Well, she did lie. But Ozpin did it out of paranoia and self-interest. They are doing it because they don't know which adults they CAN trust, especially after Ozpin, Cordovin and Lionheart

DJSmallz That’s the exact same thing. The fact that they are worried about who they can trust means they are just as paranoid as Ozpin was. Like you said, Lionheart pretty much justified his paranoia. As for self-interest I don’t think that’s the case. If he were to tell people, one of two things would happen. Either people hunt the maidens and relics down for their power, or people would panic about Salem inevitably bringing Grimm. Probably both. I wouldn’t be surprised if this had already happened in one if not multiple of Ozpin’s life times and he knows the dangers of people knowing the truth not just from speculation but from personal experience. If anything he was looking out for the world. I’m sure Ruby is slowly realizing why Ozpin did the things he did, and now is doing them herself. I’M surprised they didn’t realize this sooner. My prediction is they are going to realize their folly and apologize to Ozpin for their behavior.

Too whom it may concern I don’t know where people are getting this idea that he enlisted them in an unwinnable war from. He made the huntsman academies for two reasons. 1. To protect the relics, because if brought together the gods will come back and Thanos everyone. Even one relic is two much power for one morally grey person to weird. 2. To fight the Grimm. Regardless of if Salem existed or not. Grimm would still roam the world and kill people. People (huntsman) need to be trained to protect the citizens. He never enlisted them to fight Salem herself. He hoped they would never have to but it was inevitable. Completely out of his control. The unwinnable war came to them. Ozpin keeping secrets prolonged the inevitable for as long as he could,

Salem was immortal WITHOUT the Grimm influence, she's extremely powerful without that, and despite what Jinn said it doesn't seem like the Grimm influence actually changed her personality all that much. Not sure the silver eye'd thing would really help.

Can't edit. That being said, with how paranoid Ironwood is, who knows how the idea that he can't trust Ozpin would affect him? At the same time they saw first hand how well keeping secrets worked out for Ozpin and now once this gets out they've established that Ironwood can't trust ANYONE, so... this should be fun.

No Consequence She originally did everything out of hatred for the Gods and because she wanted Ozma back, but that isn’t the case anymore. I’m guessing Ozma coming back helped her suppress the Grimm inside her but when he betrayed her it consumed her completely.

But she was on her own for quite a while. Enough time for humanity to come back, start civilizations, and for rumors about her to crop up, and she hardly seemed to be waging a campaign of destruction then. Was she holding herself back then? For what reason?

It really feels like a clever trick. Ruby’s not the type to lie and not feel bad for it. But in this situation where she doesn’t know who else to trust. Especially with that big of info and power in the lamp. Also, Ironwood would have told his team, which didn’t leave a good first impression and the whole world. Something you really want to avoid

It's definitely good he shows discretion in letting this play out and being subtle that he can be trusted eventually if Ruby so chooses to reveal more of what happened!

I’m thinking that if things start to get worse in Atlas and Mantel, Ironwood WILL become hostile to the group just to learn all that they know.

They have ruby tell Oscar that she doesn't act optimistic about penny and Pyrrha, but it's never shown. Hell, having a character say they're *insert whatever* instead of showing that overtly or subtly is just lazy. I'm entitled to my opinion, but I personally think that Ruby is a cardboard cut out, but she's not the worst of the 4.

Considering the fact they don’t fully trust Ironwood, they kinda have to keep the secret. They can’t trust anyone else. Besides Ironwood would have told his forces (who we know nothing about) that captured the team (which didn’t leave a good first impression). And then the world. People would be panicked and wouldn’t side with them in an unwinable war. It be more panic behind more panic than before

@@regulusking4299 here's my problem, and I will try to sum it up in order to not write a paragraph. (Happened anyway) They kept the exact same lie as Ozpin, but stepping back for a minute can we ask if the secret was that bad? He was brought back by light god to stop his immortal girlfriend after an Armmegedon they both caused and unite humanity against an unstoppable enemy living countless lifetime's against his love which has got to be demoralizing, along with building huntsman academies which has alowed humanity to prosper to this point and has done un-messerable good, so after anyone who has two seconds to think about his back story would normally go "shit you've been through alot" but the main cast gets mad because salem *can't be killed* even though good guys should find a way around that like Avatar did. They all (exempt ruby) get exactly the same kind of mad at him, to the point where the three point their weapons at crow for a second... CROW. The hate felt forced as hell, it's like disowning someone for eating the last slice or pizza, but now that Ruby is telling the lie, the gang are now acting rashionally and have different feelings about it as shown in v7 ep3... the writing goes back and forth on what is and isn't important. But to sum it up, the hate Oz got for keeping the secret was "saposed to be so bad they no longer trusted him" but that kind of impact goes away when another character does it, and I know what you said in defense of that desission, but I can give as many valid reasons as to why they should have told them, he apologized, he told them his entire plan (as far as we know), the past two volumes were about how important it is to tell the *Truth*. He returned the relic, and any repercussions for keeping the truth that will happen will have come from characters, who were mad they weren't told the truth...

Wouldn´t that be kind of a Downgrade though? As long as her Core survives she´s pretty much immortal. And we know that she has a soul since she can generate Aura. Plus, she´d lose all of her neat Robot equipment and weaponry.

Nah, that would be stupid. Penny is better off as a robot, if she turned human then she can't be restored if she dies again. Thanks to being a robot she was able to be rebuilt after being destroyed. Plus, her badass laser shooting powers and swords she shoots out are all built into her robot body. If she turned human, she'd probably lose all of that.

It would make sense why we haven’t seen or even heard of Wiess’s mother at all in the series. Other than the family picture and when Wiess was talking with Yang in vol 5

I'm wondering that as well. "Stable condition" could mean that she's drying out somewhere. A bit obvious, with Raven/Yang, but I won't gripe about it.

It depends because of different factors. If her mother is the winter maiden, then that means that Weiss is in fact daughter of a maiden who will eventually get magic powers of her own (her semblance is kind of like magic in a way). It could also explain why her father is not happy at all and really strict about atlas because they took her mother away and locked her safely for the good of atlas, which is why we only see her mother in paintings and pictures rather than walking around the house. Weiss's mother not being the winter maiden really just depends on time. Depending on how long it has been from the maidens birth to when we actually get to volume 1 is beyond me, but I can probably say that if it has been a couple 100 years or so between the timeline (could be wrong), then her mother is not the winter maiden because of aging too much. It is all just a theory, which I think she actually could be the winter maiden. Also fun fact to support: Weiss being called the ice queen and her sister's name Winter could actually be hinting at their mother being the winter maiden as well.

DarkCorrupter I does make me speculate her mom might be the winter maiden. But something to point out. You said because Weiss might be the daughter of the winter maiden she might have magic of her own. But the maiden powers aren’t biological. The powers just go too who they thought last, as long as it’s a girl. But I could see that her mother could end up dying and last thinks of Weiss and the powers go to her.

In the intro, they're both smiling whenever they're fighting. It's likely a sparring match for oscar rather than an actual fight.

I assumed they was training since the fight was slow paced compared to how we seen them really fight. I think looking at them being introduced and that intro tells me Oscar might get caught up in friend territory and snitch on the whole gameplan. I hope I'm wrong though

I'm still wishing Salem is somehow unable to leave the area of her castle because I need a reason why she hasn't been taking advantage of her immortality and magical powers to get all the relics herself instead of relying on servants who would probably be less effective than her. A reason aside from the plot needing her to hang back for the sake of the heroes having a chance. I had this whole theory where Ozpin managed to seal her there in the distant past and the reason she gave Cinder the magic draining ability was because she needed the power of all four Maidens to break that spell since their power put together would be most of Ozpin's former power.

William Harmon so basically your theory is that Salem has been under the magical curse equivalent of house arrest? I mean that’d be neat and all but you’d think Oz would’ve mentioned that at some point during his eons of effective immortality and reincarnation.

I don't think Tyrian would be able to harm Salem regardless of what she said to him. He seems to revere her like a goddess. Sure, physically, he could rip her to pieces, but I don't think he could make himself harm the person he reveres above all else, even if he knows she's unkillable.

Well, the WoR does specify that Dust begins to lose it's power as it leaves the atmosphere BUT it does also reference that "modern man has yet to make the technological advancements required to achieve space flight". So really it's not like they ever said that it was impossible, just that it's not possible yet. Add with the WoR showing a space shuttle type vehicle during that segment and you can see that it's likely that it will only work because of the sheer size of Amity and the power it can generate. For reference, this was discussed in Volume 3's WoR: The Cross Continental Transmit System, which discussed the communications issues on Remnant.

You mean like breaking Atlas' back? Context to those who don't know: In greek mythology, Atlas was a titan tasked with being a pillar that held the sky up. Forced to carry the "weight of the world", so to speak. If whatever that keeps Atlas afloat is destroyed then the Kingdom's back is broken.
