Lewis.....as in Lewis Carroll, the original author of Alice in Wonderland......I don't think Alyx escaped the Ever After....Lewis did. He wrote The Girl Who Fell Through The World to memorialize and immortalize his sister. I think Alyx features so prominently in the OP because she's STILL stuck down here.

Yeah… Also Jaune’s had a really tough time while shouldering the plot progression of this episode.

The part about this episode that impresses me is how very cleverly uncertain we're made of the cat. Despite, as far as we can tell. The cat has never told a lie, or even really a half truth. He mentioned how he helped herb, he mentioned only he can go to the tree rather than being called. He mentions alyx, and even goes into decent detail about ascension. The audience, like team RWBY, are conditioned to grow used to the idea that the cat is going to lead them back to their world. But thats not what Ruby asked him to do. She asked to go to the tree, she never thinks to ask about alyx in detail or even how exactly she got home. She *is* just using him. Just as he is using her for bis favourite thing, knowledge and entertainment, and he says as much. The great irony of the afterans seems to be theyre very honest, but noone seems to believe them. Especially remnant people. Another thing I love is how focussed the ever after is on role and purpose, but because team rwby cant seem to grasp the concept that well, they keep accidentally making things worse. For example, they asked the herbalist for help getting to the tree first, not help getting the parfait. They then got super vague with the herbalists questions. Effectively like going to a doctor and saying "it hurts somewhere and I'm hoping to be fitted for a prosthetic, when youre actually there to get an x-ray on your left foot. Like no freaking duh he cant give them very useful help. Even the blacksmith seems to deal in peoples weapons, perhaps containing a portion of their purpose or similarly equipping afterans to fulfil their purpose, or adjust it But team RWBY is too deep in their own heads, and too sure that a book is a 1:1 representation of what the ever after is. That they dont truly try understand the world. They just want out. And ofcourse during all of this Ruby is slowly fraying because she wont sit down and deal with her emotions. And the others are so used to her being indomitable and feeling the pressure to return home that none of them are really sitting and dealing. They need like a weekend of hot chocolate and crying and hugs and *talking* but they wont even take a few minutes And this is still basically the same day that all of volume 8 took place in. This is the first night rest they get at the end of the episode. Not counting however long they blacked out for when they washed up on the beach

It's very interesting that the Curious Cat actually WANTS to go to Remnant....He has almost god-like powers....maybe the Cat can turn the tide in the War against Salem?
