You definately have to plan ahead but that sign is a little misleading. That's 10,000 pounds per axle (or tandem) - still not enough for your coach but 20,000 lbs is much better than 10,000 lbs.😊 Love your videos and the explainations you give. Keep up the good work.
Correct on the tandem and that people don't know what that means their weight should be. We've been explaining what that means as well. Should've explained it in the video. They also should have a sign at the town entrance about it and maybe one that points an arrow which way to go. There's literally 3 businesses in town. But hopefully we'll get it on the mapping system soon. Thanks!
The Rand Mcnally truck maps list low clearances and weight restrictions. I don't know if that bridge would have been on it, but something worth checking out.
We were using a Garmin specifically for truckers. It wasn't giving us info on these bridges. I'll look that up to see. Would be good info to pass on. Hopefully, we've shared this with RV Life Pro & it'll be submitted.
When I was trucking I would use a dry erase marker and put directions on the windshield when I had to go to out of the way odd places. More than once I had to back out a mile when I got lost. GPS and specially google maps satellite view can really help. I always looked at stores or warehouses on which to get in.
I drove truck for a while and luckily for me I had a great trainer. He thought me to use everything that was available to see where I was going. That way I wouldn't get myself into any sticky situations. Thanks for watching!
Love your video on trip planning. Just finished watching your video on Magnolia trip showing bridge weight limit to your destination, followed by another video from another RVer plowing right through that bridge in their RV. The funny thing is this RVer even pointed out the weight limit sign, however, they traveled right over the bridge. The differences between the safe and responsible RVers and irresponsible. Thank you and Keep up the great videos.
Thank you for noting that. We watched so many huge rigs cross that little bridge. The thing they don't consider is not only will they have to pay to replace it, but their insurance probably won't cover dragging your now broken RV out of the water or any repairs. Good luck if they still owe 10s of 1,000s on it too. We always choose safe over convenient.
Oh dear. Maybe someday? Thanks for watching & being part of the conversation. We touched on the German history of the area in another episode & will share more about it. Here's that episode: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fcTCQMisQvQ.html
Hi, we have been watching since Rosie 1, and really want to know if the great level of stress you seem to always experience is worth the RV life style. We really want to watch the destinations, and interesting places on the way. You spent 99% of the video stressing on common known considerations that RV,s know about and are Normal Routine Operating items. Wind, low over passes, and low wires. Why would you purchase a trucker’s GPS, and not a Garmin RV GPS that will route you based on your actual RV specifications? We experience enough stress and in todays world, Looking forward to more “ how to” and videos about the location’s. Keep sharing we will continue watching.
Thanks? Not sure of your definition of stress? We're showing our real lives as it happens, not making it all look like Roses and Lollipops so as not to mislead people that it is all easy. We try to provide a balance of How To Maintain RV, How to be Location Independent, and travel. About the Garmin. Jamie is a Class A (meaning trucker) truck driver so has the Garmin truck for that. We're on a budget & wanted to use it for RV travel as well. We have switched to RV Life Pro now. Hope I've answered your concerns. Thanks for sticking with us.
It was fairly distant (like 100ft}). But if we left too much space, on the weekends, small campers were squeezing in between. So just enough and not too much is the best there. Plus, JonesN2Travel was coming to join us (upcoming episode). They're 70 feet long! So we were trying to plan space for them on the other side too. LOL
Between RV Trip Wizard\Life Pro and Garmin 890 (supplemented with Google Maps Satellite View) we have mostly been incident free during our travels. All GPS and electronic maps need to be supplemented with your own evaluation of the real life conditions. All will have you do stupid stuff if you follow them blindly. Thanks for the trip to Magnolia Beach.
You're so right - you can have every app and system but paying attention to your surroundings and watching ahead is the most important thing. Thanks for watching!
I tried following along, I'm not sure how you got to your spot avoiding the bridge. I assume it's a loop, and one way didn't have the bridge to contend with. Looking forward to more info about the area and what there is to do in the area. We too use multiple GPS mapping during travels in our class A. Appreciate your info! Matt S
If you take hwy 316 to Ocean Dr. You can avoid that bridge. Going that way you won't go through the town of Magnolia Beach. Hope this clarifies the route that we took. Thanks for watching!
Good work. Stress is reduced with good planning. We have downsized to a TT that is under 11' tall and under 7000 lbs. It's a lot easier than the fiver we had. And the floor plan makes it seem almost as roomy as the fiver. But we are not full timers, so our requirements are much less.
Great video,. You guys are a perfect team always have each other's back, checking and planning will keep you out of trouble you have proved that. Good luck and stay safe.
Hello. We took that trip a few years ago and we loved it there. we found a low bridge but we turned around and got on the right road. We even stopped at that rest stop 30 miles before there. Hope you guys are doing great. We Enjoyed the video
