Happy Never Again.... Yeah this volume is a rollercoaster and I'm so excited. Also the entirety takes place in less than 2 days and as you saw, picks up right after the end of 7. The Atlas Arc is probably my favorite set of chapters since the Fall of Beacon. It's incredible.

So just a bit of info, this entire volume takes place over 36 hours

Shame you've seen the Genie in the Staff, but as you say, it's not a huge spoiler, a lot of the fans assumed there was someone in every Relic well before the confirmation. "Photography girl" is Velvet and she is from Vale, evacuted to Vacuo with the rest of her team. Trumpet boy, Flynt, is in Atlas Academy.

Just a little clarification: They’re not mining the moon. They can’t go into space. Dust doesn’t work out of atmosphere. The crater is literally from when Atlas was raised into the air with the Staff. It naturally left behind a hole in the ground. Pietro is still voiced by the same guy he was in V7. Same guy that did Lee in the Walking Dead games I believe. Him shooting the councilman was probably more surprising because Sleet was just an ordinary civilian with no aura. Happy Ever After turns into Happy? Never Again.

I'm looking forward to seeing their reaction to a lot of parts to this season. Basically every episode from here on out haha

Hey guys .. If you finish Volume 8 before Volume 9 is out, I STRONGLY suggest that you Do a Reaction for RWBY Chibi. It is An EXCELLENT Spin off of the show with episodes that are only a 5-7 minutes long. So you can cram 4-6 episodes per reaction and finish seasons 1-3 within a few weeks. Trust me when I tell you you won't get the Full RWBY experience without RWBY Chibi.

I think my favorite part in the opening is the fact that in the Volume 7 opening you see Clover's hand come up to grasp his lucky clover charm but in this Volume you see him drop it, signifying his death. It's so subtle, I love it!

Cool thing to notice about the start of the intro, when it shows the RWBY girls pose and the images of their past selfs, the placement of them alludes to the Wizard of Oz • Ruby’s is on her hood/cape, Dorthy (wanted to go back home) Ruby’s hood is just like Summer’s but it’s red like Qrow’s cape it’s symbolic of family, family = home • Weiss’s on her chest or her heart, the Tin Man (wanted a heart) we know Weiss struggled with being kind and being open to friendship •Blake’s is on her weapon, the courage to fight, we know Blake had a habit of running away instead of facing her problems, Cowardly Lion (wanted courage) •Yang’s is on her hair or her head, like she said to Adam in volume 6 “I may not be faster but I’m smarter!”, her hair is also yellow which is the same color as straw used to make a Scarecrow (wanted a brain)

"Mining the Moon" What the actual F@(#! WHat show are you watching?!

17:24 - "Why was that more surprising to me?" 1) Sleet is dead. (And it's kind of interesting because the reason we can be so certain he killed Sleet is because we saw him try to kill Oscar. I don't think the off screen death would have been as effective without that.) 2) Sleet was a regular civilian whereas Oscar, even though he's a kid, has been in several fights and can use his aura. 3) Sleet was not a threat to Ironwood. He lost all political power once Ironwood declared martial law, he's not a fighter, and even if he was they were surrounded by soldiers. There was no reason to shoot him. One could try to justify Ironwood shooting Oscar as him getting the drop on someone who could fight back and cause real trouble for him (esp. since he has Ozpin). But none of those rationalizations exist for him actually killing Sleet. And if you were hoping/expecting someone to get through to Ironwood, Sleet's murder makes it pretty clear that isn't going to happen.

Oh look, Neo's back to taxi driver after doing Cinder's job for her. I will always hate Hazel's new haircut, and his Earth Kingdom outfit. I've always assumed the crater was left behind when Atlas was raised... and if it falls, the survivors of Mantle get squished. Pietro has the same voice. The teams are reshuffled so the right people *coughsemblancescough* are in the right place for the plot. Team FNKI is Atlas military, loyal to Ironwood; team CFVY are currently in Vacuo. Yep, this is Ironwood now: batshit crazy and following the Book of Villainy, chapter by chapter. The character whose point of view we could empathize with - or at least understand - since volume two, has literally been assassinated, and this is the only note he plays from now on. And he didn't shoot the lady too, but we never see her again anyway. They both should've been locked up next to Robyn and Qrow. Near the end, I'll ask you to imagine Ironwood had done that instead of cold-blooded murder in the first frickin' chapter; you'll see why when you have context.

It's important to realise that Cinder only obeys Salem because currently she has no choice. She simply doesn't have enough power yet to overthrow her. The key word in that is YET. Cinder's goal throughout the entire series has been to become the most powerful being of all. As the tiny flashback at the beginning of the episode may imply, Cinder absolutely *_despises_* being subordinate to or less than anyone. What would a former servant do when given all the power in the world, I wonder?

New Season, new Facts! Fact 1: Chris Kokkinos had a hard time working on the first scene of the episode featuring Cinder's scraping of the floor and chair, as the sound effects needed made his teeth and ears hurt. Fact 2: Kerry Shawcross refers to Monstra as an "organic ship". Fact 3: While Chris Kokkinos is not the voice actor of the elderly Faunus in the episode, he had to record effort audio for his scene in the episode. Fact 4: The spinning door to the Happy Huntresses' hideout was a challenge to design the audio effects for. Fact 5: In one script, the scene featuring Ruby's Group was much more chronological as opposed to the flashforward editing used in the final episode. This was changed in order to make the sequence more visually interesting and have it so that it flows much better. Fact 6: Originally, the scene in the hospital started by showing Clover's corpse and the Ace-Ops reactions to it. However, it was later changed to the Ace-Ops being shown first and then showing Clover's corpse due to them feeling like showing his corpse would send the wrong tone for the volume and felt like it would have seemed like it was for shock value. Fact 7: The scene featuring Ironwood and the Atlesian forces in the hospital was written before Volume 7 had started airing during 2019, and was stated to have become a heavier scene as the year 2020 went on. Fact 8: The vocalizations for the Grimm at the end of the episode were done by Chris Kokkinos. Fact 9: The painting in the Happy Huntresses' bar with the woman wearing an eyepatch is an image of the bar's owner. Fact 10: The bar also features a poster of "Six Swans Vodka". This is the same alcoholic drink that Willow has been seen drinking in "Cordially Invited" and "Dark".

The Whale is like Moya from Farscape....it's a ship / forward operating base but also technically alive (in the way that Grimm are)....its bulbous head is reminiscent of the smaller "seer" Grimm and serves the same function, i.e. long range audio-visual communications.

I legit love how they designed Salem's Montrail to be a flesh battleship. Some legit full on Zerg whatever 40k lovecraftian alien horror you wanna input. The idea is both creatively amazing and just unsettling cause you're yesterday cruising in the hollowed out innards of fucking Moby Dick on giga steroids with gravity control and wings.

So the ending is actually 2 parts. Happy Ever After? Happy Never Again? RWBY is largely inspired by fairy tales and a lot of them end in Happy ever after. Here though team RWBY is in the middle of a war so they change it to Happy never again.

Oscar at least was in the process of becoming a huntsman and was a known fighter. The councilman is not a fighter. It's a VERY important line both morally and legally, and Ironwood blew past it with very little hesitation.

Technically the gods didn't leave Salem with so much power, she gained the malicious intent *after* they'd already left by dumping herself into the dark brother's pool and ended up bringing herself up. They did send Oz to try and stop her, not their fault it didn't work; but tbf they should probably just come back and destroy everyone again. (I have a theory that they just aren't paying attention to this planet anymore right now and are just waiting somewhere else for the relics to summon them)

This is where the series starts to lose me a bit. Ironwood went from socially-awkward general with trust issues to "shoot-a-guy-for-no-reason" in canonically less than an hour.

So the Brothers/gods kind of are those parents who leave their kids with their abusive older cousin and expect the chores to be done/house to be clean when they get home...
