live in a small town of Oil City, PA, and I camp out at Two Mile Run Park religiously every year(I'll be retiring in June, 2024), so probably more camping per year)! Thanks, Liz. I hired Deb Bruening to inspect both of my RVs after I bought them (I should have done it before the purchase. At this point, I wanted to know what problems might lie ahead so that I could be proactive). It was the best money I could have spent. She found water intrusion on one of my slideouts. The unit was still under an extended warranty. With Deb's report and photos, I was able to have it fixed ASAP-no questions asked. I love the direction you have taken your channel; we need an advocate out there for us. Thank you!!

Buy used between 2009-2015. Beat years for rv’s. Right after collapse they were hurting and manufactures built them stout. They were in a competition for survival of the fittest. We had a like new 2012 Montana. Best ever!

Sorry to hear that, RV life is a GREAT life, but not for everyone. Mainly you want to avoid buying a new model. Not a good time to buy new, but trailers and fifth wheels built in 2018 and before tend to be well-built. The motorhome sweet spot is 2002 to 2008. Whatever you buy, join the Facebook group of the model to get the scoop from owners. And always get an inspection. Another advantage of buying used is the seller has typically gotten the kinks out. My wife and I owe you our lives Liz!!! Please, please never stop posting! We had a gas leak with our dealer said was fixed. We saw this video with Stick, (I hope I spelled that right) and we bought the tools he recommended. Long story short, it was leaking like crazy!! Our co2 sensors went off again. I measured the leak as per Stick's instructions and bingo! Thank you for this!!

Txs again Liz. I’ve shared with you before. It was our dream to retire and hit the road with an rv. Watching your videos have directed me to the right decision for us. We simply could not cope with the stress associated with potential RV problems. We want to destress!!!!!!! I’d rather drive in our car and stay in nice hotels. I know that it is not your intention to keep people out of the RV life. I just could not cope with the issues that occur more regularly than one could imagine that innocent seniors get caught up in after purchase. Thank you again for such candid posted info. There is something wrong with the RV industry as a whole. THEY need to smarten up and serve their customers accordingly. At this time, I could not or will not invest money in such an unreliable and depreciating asset. Love you. Txs. ❣️

Me to I love rvs even the perfect rv they're is just a lot to do and it's hard to find good rv parks and no control over your nabor they look good on pictures I full time years and Just rved for years I would sleep in the truck with 40,ft rv with generator Have a Happy Easter everyone

You are probably making the correct decision. I tent camped for 60 years. Really no issues. Loved it . I bought a small RV 4 years ago . Not really any issues with it . But , it came with different issues compared to tent camping! I guess it just comes down to choices ? 🤔

Thanks again Liz for another great video!! I had to chuckle at his comment about “backing off” when someone cuts in front of you on the road . . Chuckling sarcastically . Yes I’ve done that! But it’s incredible just how many people run up on your butt, ride in your blind spots, get mad cause you go slower up hills, and Especially just how many people practically take off your front end as they pass & cut in front of you with No Room to Spare . . You know, those ding-a-lings who seem to think you can slow down or stop easily! They give me the white knuckles!!! ;-)

I’m a aircraft mechanic…. Inspecting. And documentation is critical…. If cars RVs had to be inspected like a aircraft there wouldn’t be a bad one !

@@LizAmazing I’m driving a 2001 class a owned it since it was 3 years old .. zero break downs .. yes. It’s a Winnebago adventurer 35u. .. 70k miles .. it’s my second class a .. both Winnebago s. But I had 3 others no issues.. but they where 80s manufactured..

You failed with your grammar. If you're proud of your job, you shouldn't make simple mistakes. You should've said, "I'm AN aircraft mechanic". Simple mistakes cause catastrophic failures.

@@williamhudson4938he went to A&P school to become a mechanic. He wasn’t an English major at some liberal arts college that gives away gender studies degrees. I’d rather have an aircraft mechanic that knows his job than some English major who doesn’t Plus he may have been tired or simply mistyped. I guarantee he won’t make any more of a catastrophic mistake than you will except wasting money on a English degree

The message was adequately communicated even without you shooting your arrows! Behavior somewhat like a dog who has to mark territory or display scratching the ground with hind legs.

In the negotiations - along with the inspection documentation ask for engineered drawings (schematics) for the 120v electrical, 12v electrical, and plumbing. The drawings must include routing. If they can't provide them its because they want you to return to the dealer for every repair, no matter how small.

Actually, Grand Design couldn't provide those drawings for my rig as they claimed they don't exist. What they sent was a rudimentary sketch. I believe all that are coming out of Elkhart are that way. Quite a contrast from my 2004 Chinook camper van which included all the schematics in the owners manual! Thanks for your comment!

I may be wrong but I don't believe electrical wiring diagrams exist. I tried to get diagrams for my 2016 Sunseeker from Forest River and they said they did not have them I got plumbing drawings but they are not even correct. They sent me all drawings for the Sunseeker series Class C's and non matched my rig.

Don't believe it, the drawings do exist. When the Engineering Dept releases a new design for construction how do you suppose it gets wired? Every unit would be different depending on the person doing the work. How could a new control-technician from a different industry ever learn all the different models? How would the Dealer make repairs in a reasonable time without drawings? The Manufacturer is protecting the Dealer!

Sun City RV gave us such a runaround on getting basic info about a consignment coach (PDI, seller scheduled repairs, etc) that we walked. It had so many structural and safety issues noted by a FORMER prior potential buyer that - months later - hadn't been fixed. The worst part? The sales "manager" acted like our findings were the first time he had heard of these issues. I don't feel comfortable going back to them for sales or service.

With so many quality problems in Elkhart nowadays, both in the final product and it's manufacturing process, it makes more sense to me to just rent an RV when you need it, irregardless on the high 'cost per hour' of renting.

There are 100's of items to inspect, check on the chassis same on the living portion. Very time consuming. Tech may not be certified in all areas so that's another important point. Areas that are not accessible for ease of inspection, cracked frame work, air leaks at seals, etc.

Great information thanks so much Liz and Stick. Its the smaller amount of bad dealers that make us miss trust them all. Never let your guard down because some of these people only care about the dollar. They could care less if you broke down 1/2 block from leaving there lot after you purchased it from them.

Main reason people have problems with RV is that they dont do pre inspections. I would NEVER NEVER buy a boat without a SURVEY, most BANKS REQUIRE a complete survey before a loan is issued, and REQUIRE that all items are fixed BEFORE the purchase. Wake up guys

Hi Liz, love your videos. You have to put commercial tires on a Class A's, do you promote commercial trailer tires for towable trailers, 5th wheels, class B, Class C. Toyo and Yokohama have 10 to 15% more natural rubber. Just a thought.

Yes, heavy duty truck tires for the motorhome. If you are ok with the price, for travel trailers, etc, it certainly isn't going to hurt anything. Thanks for watching

@@stickbogart3657 To be completely honest here, I watch Liz's channel because RV issues and Boat issues are one in the same if you understand what I'm saying. Dad and myself built Sea Star, Mach I and Envision Boats for close to 40 years. Some of the things I see in RVs I've worked on in boats. I'm a 65 year old Navy veteran with a old Chevy Astro AWD Van. Thinking about doing a few interior updates and get some great tips and ideas. Thanks again Brian

Given the current state of the RV industry and the products they produce, no one should ever blindly walk into an RV dealer with dreams in their heads and expect everything will work out. It's a sad state of affairs, but it's the truth. Protect yourself, new or used, hire a qualified third-party RV inspector. It can prevent you from making a big mistake, save you a lot of money and help keep the dream alive!

For fun and part time, I would drive motorhomes from the rv manufacturer to RV dealers for sale. Several times I could not get to the destination because they broke down. EVERY time the new unit inspection showed multiple problems. Hey attorneys! Ask for the inspection records of new unit deliveries! All the documentation for quality issues there.
