RWBY Volume 7 Chapter 8 Reaction - ABOUT DAYUM TIME 

While I did call whitley a little asswipe for so long, what willow said really reminded me that he’s just a kid stuck in the same situation weiss and winter were, and just like him they both at some point tried to suck up to their dad to get by, only difference is he is the youngest so instead of having siblings to rely on like weiss and winter may have, he is stuck alone in a house knowing his older sisters have escaped the hell hole leaving him behind. While one feels the guilt of being left behind the other feels the guilt of leaving them there alone.

"How does it feel being alone?" Well when ya only got an alcoholic mom, an abusive dad, and your sisters abandoned you, it feels like shit.

Let's go! 3 episodes in a row! And yeah, Jacques was definitely abusive. We saw a little bit of that when he slapped Weiss in vol 4. The next few episodes are where things start to pick up! Can't wait!

Maybe it's because I'm very empathetic, but I never truly disliked Whitley. Annoyed, yes, but never hated. Whitley, although being a little piece of shit, is also a victim and the rest of the family didn't really give him a chance to be a better person. His mom is a shut-in alcoholic, and despite being a victim herself, also didn't do much to stop the abuse. Winter left and didn't really want anything to do with her family (except Weiss), Weiss was basically like Whitley before she met Team RWBY, at which point she avoided her family (aside from Winter) like the plague. Everyone except for Jacques actually showed Whitley any real attention, but he was basically the default option since his other siblings left. Then when Weiss came back (forced back), she causes problems then gets Klein (butler) fired, the only staff member we see be actually kind and warm towards the siblings. Not once did they care about Whitley. His snobby, "What an interesting way of saying, how are you dear brother, how have you been?" Albiet rude, is to be expected. From what we've seen in the show so far, they only really talk to Whitley when they have to, and it usually has nothing to do about if he's doing alright, just wanting to catch up, or just to have a normal conversation with their little brother. I'ma be honest. If I, the youngest and only son, was basically abandoned by my older sisters who couldn't careless about me. Left with a neglectful alcoholic mother and an abusive overbearing father. Just to have the last person who would have actually cared and showed him attention, Klein, fired. I would also be a snobby asshole to my sisters too.

part of my feels bad for the lady who had the lady who had the food fall on her, but at the same time there was so much room to go around yet she decides to walk between the two people she can clearly see having a conversation? kind of feel like she had it coming

Jacques as far as i know didn't physically abuse anyone in the family at least not until the time he slapped weiss, tho his readiness to hit her and not be ashamed at all afterward makes me think he might have done it before Willow is more doing it because Jacques is extremely manipulative and emotionally/psychologically abusive towards everyone in the family Weiss even said back in vol 5 to Yang, that on her 10th birthday he told Willow that he only married her for the family name

This is what they did brilliantly, Jacques is despicable, so your natural inclination is to reject him, and yet he is right and Ironwood is wrong.
