Neo is without a doubt a master illusionist. The best illusion she conjured was the idea that revenge would bring her peace.

This was probably the last time Billy Kametz will ever voice a character. Let's honor him, his final voice role was UTTERLY FANTASTIC! He did Roman perfectly.

Neo literally crushed what *little* hope Ruby had left

Neo broke down in seconds. In that moment, everything she fought for, what she wanted, she finally succeeded. However, she realized she had no purpose anymore. Ruby is gone, Roman is dead and avenged. I’ll bet behind her smile, she was breaking on the inside. She knows full well that the Roman she created in this episode is just that, a construct, an illusion. The two of them put on a stunning performance when in reality, it was a one-person show. The cat possessing Neo and not Ruby was actually the better and easier option. Ruby at the very least was aware and tried to resist. Neo meanwhile, was completely shut down. She wasn’t aware of what was going on, and if she was, her mind was too flooded with grief and crisis for her to care. I honestly wonder if the cat’s power gets stronger the more torn apart the host is.

It’s a nice touch that before the curious cat attack he hiss at his targets before attacking like a actual cat would. I think Neo offed Little because Little was the last of Ruby’s hope. Crushing Ruby’s last hope in front of her eyes. That’s what I believe

12 hours left for the reaction to premiere, and I can already hear Arnold screaming and yelling.

I remember when Neo was first introduced people were theorizing that she was also based on the Cheshire Cat. So this is rather amusing.

Ruby’s emotions can’t tell the difference between killing someone and failing to save their life. Ruby “killing” the Oscar illusion and seeing her friends being disappointed and appalled is Neo playing off of Ruby’s helplessness to save Oscar as he turns into Ozpin. “Can you really stand to watch more of your friends fall?” It doesn’t matter that it wasn’t real, Ruby was still failing to save the real Oscar

This episode was absolute nightmare fuel.

So... something you may not of realized is that the Paper Pleasers literally saved Jaune from the Curious Cat this entire time, by giving him purpose & allowing him to cope in this messed up way, he managed to avoid the cat & his manipulative games... since the cat was looking for a vessel to fill all of himself with to get to Remnant after hearing that the 2 gods who created him also went there & the fact that the Relic of Knowledge exists... but Jaune just wasn't close enough to breaking & was already weary of the cat now after the girl & boy who fell through the world... so, he had to look for another way, & when team RWBY showed up, he became curious listened to what they had to say & find out how much they knew when they said they "knew Alex", & hatched a new plan...

Roman was partly voiced by billy kamets, who unfortunately past away a while ago. He did a great job here, and It was good hear him one last time

Neo killed Little the way she did to resemble how Torchwick died, sudden and unexpectedly, for Ruby to know her pain.

I WOULD say Neo's not herself when she's hungry, but she just ate a whole cat, so...🤣

I havent heard anyone talk about it, but I like the callback of Ozpin hitting Ruby with his cane, literally beating reality into her that she isnt a hero, much like how Torchwick did moments before his death back in Season 3.

God this chapter left me just as broken as ruby was

Fun fact: the face Neo makes when the cat gets her is very much Pyrrha unholy screaming energy.

Like Arnold said last episode, Ruby needed a chance to speak. Everything was happening too fast for her and she needed to get her feelings out. And when she finally lashed out, the scene played out terribly for her. When she finally started to speak her mind, she ended up getting told off by Jaune (who was also completely broken). Then, he took the spotlight and made everything about him and his terrible situation while Ruby was once again forced to stand behind him without being able to finish what she wanted to say. Knowing that such a confrontation eventually led to this turn of events, words can't even describe how sorry I feel for her.

Bro, even the end scene said: "In loving memory of Billy Kametz" That legit almost made me cry QwQ

If you thought the Crunchyroll thumbnail was bad. The VRV thumbnail originally had Pyrrha Penny, AND Lionheart sitting at the table. When I saw that thumbnail I literally said "NEO YOU DID NOT!!"

I think deep down Neo knew Cinder was to blame but her anger with Ruby who was there when Roman died blinded her with rage but now that she’s got rid of Ruby

CC knows about the gods, relics, and Salem. Salem's still broken hearted about her kids. CC probably wants to go to Remnant, take over Salem using her broken heart, and summon the gods.

Imagine being me, hearing Bumbleby got confirmed so I finally caught up for the first time since Volume 6, rewatching the entire show from Volume 4 onwards in 3 days, and this was the episode that was current when I finally made it to the end.... *Pain.*

It's like how RT put Raven's maiden eyes as a thumbnail in a Volume 5 chapter on their site.

Something I just realized about the cats character design. So the main colors of them are purple and blue (teal if you wanna get technical). But then in this episode we are shown it's true colors, figuratively and literally, which are white and black. This concept seems very similar, does it not??? Like say, Salem?? Before she plunged herself into the pools of grim, she had the purple dress, the teal necklace, overall just the coloring in a way seems similar. Just something that caught my eye. Almost funny who in some ways the cat and salem seem to have common attributes.

6hours left until Arnold absolutely loses it...not just to Ruby...but, definitely...everything

As I've always said, Neo is highly susceptible to the manipulations of others. She really thought she was the greatest manipulator in the world, but ultimately ended up as just another pawn in the Curious Cat's larger game. Just like how Neo was just another pawn in Cinder's larger game - at least *_twice._* Neo displayed her peak villainy in this episode, and it was glorious; I loved it! However, Neo could never operate on the level of villainy and cunning that bigger and badder villains such as Cinder Fall and the Curious Cat do.

Bruh, akechi's VA is always suited for a villain. The dude's voice brings a chill down my spine every time.

There's a rumor that the curious cat is like Jinn and Ambrosius and represents the Crown. And on top of that it can make sense bc the cat love asking questions just like the king did bc of the crown in the animation. And the three diamonds on the cat head, one is on the middle and two of them is near the ears match the Crown where the diamonds are exactly placed. This is probably downfall of the user if they used the Crown since it's a curse and that will overwhelm the user since it's something that human can handle.

The cat knows he can summon his creators with the relics since rwby told him about everything, I have a feeling if anything he'll try to get to remnant and compete against Salem. If he can get to remnant that is

This whole episode was just trauma central for Ruby. I was excited and sad seeing Penny and Pyrrha again. I was also screaming "Jaune tried to warn you guys!" when the curious cat tried to possess Ruby. Sure, Jaune wasn't okay, but I trusted him more than this random cat that we just met not that long ago, so I wasn't even surprised when the cat said they weren't being totally honest. The cat situation aside, I just know team RWBY's gonna feel immense guilt after seeing Ruby off herself (or ascend in this case assuming humans can do that). I think it'll hit Jaune the most since he already has truama from "failing" to save people and he's the one who yelled at Ruby and blamed her for everything even if he did apologize afterwards. Yang's gonna feel it real bad too since she practically raised Ruby and should know her better tham anyone else, but failed to notice what was going on with her before the emotional outburst as shown by the WBY conversation in the paper forest. Among the main group this volume, Jaune and Yang have been the closest people in Ruby's life since Volume 1 so that's why I think they'll feel it the worse.

The musical score (and soundtrack of course) this season is phenomenal! P.S. I still can't believe they offed Little like THAT. That scene caught me off-guard, dumbfounded, and speechless. Considering all that transpired this traumatic episode, that says a lot.

This episode giving its creepy vibes makes me think back when salem appeared in front of the team that felt like a horror movie moment too like how salems body moved & the way she appeared large an ghost like than the screeching was pretty creep vibes this has that feeling too like goddamn

Little, of course, is a high point in this episode, but I realized he is also a refutation. In the first episode, Little is terrified of cats, but after spending time with Ruby, he's willing to attack a cat by himself to help her. It is the perfect of illustration of 'what' Ruby is.

I absolutely loved this episode. I’m sad about Little though. But also anyone notice when Ruby is telling Neo she’s not going to apologize, and she waved her arm? For some reason that looked really weird to me, like her arm was jello.

"Ruby, it's been nine seasons of the show named after you already, would it kill you to have some character development?" Ruby: SIIIIIIIP "NOT LIKE THAT!"

Anyone else think Arnold hit that last "inside" line in the intro perfectly?

This episode was emotional distressing on so many levels. I'm just sad that this volume is already almost over

This episode is my favorite rwby episode ever. The struggle she goes through… on not wanting to be her. On chasing away people because everyone dies around her. Not ever being good enough. That moment where someone starts feeling sorry for who they are, who they are not, who they couldn’t be… where they look back at every single mistake and blame themselves, suffer from survivals guilt, trauma, and are being crushed under unbearable weight… She has actually become a character I can relate to with really novel level depth.

An empty cup, an empty mind, and an empty hole for those left behind...

Crunchyroll did me even dirtier than it did Arnold because it was penny, pyrrha and lionheart smiling at Ruby

I think after everything shocking that happened this episode Roman being in the thumbnail is fine lol. Also, as skeptical as I have been about RWBY lately, this season actually renewed my faith a little(maybe cause of the meta commentary), I just hope it sticks the landing.

Oooh the different pieces being places the gods tried to make makes so much sense! Especially since it doesn’t look like there’s natural paths from one to another, the bridges were formed after. And that’s why the bridges are kind of half dark/half light too because the different segments were made by different gods.

When I saw I am absolutely DISTRAUGHT! I was legitimately terrified the entire episode. All the characters at the table were goin in and then OSCAR! I just couldn't cope with it all at once. I can only imagine what the next episode holds in store.

I'll say this, no one I've watched puts as much dedication into reactions to the intro as you do. Adding some extra touches like another screen for the vocals above the thing you're reacting to is brilliant.

OMG the ever after is just a library, a zoo, for their creations. The gods put a piece of their creations here after they're done with them and made the cat to preserve them as they were.

Roman gave Neo what she wanted to hear and gave her what she wanted “true freedom “and that’s not a bad thing but everyone has a goal they want to reach. Roman wanted to be free to do whatever he wanted and did everything he can to achieve it but Neo she wanted to do things but she never had a goal of what she wanted to do with her life, Roman wanted to live free but Neo had nothing to begin with and she was okay with that because she had Roman but now she has nothing

This coupled with Owl House last week broke me man 😂😂😂😂.

I don't know about you, but I think I can relate to how Neo feels after killing Ruby and the fact that she just feels so unsatisfied about it afterwards. After all, there are a number of characters from different anime who have fallen victim to this same feeling as well. How they just feel so unsatisfied after carrying out their revenge.

My theory is that the Brother Gods saw the cyclical existence of Afterans, never dying, and realized the error they made. And so they abandoned it, leaving the cat there as a mark of their "failure" So that's why they hold an importance over death. Why something like resurrection is so foreign to them. Because they've attempted it themselves and have seen the results.

But they did ask Ruby to be perfect. Yang, her own sister, criticised her in Atlas. Said her plan wasn't exactly working out. They have been critical and honestly have barely been there for her. I know it can be so hard to see form your own perspective, but that doesn't mean it's not there. They should just take what she says at face value and trust her feelings and believe her feelings, just like they trust and believe her as a leader. You can't pick and choose.

Something that clicked for me after multiple rewatches... If there's anyone to blame all these deaths on, it's not Ruby. It's Cinder. Pyrrah died fighting Cinder. She fought to save the lives of her friends and of all the innocents of Vale. The only part Ruby played was arriving to late to help, and that's hardly her fault. Penny died because Cinder messed up the evacuation of Atlas and Mantle. Oh, Jaune may have dealt the killing blow, but it was at Penny's request, to deny the power of the Winter Maiden to Cinder. It may have been Rubys plan, but Cinder is more the one responsible. Lionheart? He threw in his lot with Salem, and was killed by her (or the Oracle used to communicate, on her orders) when he failed her. This became a problem only because of Cinder leading an attack in Haven. (This one is the loosest, I'll admit) Ironwood and Clover are both dead because of Ironwoods paranoia. There's been a lot of discussion in the FNDM about the whole thing with who is to blame for everything, but Cinder tipped the scales with that. Damn. Chess piece on Ironwoods desk. And that led to Clover, Qrow, Tyrian and Robyn figting in the aircraft, to the crash and to Clover vs Qrow. Ozpin died giving Jaune and Pyrrah time to escape and get help. Ruby played no part in his death. Torchwick, we all know. He was part of Cinders plan, made a big speech about how everything is pointless, got eaten by a Grimm. But ultimately? Responsibility plays no part here, and Neo Tea Party. The point here is that these are people Ruby knew, people she trusted, she cared about. And how best to hurt someone, than to hit the while they're hurt, by the people they feel they've failed? The reason I bring up Cinder and her culpability? Because before going after Ruby, Neo attacked Cinder. To paraphrase Cinders comment in Volume 6, "I didn't kill your boss. If you want revenge, take it out on 'Little Red.'" Cinder is more responsible for what happened to Roman than Ruby is. But Cinder is also a manipulator. She convinced Neo to go after Ruby, make her the target. "Offing Little Red" became her main goal. And when she got it? It didn't make her feel better. She could switch targets, go after Cinder, but even if she could best a Maiden, Neo now knows revenge wouldn't make her feel better. It just left her hollow, and a prime target... For a very Curious Cat...

I might be wrong, but if you listen closely, he says " why my maker HAS left me here.." When i turn it up I hear a slight "hh" sound. Even in that case, he could be referring to a specific god since they have their own individual creations (with humans being their first combined project).

Why is it that the two brothers want Salem to learn the importance of death when they had created the Ever After without death but rather Ascension

So much happened in this episode : the come back of certain character, the fall of Ruby and the true motive of the Cat. Can't wait for your next video for the next episode.

I do like that we hear a tiny bit of Neo's real voice when the Cat talks while possessing Neo :)

I'm glad you only got spoiled by the Torchwick thumbnail... I had the whole freaking table of characters spoiled for me that morning in the thumbnail before they changed it to Torchwick (and then to what it is now).

i remember when RT said YEARS back that Neo would do something that would make us all hate her, I wonder if this episode is it? i mean i won't give any spoilers but after episode 9, i really think she isn't making it out of the ever after alive

So how’s everyone feeling after this episode? Considering it was also the same day The Owl House ended, for me… I think I’m scarred for life now. 😅
