When my daughter was an infant and would cry I would sing this song to her. It was the only thing that would immediately stop her from crying and she would just stare at me quietly until I finished the song. She also suffered from car sickness and so I would keep a cd of this song in the car in case she started crying....never failed to stop her from crying and put her in a peaceful place till we got to our destination. She's 7 now and doesn't remember the song but I do :)
Glad to know there are good people out there that express the value of caring for their kids. I love my kids and good music, both always seem to compliment each other. Godspeed.
This guy is in a different league when it comes to song writing..so underrated..he's like a rare diamond..his music will live on forever. Thank's for your music Ryan!
Peter, I agree with you. But I must say that Ryan is not, necessarily, underrated. I just think that he is under appreciated. People in the music industry know what a, complete, badass that he is.
@@markvelazquez2458 but yet again people like Ed Sheeran get on the spotlight. And he remains hidden. But I guess better this way. Good music is not written for the masses.
not sure if anyone gives a shit but if you are stoned like me atm you can stream all the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend for the last few days :)
Was fortunate enough to see him perform in London recently to a full house at London’s most prestigious theatre. A solo set lasting well over 2 hrs. and I’m pleased to report that after a few turbulent years for obvious reasons, the boy’s still got it.
I’ve been lucky enough to see him play around 10 times in 7 different venues over the years and he has never disappointed glad to hear that hasn’t changed
Idk if he will ever really come back, but he'll always be one of my favorite artists.Thankfully he put out a lot of material. His solo performances are amazing.
I think he has enough of a following to start coming back. Let's be reasonable, Bill Cosby is out of jail, I think we can let DRA not be totally canceled. His writing is genuis! I'm enjoying the IG lives for the moment, I'll take it!
All that beauty usually comes from a dark place. You have to know what you’re getting yourself into when you get romantically involved with a deep, introspective type artist. If you can’t handle it then don’t go there, or get out of there and don’t complain and say it was abusive. You saw the red flags. Genius is never easy to handle. You don’t get that kind of brilliance without complications. Behind everything that’s beautiful and mysterious is the pain that drives it. And if you’re an artist yourself then you should understand this more than anyone.
It's enough already. All the videos here on you tube all have the comments turned off of Ryan Adam's songs. This is one of the few I've found that you can still comment on. The shunning never was appropriate and it's got to stop. This man clearly stated his shortcomings, frailties, imperfections, and fears for all the world to hear and see years before any of his shortcomings came to "light." It should have come to no surprise to anyone when he fulfilled any or all or one of them. When, as a community of his fans, his coworkers, his associates that also probably made a lot of money from his work will we end it and allow this man to create again? It's been much too long. It's time to free this man. As a society we (probably not his fans) have put this man in a cage. We have to release him with a movement beyond wrist ribbons and hashtags. I love Ryan Adams.
@shanedresser543 1Amen.Honey ,you spoke my heart beautifully ,as I agree with you completely on all of this my feelings are the same ,I tell you true.Yes,he is a gifted and talented artist so 😢 .I just love him so ,he's a poet .God bless you always.💞💐🌸🌷♥️🌺💝💕💖💖💖💖🧬🌹🐕🦺
This is my favorite version of my favorite song of Ryan's. Discovered very early in my Ryan career about ten years ago. What an amazing songwriter, singer and musician!
If I met Ryan, I would thank him for the help he has given me for the last fifteen years. He was able to explain so many tough situations to me with his songs. Thanks, man.
What I love about this is that it's just a guy with a guitar...and yet it's spellbinding, has the audience in his hands...could hear a pin drop if there's a pause between chords and lyrics.
+Michael Doherty Hi Michael. hey, that's great to know! I would so love to see him live. Darn, wish I could have seen him on that tour. Thanks for sharing your experience. Cheers, G
No auto-tune here. Just a man's voice and his guitar. Stellar music, and if he doesn't drug himself to death, he will likely become legendary in his music genre. Right now, one of my favorites, tho Jason Isbell is my current favorite. I think they have worked together, and I would understand why. Artists of a feather flock together, to wrench a metaphor.
favorite artist of the 2000's. listened to him consistently up to this day, probably the longest of any band or performer. saw him 7-8 times, including the solo acoustic tour, which I'm willing to wager is the kind of show everyone of his fans wished to see one day, sans a backing band and electric guitar. he has put out things I wasn't really into, but that's going to happen from time to time from such a prolific artist. he gets dismissed at times as a poor man's Jeff Tweedy, I think the world big enough for both.
+fearthetube Im not sure if your comment was pertaining to ME calling him a poor man's Jeff Tweedy, or the insult itself. If it's the former; I don't think of him in those terms, I referring to how he's been categorized by some. Like I said in my comment, he's my favorite artist of the 2000's. I've seen him every time he's come to the Boston area between 03 & 2010-12(I can't remember when exactly it was but it was when he did his solo acoustic tour). If your comment is on the latter, I agree.
+fearthetube Actually, I thought about it later on and realized that it was actually Ryan Adams himself that made the comparison of himself and Jeff Tweedy. I don't think he called himself the poor man's Tweedy, though it was something like that. it was an interview, hell, back in 04-05( around when he came out with "29", Christ, I was 29 then too, seems like forever ago). He was talking about how people made the comparison, and he basically said " I know I'm not as good a writer as Jeff Tweedy or (some other song writer that I can't recall). To be fair though, I think this was in one of his SEVERAL self destructive phases. Though not as bad as when he decided to put out a death metal album, or when he days he wasn't going to make music anymore, he was going to put out books of poetry instead (NEVER a good idea, one only needs to read Jim Morrison's terrible poetry to realize that good song writers don't always transfer well to written word, I think it's the fact that they write KNOWING there's a melody over it that makes the songs good).
God... I can only make it halfway through this right now..... It's tearing me apart inside... Ryan had an amazing stretch... And a lot of his music coincided with ups and downs in my life. Right now I'm down and can't handle the beauty of this song.
willie838 I know the feeling. Just remember the lower the down means the better the up usually gets after. Ryan is the soundtrack to my life for as long as I can remember, and when I never think I'll be ok again, I am, and he's got songs that make the roller-coaster of life worth riding. I'm you, and I hope you're ok.
True talent... loved him from day one many years ago. His live show is the best around, waiting patiently to see him again. All time favorite musician and I hate when people refer him to Bryan Adams damn !
For all the hours here that move too slow There's all this letting go, that don't pass If all this love is real, how will we know? If we're only scared of losing it, how will it last? If I am a stranger now to you I will always be, I will always be Stronger now than me, stronger than you Our love will always be And if we let it go, I will try to be there for you If I can, what if I can't? Today is yesterday when you don't know How to rebuild the walls that someone has knocked down To tell the truth, it's hard enough without a lover Who you want to hide your darkness from So they won't let you down If I am a stranger now to you I will always be, I will always be Stronger now than me, stronger than you Our love will always be And if we let it go, I will try to be there for you I will try to be there for you If I can, what if I can't? For all the hours here that move too slow There's all this letting go, that won't pass If all this love is real, how will we know? If we're only scared of losing it, how will it last? If I am a stranger now to you I will always be, I will always be Stronger now than me, stronger than you Our love will always be If we let it go, I will try to be there for you I will try to be there for you If I can, what if I can't?
self-taught genious......this song always reminds me of my pal Al....he said it was written about him and his relationship with his Dad at the time it was written...love you Ryan.....love from J' ville.....
I have been a fan since Whiskey Town. It's sad that as the years go by and not one bank j Has peaked my interest. Ryan has a 6 octive voice and he is one of the best writers in the last 50 years. I confess he is a talent that comes around once in a lifetime. I was sure Ryan was going to be the next. Iggest think. But doesn't matter we found him and I think were gonna keep him
So good m8! Ryan you are the soundtrack of all of my days--thank you for your music. Thank you for teaching me not to fear and to put your heart into what you do. Honest and true. Pure love and respect for the craft. Genius...
I love his music so freakin' much, I truly appreciate YOUR sharing with the world. I haven't listened in so long it feels so good to revisit his tunes.
The only other artist i have seen that compares to this talent is Martin sexton. In terms of live performing with a guitar and vocals, they are incredible. There's nowhere to hide. Only a true talent can pull it off
I'm glad he created this version (on the Follow the Lights EP). I like the Cold Roses version too. It's just that this tempo and approach seems to fit the song a little better.
