Good info. Is there a way to change the hysteresis so that the heat pump doesn't cycle on/off as frequently. I have heard that RVers have placed a small blob of plumber's putty over the thermostat's internal thermistor which increases it's thermal mass which serves to increase hysteresis about the set point. If there isn't a way to configure this "smart" thermostat for hysteresis then how does one open the thermostat to access the thermistor?
