It's kinda weird how some things, like this song, lean so hard into the edgy they loop all the way back around to being cool.

@@desreploid3353 I think that's because edginess isn't inherently bad or cringe. What makes the typical "edgy" annoying and weird is just the fact that the people who act like it or write it are just... Really bad at it, and make it just absurdly stupid instead of cool and dark.

@@desreploid3353 Edgy is just Cool with horrible execution, this include mocking parody attempts like overexaggerating some of the stuff they do to make them silly. See Vergil & Garcher for perfect examples of it back in the 2010s when the term edgy didn't exist. When someone tries to copy cool but has atrocious execution, misses the point or/and falls flat, that's when they are edgy & 'trying too hard'. Done well=Cool.

@@kingraplhmativo5178 after volume 8 I feel like the description fits Penny more than Winter, but the person I had in mind is the third technically-participant in that fight, Vernal. I unironically believe Vernal really was the Spring Maiden Lionheart talked about and she and Raven somehow found a way to transfer the Maiden power from her to Raven without killing her. Mostly because Lionheart, who knew who the previous Spring Maiden was, didn't show any signs of suspecting Vernal is a fake after seeing her.

@@Ponera-Sama Vernal wasn't Spring Maiden, Vernal wasn't her true name as well as mentioned in the commentary. The spring Maiden's name was Vernal. This girl named Vernal doesn't reveal her true name to the writers themselves.

Listening to this I wondered why Raven didn't use portals on Cinder. Because she can only make portal to those she has bonded with. So Raven would be stronger fighting against those she cares about. Leave it to a Branwen to have a semblance that makes them good at team-killing.

⁠@@Le_Fenix Do you really think she was trying to kill him? She’s cold but she wasn’t out for blood against Qrow. The entire crux of Raven’s character is that she’s stuck balancing how terrible a person she is with how much she does care about her family (as much as she tries to pretend she doesn’t.) She’s a killer, a coward and a deadbeat, but deep in there she still loves them, her semblance is evidence of it.
