I felt the exact same way! When I was watching it, I was like uh oh, this is how Amber was defeated and Penny is even newer with 4 instead of 3 opponents. I was definitely worried.

A scary thought that Fria was incredibly powerful in her own right, but was definitely weakened by her old age, and while Raven was immensely powerful in her fight against Cinder she probably wasn't trained properly on how to use a maiden's power assuming that she's held it for a while while both Amber and Cinder are portrayed as novices using the power of Fall we haven't seen a Maiden fully trained and at their peak go all out. Just imagine how powerful they must be.

@@codekisaro8030 Qrow teamed up with the guy who basically almost killed him in V5 to fight Clover. Qrow knows his bad luck would effect Clover if he wasn’t fighting with him, which played right into Tyrian’s hand of having Qrow break Clover’s aura so he could kill him. If you’re dumb enough to team up with someone who is evil and almost killed you to beat the fuck out of someone who’s basically become your best friend over the past month or two and they end up dying, I think it’s pretty much you who murdered him. You didn’t stab him, but you did 99% of the work against him.

The discussion of Ruby's Semblance suggests that Ruby "feels out" her Semblance more than she actually understands it. Between Volume 7 and now, we've had a couple of episodes where characters comment on its capabilities. Do you think this is meant to pay off in some way later? Like, maybe Ruby ends up clutching out a major victory using her new understanding of her Semblance and expanding what she can do with it?

@@Samocoptor It seems that they always reassemble when the semblance is deactivated. I imagine that any outside interference also stops it, like Mercury kicking her out of it in the earlier volumes (unless it evolved to this point and didn't have this property before).

Blake really did a 180 on me. I used to dislike her because of her constant unnecessary drama, the whining and leaving everyone behind out of fear. (before anyone comes for me, I still get that it was part of her developement but that doesn't make it less annoying and frustrating to watch while it happens back then. even more so when you have 3 other characters blooming next to her. especially weiss changed rather fast and great which made Blake look like a wet noodle in comparison ) But in Volume 7 and so far 8 she has completely surprised me , spit some wisdom and is just winning me over more and more. Leaving her new traits aside she also feels a lot more included in conversations + fights alike which is awesome to see!

If you look at right before the door busts down you can here Marrow telling them to "Hurry up! I can't-" meaning there is an upper limit to how long he can use his semblance, and also that eventually someone can break free of it.

What’s hit me most this volume is how grown up they all are. Yang at V6, Blake and Weiss at V7, and now, Ruby. Even and especially in the first episode this volume, when they were picking up Oscar, she was so grown up, and it really hit me how much they’ve all been through

Some food for thought: Something that Ironwood doesn't get is that running away, a.k.a. lifting Atlas high into the sky, is just prolonging the inevitable. Salem is immortal, she's lived for thousands of years. Eventually, Ironwood is going to die, and someone is going to take his place. And then someone else taking their place. Until eventually, the tale of Salem will just be a myth, and eventually someone will get curious and try to go down to the surface, only to find a suped up Salem with 3 relics on her side. And that's even if Salem doesn't create a Grimm with the capability to reach those heights. We've already seen the big apes grow wings, and now we have the hound, so how long do you think it would take Salem to create a space grimm?

I'm glad they're giving more serious attention to Ren & Nora's relationship. It was just quirky & funny back in volume 1, but just like how Qrow's alcoholism was played for laughs at first, we see now that Nora's relationship with Ren is actually pretty co-dependent and unhealthy...she's lost her sense of self. My heart was breaking for Nora this episode...even when she stepped up to "be strong, hit stuff"...that made me feel so sad. She overclocked her semblance and indeed did something awesome, but at what cost? There's more to Nora than that. I wasn't as giddy as Arnold because in my gut I suspected this would have dire consequences. I'm glad Blake was here to talk to Nora, and Weiss too. It's one of the few instances where Nora's ever really opened up to anyone to talk about her feelings.

@@sligen not really considering that we have been taught that semblances and grow and evolve over time with practice, as demonstrated by winter helpin in to develop Weiss’s semblance, along with the visual change in yang’s semblance. It still works with what we have been told in universe

Well, on the bright side, I feel like Nora is pretty safe for the rest of the Volume after suffering such a major injury, but then, I figured she was pretty safe already, since killing her off would basically be a repeat of Jaune and Pyrrha. Now, _Ren_ on the other hand... I haven't been this worried for my boy since late Volume _4._

Marrow's semblance isn't broke. Being a maiden doesn't mean you're stronger against other semblances. You just have additional magic powers. And multiple times we've seen him struggle with it and it takes a toll on him. I'm also sad you missed all the hints that Marrow is going to switch sides. There were so many little hints. And like two big ones and you missed them all.

Interestingly enough, all 3 of the people she used it on previously to the big group traversal this episode are present here as well, and thus knew what it felt like to be carried by Ruby this way. Blake was the only one who hadn't experienced it before.

Yeah, but I don't think Ruby understood _how_ she did it. She also may not have completely noticed that she converted her friends into a different state when she did it. Also, she never really applied her Semblance to Penny before. When she carried Penny in Volume 2, she did so normally, which is why she got weighed down and fell on the road. She hadn't gained enough control and skill with her Semblance at the time.

Murder your reactions are so good, dude. Always a pleasure! I really enjoyed the bit with Nora talking with Weiss and Blake. I also felt the weight of her reply to Weiss "...Like what? Be strong and hit stuff?" I dunno, it seemed sad to me. I wonder what Weiss was about to say/do after, she appeared to take a step toward Nora before they were interrupted. Anyways, I really like idea of dividing up the groups so that we can see more interactions like this one. Sometimes it's hard to be honest and open with the ones you are closest too, and its easier to open up to those that aren't in your immediate group. The scene was really nice and I like what Blake said about not forgetting who you are and Weiss line of finding out who you are. I feel like the Special Ops did a better job of fighting a Maiden than Cinder's group. Granted it was 3v1 to 4v1 but Penny is also a robot with ridiculous inhuman capabilities. It was a really awesome fight and the team plays were awesome. The episode was fantastic and I enjoyed every bit of it - although damn did everyone have to just on Bill like that? That was harsh lol.

agreed but it does make sense as her mother stated last season she never rely attempted to form a relationship with whitley only winter leaving him to be with Jacque. this in turn made their relationship even worse as time went on with him viewing her as a obstacle to the fortune and Jacques approval while weiss viewed him as a clone of their father without considering her part in his development which deepened the rift.
