Hey Scott! I live in Florida. In 2021 My husband and I bought a travel trailer from Lazy Days in Tampa. It was a fiasco from the beginning. To make a long story short, though, we ended up having our RV delivered to us. They referred us to On the Mark RV inspections and repair. When the owner came to our home, he told us some of the issues that needed to be addressed. I called Lazy Days and made an appointment, which was over a month away. We drove over 2 hours to the dealership and dropped it off. They had it for over 3 months. Upon picking it up, I was told that there was nothing wrong with the A/C. I explained that it was NOT an A/C issue, it was the belt Moulding around the A/C unit that was the issue. When I picked it up, they had parked it in the parking lot between two other RVs, so we couldn't get into it because the doors wouldn't open. When we got it home, we were finally able to go inside. That's when we found all kinds of issues. When we opened the fridge, it was moldy. They were supposed to fix the door handle, because it wouldn't stay closed, and they left it closed with moisture in it. The A/C wasn't touched, and the theatre seating that had come loose was fixed. Not 2 weeks later, the A/C in the living room went down, and the theatre seats had come loose again. I called Lazy Days and talked to the service manager, and he said to bring it back in. So, for the second time in less than 3 months of owning it, it was going back to the dealer. At this point it had never been camping. The second appt. was, again, over a month away. We took it in, and they had it for over 4 months. While they had it, the second A/C had gone down. There was a dark brown liquid leaking into the pot lights in the bedroom, and on the back wall of the bedroom closet. After finally looking at it, they told us that the front cap had been leaking, and that they would have to take it off and also do roof repairs. They had it for another 4 months or so. We were so upset and angry over all of the incompetence! I had been on the phone with Keystone probably 100 times over the course of this process, that they refused to take any more of my calls. I sought a Lemon Law attorney, and I was told that even though I bought the RV in Florida, I couldn't file a suit against them because they are based in Illinois, and Illinois is a NO Lemon Law state. So, we are out $48,000.00 for an RV that has NEVER been camping, it is falling down around us, and there is NO recourse that we can take! IT IS ALL A SCAM!!! DON"T BUY AN RV OF ANY KIND! You will lose your money, because you have no rights!😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

If you buy a R.V. from a dealer stay in a campground close by for at least two weeks and use everything in your unit. Our refrigerator went down three days after purchase so we had to drive back to get it replaced. This is really important.

Unfortunately, in most instances, the reputation of "American Made" or "Made in the U.S.A." has gone from 'high quality' and 'long-lasting'to 'get away with what you can' and 'replaceability is more profitable.'' It's less about pride of workmanship and more about pride of revenues and profits.

It would be delightful. Capitalism does not operate on conscience and morals, so the change is less likely to come from the manufacturer &/or vendor and more likely to come from the consumer. However, we the consumers must hold them to account AND also be held accountable: we must demand better, but we must also expect to pay more. Our "Walmart-ized" sense of consumerism is part of this degradation of quality workmanship.

@johntapia-du3dj: It's all overhyped advertising is what get people excited to willingly pay for overpriced lemon products. Think about how much money goes into advertising instead of research and development, quality being an integral part of R & D. I guess quality is not a concern anymore because there aren't enough safety failures for government to come in and regulate the RV industry. Besides, these types of expensive items are considered luxury products; therefore, the government doesn't feel the need to intervene on behalf of the public. This kind of good information presented in this video is a moot point unless the consumers demand better quality for what they are paying for. Business in America pretty much sucks. We're reverting back to the old days where profit is first and everything else is last. This is what almost destroyed Ford.

I went on a tour of an RV dealer last week. They said they got a used one in last week and they went thru it and cleaned and fixed things. I thought that was great so I went out to the black tank release lever and pulled it. Big mistake. Poop all over the ground. I pulled the two grey tank levers. Again, big mistake. I told the salesman to go pound sand and he can clean the parking lot, and I left. Apparently they had no problem lying to get a sale.

Substandard manufacturing across the industry is a plague in recent years. My wife and I have been so eager to enjoy retirement and start RVing North America, but now we are just not sure, all because of these issues. Thank you for taking the time to make your channel and share your experiences.

I never watched your channel before but I wanna say you people are right on the all the industry is becoming disaster and what’s happening is that when these RV companies buy these RV back they don’t fix them or check to see they just put a price on it they sell it and if anything is wrong, you’re stuck so you say a warm tea if for warm tea is in California and I’m in New York what good is the war Aunt going to do me and I really like you said they just clap them together and whatever the chips may fall that’s what you’re stuck with that’s why I would never buy an RV I would buy a class B well I know it’s going to be completely done and I would have it a bill made there were a lot of good builders out there that build class B vansand ready said Van is one of them. They come out of Trenton New Jersey and they have some product. The problem is it’s way out of my budget so I just look at them and wish I could buy them but I can’t.

Seeing more and more of these videos out there. Thank you for publishing. I had a 2009 Voltage (Thor) 5th wheel toy hauler. Bought it very lightly used. It was well sorted. Had “shinny new paint” syndrome and bought a new one with fancy touch screens. Well took over a year, threatened law suits and a trip back to Indiana to get it sorted. As soon as it came back fully sorted, sold it. Never looked back at getting an RV. Never again. The industry needs to go through a massive downsizing and restructuring. I have to imagine there is massive over supply right now with interest rates where they are.

The entire world is a giant "cost savings" experiment. Everything from giant airplanes to overpriced cars and trucks to simple office furniture, the goal is to save money on material and processes to pocket more money. Most of the time you get what you pay for, but its starting to curve to everything is junk, quality is hard to find for everyday folks. Good luck out there.

All RVs are just Potemkin village on wheels. They show off the nice interior visible to the mark (sucker customer) while hiding the horrific electrical wiring and cheap build quality. I don’t really blame the manufacturers because to make something reliable; essentially marine grade would cost a hell of a lot more hence hardly anyone could afford to buy one. I know the argument that they used to be built better and that’s true to a small extent but even past decades models weren’t much better on the ones i service now. Just set your bar low on expectations.

As a welder, i cannot fathom myself buying one of these units. I have built trailers, flatbeds for pickups, farming implements, etc. so I have some experience. I don't know where they source the materials for the frame. They are so light duty that I cannot go down the the metal supply yard and source a new piece of the "I" beam or channel that they use. I saw an bumper pull rv where the tire blew and it cracked the frame. After that I decided that I would probably never purchase one for myself. I'll just stay in the hotel. Be less trouble.

Just because people are buying in the price ranges below 400K, doen't mean they should have to put up with, or tolerate, poor quality !.. It's like the MFG. companies don't want to bother hiring people specifically to quality check each RV (new or used) before it is sent to a buyer, or released on the lot to a new buyer.. I wouldn't buy an RV now. I've walked into Grand Design units that had trim falling off on the dealer lots. Not just sagging, literally falling off. I understand that, especially in low end units, they have to cut corners for both price and to cut down in the weight, but the materials they use are beyond flimsy. Our camper is a 2021 and has been very good. The U shaped dinette makes into a nice sized bed where the table goes down and rests on some wooden strips. The strips of wood were stapled into the luan!! This is a load bearing structure?? There is actually another strip of wood inside the dinette where they could easily have put 2 screws instead of staples. That's what I did when my buddy crashed the bed. Cheap furniture is awful. It doesn't even look good from the factory. We call it naugahide. Overall the industry is paying the price that so many companies pay after the profits associated with Covid. Their poor quality has forced massive price decreases. So may local dealerships were screwing their customers and 2023 took them out. Salesmen who had no clue about the RVs, techs who couldn't work a screwdriver, and poor quality are coming home to roost

Right there with you - bought a new 2023 travel trailer Feb of this year. I was debating having an inspector check it out first, but didn't follow thru on that ....BIG MISTAKE!!! While I was in the process of setting the tt up, I kept finding issues - made a list (25 diff issues) of what I found (but like you said, no telling what else is "bad" that I didn't find) and took it back to the dealer about 3 weeks later for them to address those issues. They had it for 5 1/2 weeks and still were waiting for "approval" from mfr for a couple items. I did take it while they were obtaining approval and ordering the parts (cuz I wanted to actually "camp"). A month later the parts arrived, so I again made a trip back to the dealership to get repairs finished - luckily it only took a few hours to complete. Yes again agree with you about the manufacturer - my rig should never have passed quality control, so in turn should never have been allowed to leave their lot. The dealerships should be able to reject delivery when quality control is sub standard! Because yes, the dealership ends up having to make right - what the mfr did not! Thanks for your video & yep - "enjoy your adventure" 😊
