This was a memorable RV trip. Full of stuff, that we have never experienced before. What an incredible Memorial Day Weekend. First time camping at a Florida Sate Park, first time using a dump station & first time camping with friends and fellow RVers. We visited Collier Seminole State Park, which is located in the Florida Everglades. The 7000+ acre park is conveniently located in the outskirts of Naples and Marco Island. The park lies partly within the mangrove swamp of South Florida, which is one of the largest mangrove swamps in the world. A plethora of wildlife.
Collier Seminole State Park is the site of a National Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark, the last existing Bay City Walking Dredge. Built in 1924, it was used to build the Tamiami Trail Highway (U.S. 41) through the Everglades and Big Cypress Swamp, liking Tampa and Miami and opening Southwest Florida to Travelers.
Campground sites have electricity, and water, a picnic table and a grill. The bathhouse have hot showers and there are laundry facilities available. A dump station is available for RV campers.
Visitors can experience this park's remarkable wilderness on several trails. The Blackwater River originates in the park and meanders several miles through the mangroves to Blackwater Bay and the Ten Thousand Islands. Great for canoeing, hiking biking or just relaxing on a weekend getaway!!
