Hey guys, nice tour of the keys, not to expensive to do it from my lazy boy recliner ! I lived in key West as a kid in the mid 60s. My dad was base commander of the southernmost Air Force fighter interceptor squadron in the US. He and the group were flying the delta dagger F 102 fighter intercepter aircraft out of Boca Chica airfield which was an Air Force installation at that time. The navy runs the base now. This tour was right after the Cuban missile crisis and dad spent a lot of time in the air circling Cuba keeping an eye on the situation. I was in the 7th grade and the junior high was right across the road (Hy way 1) from the boat docks almost downtown. Loads of fun every day cruising the docks after school to look at the catches the boats brought in. The island was a great experience for a kid back then. Again, thanks for the tour !
Back in I think it was 2009, we were driving to Key West & had to look up “Key Deer” because the sign didn’t make sense to us. Since we absolutely loved Key West, it is on our list for our retirement travels. We’ll need to stop this (that?) time at the refuge. We stayed at Suite Inn (killer deal as it was July & the US was loving Canadian money coming in d/t the bank collapses) and found a small Cuban restaurant tucked in somewhere outside of Old Town. We walked everywhere.
I hope they put the key hole in a better place on the new bikes. We love ours but I have to lay on the ground to get it in. As for the keys been there last year, won’t be going bank.
That section of Bahia Honda did open, but it's for 18' or smaller RVs and tents. The sites can handle larger, but the road is small making it difficult for long trailers and trucks. We'll be at John Pennecamp, Curry Hammock, and Dry Tortuga next spring. Can't wait!
We'll be back down there for our annual Thanksgiving trip. Been doing this for over 20 years. Staying on Marathon this time down at the Marina. Love Big Pine Key!
We stayed at the Geiger Key Rv/Marina.. spring 2022.. it was an awesome place, right on the water with our own tiki hut. could fish right out the back..
This past January, my wife and I camped in Key Largo. We drove to Key West in our GMC 2500 HD Deisel. Finding parking was so much fun. 🙂We did eventually find a spot and had an absolute blast. Love the Keys.
Great video. Would love to visit the Keys sometime. Just so expensive or HOT, your choice. We are glad you are in our neck of the woods. You'll have to do a video on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad that is probably not far away. Then over the mountain to Cades Cove, our home away from home for 40+ years. Bike the loop road at sunrise. Beautiful.
I bet you never knew your channel was educational, except maybe for some of Chad's how to videos. I've been to Key West four times and never knew about the tour of the doomed. Maybe I'll have to go nest time. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
We stopped at Big PIne Key RV a few weeks ago and I was told by the lady at the front counter that "we allow pets, we may refuse certain breeds and size". Also, ,regarding Bahia Honda, they are reopened on the north side now and those camping spots had some small travel trailers in those new sites you had in your video. Fun video, thanks for posting! We stayed at sunshine Rv in January and hoped to see those deer but no luck. What we do know is they are serious about the speed limit in that area lol
We are staying in the fla keys for 14 days it’s not too bad we are 3 miles from center of town it’s $ 48.00 a day we are staying at NAS Keys west fla it’s nice to be retired USMC

I always enjoy the songs you play with your videos. I can plug in the lyrics and find some of them. Would you be so generous to list the SONGS & ARTIST you play when you post a video? Even if you could do a 1 or 2 hour video compiling cool listening music with your scenic drives to listen to would be appreciated. I personally would listen to it over and over. Thanks! We get asked fairly often about how to get the music in our videos. We use EpidemicSound.com, Musicbed.com, and Artlist.io for all of our music under a creator's license (royalty-free). We know that some of the tracks are in iTunes, but many are not. The best way to find out is to use the Shazam app or ask Siri “what's this song” (Siri uses Shazam) as the music part plays in our video. If it's available, Shazam should recognize it and show you where you can download it.
What kind of electric bike did you end up getting? I looked for a video with the new one that you mentioned but I couldn’t find it. I’m in the market before I head to Florida in January and I don’t know a thing about them. I think you mentioned you’ve had three and I’m curious to know what you liked and didn’t like about them. What did you end up with?
Bahia honda was(?) a tent campground. Maybe why the sites are so small. My cousin drove one of the tour trolleys before covid shut them down. Then he retired. He made good money doing that.
Staying in a state park in the Keys is near impossible, I have spent WEEKS online trying to get a spot as they come available to no avail. I think the only way to stay is to get lucky or to just keep going back and looking for gaps in other peoples vacations, I see 1-3 days during the week here and there, but nothing where I can go to the keys and STAY for a true vacation.
It is nationally illegal now to say no dogs allowed. You must say no pets allowed, or only service animals allowed. After enough lawsuits, people are getting the rules straight.
Jump overboard, hang out in the water drifting for an hour. That's why real macho sailors have no problem wearing those nifty PFDs, even before they leave the dock. Anyone asks me if I can't swim, I just invite them to just just in and try to float next to me for an hour or two. (G)
