From "Ry Cooder & The Moula Banda Rhythm Aces: Let's Have A Ball", a film by Les Blank taped at The Catalyst, Santa Cruz, CA on March 25'th 1987. SONG DOWN IN HOLLYWOOD, EXCELLENCE THEME !!!
So good! Great back-up singers and the brilliance of Ry Cooder! He's got more spirit and soul in his little finger than 95% of today's rockers, always had it, but just didn't do all the fluffy promotion. Just a naturally talented composer and musician with his own vision. Lovin Ry Cooder for over 50 years!
RC has had some great bands ,but this was the all time greatest line up ! We got to see this show a couple of times in the bay area. So lucky! Thanks to every one of the guys in the band. Good as it gets!
Another musical Legend that i was introduced to as a youngster due to my Dad's love of Rock n Roll and a little blues , Cooder was one cool cat, it's funny but I imagine him to be like an Eminem of his Era in regards to being a white guy with an outstanding talent and passion for a marvelous style of black music .
Ry was interested in all kinds of music;that why i followed him since the 60's..check out his playing in Buena Vista Social Club(1996).he travels to Cuba(via Mexico) & records with Cuban musicians
From early on and evermore playing today!! Ry Cooder has taken music of so many varieties and colors to some many ears who appreciate great grooves, stories, and tremendous improvisation!! Muahs RY!! Don't stop!! Don't stop!! Never Stop!!!
Never passed up an opportunity to catch Ry Cooder or David Lindley / El Rayo X when they would raise the roof @ The Catalyst in Santa Cruz from Fall '84 on... Good Times!
Did Jim Keltner play in EVERY great touring band, and EVERY great studio record of the 70's and 80's?? The guy is everywhere! Fine, fine stuff. Thanks for sharing cristian julian coco!
yep that's classy; that cover was to prevent beginners from accidently muffling all the strings & also to move your hand to the better plucking position closer to the neck heel
Huge thanks! Bought Bop til u drop on pink vinyl years ago, changed my life but had never seen this live stuff before. Amazing, wonderfully understated solos too- nothing to prove. Can I borrow this band please? Stu X
I got lost in LA one night...I was supposed to be heading home to Arizona...but because I tend to be directionally challenged, from time to time, I was driving and all the lights disappeared...it wasn't long where I deducted that, because there were no lights in one direction, I had probably run into the ocean...and I needed gas, too, so I stopped at this station that came off as "you're in the hood now, Bobby"...hahaha! Nobody gave me any grief, though...they were probably like "yeah, these "I don't know which way I'm going" kind end up here from time to time...was born in SoCal, too, so one might think I'd know better...I think it was in the '80's, haha!
Thank you Cristian for down loading or up loading I'm not even close to being a geek lol But been a fan of Ry Cooder since his first album....and still listening to his currant music. But this one is one of my fav songs and one of my fav recordings. Never saw him live but thank god for youtube I can continue to appreciate his music and words. Thank you again, and many happy music filled days left in your life.
Great performance but would like a long version without the band introduction. Where to find that? Though it is a collection of superb musicians whose names should be known to a wider audience.
I stopped there on a Sunday , on the way back to Phoenix in '74. Nobody there but us and 10 cops at a donut shop , and we all left feeling like we had done something......wrong....btw we were in our last year in the USAF.. Must have been our short hair.................
