An unrestricted right to access crown land leads to the tragedy of the commons, where land is over grazed or people misuse the intended function of facilities, which in this case is a brief, at most overnight stay so that you can drive safely.
@@themadlibrarian2933 That maybe true, but at the end of the day, you have a right to close your eye's and sleep, and those without a house due to gov corruption, have that right anywhere, be it continuous as the corruption continues.

It is like this all over the world, not just in Canada. It is a sad sorry situation, especially for kids having to live this way. Oh - did you know that a couple of people in Winnipeg saw mosquitos this past weekend? They blame their appearance on Trudeau. Apparently it is happening all across Canada. Mosquitos everywhere.
The climate has warmed up a tad since that massive volcanic eruption in the Pacific ocean called the Tonga volcanic eruption. Google that one. They are using this as a way to blame people for global warming. Nothing to do with the activity of humans of course. This volcanic eruption put 10% more water vapor into the atmosphere than what is normally there. So it might take five or so years for this to work its way through the atmosphere. Water vapor in the atmosphere traps heat
Hopefully things don't get any worse before they start getting better! Of course, things have gotten so crazy that there's a chance they'll just keep getting worse....
The Shire can set by-laws as they're vested management rights, but if people have no alternative then to access crown land to reside, then it's up to the Shire to find them homes or alternative places to park, if they don't like it.
I agree with you. What boggles the mind even more is the people that sell everything including their homes, and choose to live this way full time, travelling from rest stop to rest stop, Walmart to Walmart etc.
Let me see if I can guess what happened and correct me if I am wrong. The deal is there are already laws/rules against this. However they are not enforced. The politicians made the decision not to. Why? Their reasoning is; "there has to be a place for them to stay." No, wrong. It wasn't like this a few years ago. Like your fellow Canadian Justincredible. He would say, you can live in a motorhome but, keep moving. There are cities in California that enforce overnight camping; Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Calabasas, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, etc. Every time I drive on Centinela through an underpass, I marvel that one side of the street (Los Angeles) is packed with homeless living on the sidewalk while the other side of the street sidewalk (Santa Monica) doesn't have even one homeless. Why? Enforcement that's why. So, what is the solution? The first think is make it illegal for non citizens to purchase real property in North America. Yep, less deep pockets will make real estate prices to go down and the rent prices will follow. Next, enforce the existing laws.
I agree that there has to be enforcement of existing laws. I watched casinos in southern Nevada take advantage of the COVID shutdown to eliminate free overnight parking for RVs. They want you to stay in their RV park or rent a room for the night.
The poverty line raises twice the rate of inflation. Thats why with past generations their number one concern was inflation. Not who was screwing who or whose kid was smoking crack Their number one concern was INFLATION.
They are going to widen the highway here soon. So this rest area will be cleared out soon. Carolyn better make it to this location quick if she wants a free place to park her moldy old class C.
