The pay as you go is the best way to do it if you can. We don't have a tow, but some friends just got there tow all set up with a second braking system.

Yep. Buying the RV was just part 1. Then we had to equip it for full time travel. $$ And we will be renovating it too. 🙃🤑

Thank you. You can purchase the RVi Command Center (tablet & hub) separately. But you should ask RVi to see if its compatible.

In the 4 months since this video, have you any thing that stands out I should be aware of. I have been looking at systems and just about ready to purchase. Thanks for the great informative video. I did subscribe to your channel after viewing this video

I have not had any issues with the system. It works great. We are not affiliates or receive any commission for doing the review. I just found that everything that the system had to offer would best fit our needs. Thank you for subscribing and for watching!

A few states Donny require vehicle braking if the tow car is below a certain weight. I could tow my Smart car (1800 lbs) in most states without brakes.
@RoamingWithRosie
@RoamingWithRosie 2 года назад
Makes perfect sense. Some of them make it more complicated by basing it on stopping distance too. A few states don't require if the toad is under 1500. What will you do in that case?

So the tablet and the brake controller communicate without blue tooth and or wifi correct? Do they talk more or less like a TPMS system. Although I have a booster antenna on the back of my MH so it communicates with the Jeep tires. Thanks, good video.
@RoamingWithRosie
@RoamingWithRosie 5 месяцев назад
The system connects through WiFi. If you buy their TPMS it connects to the Control Center tablet and doesn’t require a booster. Their TPMS connects through WiFi. Thanks for watching!

I enjoyed your video, thank you. Just wondering, when you manually apply the brakes going down a steep hill (touch centre of tablet) does it apply full breaking in the towed vehicle? And for how long?
@RoamingWithRosie
@RoamingWithRosie 2 года назад
The manual braking responds the same as when you apply the brakes normally. If you just tap the tablet it would be just a short brake kind of like what they call stab braking. Just trying to maintain your speed going down hill. If you were to press and hold it's going to apply a lot more braking. hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Do you still like your RVi3 after a year of experience with it? I'm setting up my 2017 Ford C-Max to use as a dinghy and am considering the RVi3 and Blue Ox Patriot 3. They seem similar in operation, although I think the RVi3 has a lower profile. Do you like the command center as much as you thought you might? Any other thoughts? BTW...your channel is my favorite on the full-time motorhome life!
@RoamingWithRosie
@RoamingWithRosie Год назад
Yes. We like it very much. Compared to the Blue Ox it's much more portable. Linda can easily set it up. The Command Center is user friendly & being able to apply more braking without applying the brakes on the RV has been really good. And thank you for following our channel!

Just wondering when you use the engine braking system on a class a diesel coach , does the braking system adjust to that system
@RoamingWithRosie
@RoamingWithRosie 2 года назад
The RVI brake system works off enertia. If the RVI brake senses that you're slowing down, it applies the brake. We've never monitored it to see if it kicks in when the engine brake kicks in. Hope that answers your question. Thanks.

We just picked up nice 2000 Jeep Cherokee sport and we want to flat tow it. Where does the vacuum for the power brakes and air for the extension cylinder come from?
@RoamingWithRosie
@RoamingWithRosie 2 года назад
Everything is built into the unit. It's gets it's 12 volt power from a 12 power source in your vehicle. Thanks for watching!

How does the charger part of it work?
@loucatozzi7656
@loucatozzi7656 Год назад
Hi there. I read in another comment and your response that the system uses inertia to sense when the RV is slowing down/stopping and applies the brakes in the toad. Which part of the system senses that change in speed? The unit in the toad? The puck? Or the tablet? From just watching your video I got the false impression that the tablet was used to manually apply the toad brakes and that was the extent of the system. That would not be good as, in a panic braking situation, I would probably not think to hit the button on the tablet. Otherwise a great review and overview of the system. Did you set up anything to control the lights on the toad to indicate turning, etc?
@RoamingWithRosie
@RoamingWithRosie Год назад
The unit in the toad is the part that senses the change in speed. In a panic situation you would just apply the brakes as normal. Pressing the brakes on tablet is an option if you choose to apply them say if you were going down a hill. I personally don’t use that option. I did a wiring kit that is part of my tow setup for lights( brakes, turn signals, etc.) Thanks for watching!
@loucatozzi7656
@loucatozzi7656 Год назад
@@RoamingWithRosie Thanks for the further explanation. I like the fact that the unit in the toad is basically self-contained and is not RELYING on anything from the RV other than the breakaway cable. I was concerned about the tablet or the puck running out of battery on a long haul or if I forgot to charge them overnight.

About to purchase, since it needs to plug into the cigarette lighter, the RVi battery charger seems like a must. How hard is setup for the charger or did you pay someone?
@RoamingWithRosie
@RoamingWithRosie 10 месяцев назад
It’s easy to set up. It can be charged either 12 volt or 110 power. Thanks for watching!

Do you have to use the included chargers or can the cords be plugged directly into an existing USB strip.
@RoamingWithRosie

You are going to have to use the included chargers. You also want to charge each component at a separate plug. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

There are no electrical connections with motorhome, correct? Only the 12 V from the battery and I assume it has an internal air compressor to make the air actuation for the brake. Then how does the RVI3 know to apply the brake? Is it by inertia, when I press the brake in the motorhome?
@RoamingWithRosie
@RoamingWithRosie 2 года назад
Sorry to get back to you so late. We are clearing out the house and moving into the motorhome. It works off of the 12V in your tow vehicle and yes it is activated by the inertia when you apply your motorhome brakes. Thanks for watching and safe travels!

I'm sorry. We had a difficult experience calling as well. If it helps, we found they reply to emails every time. Never returned phone calls . They were having a terrible time with parts from overseas being delayed. Took forever to get our tablet. We havent had a problem with the system yet.
