And so young too (early 40's)... i am 39 and dont look that old , but i do feel like i lived lifetimes. I indulged in illicit substances for almost 20 years (clean now) but that lifestyle totally catches up, so i wonder if that came into play with Neal and Chris.
@@b.csplatbriancross7062Shame on you. What a hateful, gross comment. Go appreciate bad art and keep the Cardinals' name out of your angry hillbilly mouth, you emotionally maladjusted weirdo.
The Cardinals brought out the best of Ryan Adams musically. The live shows from 05 till early 09 were some of the best concerts in the history of rock n roll. Think that’s an overstatement? It’s not. Google them and listen. I understand that Ryan may have been difficult to work with, but I’m speaking of nothing but the music.
Bub Worsten those “semi acoustic” shows from 06 and 07 are some of the best shows I’ve heard. The sound is amazing. Reminds me of those may 77 shows from the Grateful Dead
Whatever Ryan is like in his personal life it cannot take away his superb talent, for me his music is like the richness of the 70's all over again, he is unique and highly talented, this concert blows me away.
This is so beautiful, I actually went to bed with the TV on and the music woke me and I was transfixed and an ardent fan from that moment. I remember Neal Casal making such an impression with his beautiful voice and his deep emotion coming through with every word, I've only just discovered he passed away last year and I am devastated, such a terrible loss for a beautiful soul. RIP you lovely person.

Neal Casal was an amazing guitarist that was taken from us way too soon! Space Wolf on bass as well. Absolutely brilliant musicians. Thank you guys! 🎸🎼🎵🎶🧠🌌♾❤

Great. Miss the Cards. Great moment from @5:40-6:00 when the pedal steel solo starts and the camera pans across all the band members. You can see the contentment on their faces. I can only imagine what that's like -- to be totally in the pocket and knowing it.
thanx for sharing orange! this is one of his finest concerts. ...and that's from someone who has enjoyed this little devil ever since the 'heartbreaker' days. greetings from holland, johannes adahl
There is a certainly a purity to one man /woman w/ an acoustic.. but.. hard to imagine this show without this great band. They contribute so much, and play with incredible taste & restraint. Fantastic musicians!
I was at this show. One of the shortest headline shows I’ve ever seen-at the end, everyone stood around thinking that it was an intermission! We were stupid for being upset about anything, though. What a beautiful gig. Life is brutally short, isn’t it?
This video is so good. Why Ryan Adams isnt a huge star is a mystery to me. The only thing I can make of it is he chooses not to be a star, because he has been the most talented musician of the past 20 years.
For anyone who digs this video, head over to Archive.org and check out some of the other shows from this Cardinals tour! Amazing stuff, an incredible tour. There are more than a dozen up there with soundboard quality, a few of the best are Das Haus, Somerville Theatre, Palace Theatre and La Maroquinerie.
I'm sorry but I miss the Cardinals so bad... especially Brad playing drums. I can't watch The Shining drummer without cringing. but I'm sure they are all great guys
Thanks for adding this. Presently in a 'Go Ryan' period at the moment. I have these on/off periods with Mr Adams music. I was fortunate enough to catch this tour at the Manchester Academy, incredible, if very short show. The sound was very muddled and the lighting incredibly bad. Still that's Ryan, when he's good, he can be very good, but when he's bad......................
This song "Halloween head" reminds me of David Bowie in certain ways. And that is a great thing. Better stated, one could easily imagine Bowie writing/singing this. Guess you have to be a Bowie fan to see it, but this song could have been on Young Americans.
I guess I was leading the train. My Fav. artist of all time was Elton John until like 2002 when I heard Ryan Adams. He doesn't have bad songs. just a few that are not quite great.
@@MrRondonmon I didn't find him until 2011! Since then, I have absorbed everything of his that I can find. Here I am on a thurs afternoon watching this show again having watched it many times. Just cann't stop!
uhhhh, THANK you. I don't know why I've never done that. Currently listening to the stream of Das Haus and it's incredible. What an incredible group of musicians they are.

sucks you can kind of tell he isn't into it, and the first time he's around really really great music guys. I mean that avatar sessions along they killed it on "Taught myself how to grow old"
It doesn't seem to me that he's not into it. Maybe it was difficult for him because he couldn't play guitar having bust his wrist (again!) Also maybe was in pain.... Also he seems to be stoned. That may have a bearing on it!!!
+thredtriodictableau still has a lot of models to cover, but you not being eyewear seller i guess you can't really know. thanks. a good excuse to stop by and hear this gig again. perfect.
James Ward So im a rock guy. Hard rock/blues rock. So hanging around rock fans my whole life id hear people say they hate country. Its my opinion that if you don’t understand the difference between plastic country pop and this stuff well you basically don’t know anything about music. This type of thing along with G Parsons, The N G Dirt band etc is every bit as heavy duty as any rock out there. I mean i dont even count country pop as legitimate any more than i would count a Nickleback type band either. All genres have their skeletons but good music( or fantastic in this case) crosses over. Again if someone doesn’t see that then im done with that conversation. I know i digressed but i guess this was my long winded way of saying i agree with you 100%.
@@deanmccaskill5495 Any genre of music by definition is good! It's great to be open minded! I have to confess to being one of those rock people in the 60s and 70s that said I couldn't cope with country but in the UK, I only really got exposed to pop country. I'm older and wiser now!! Mr Adams has opened my eyes although he's not always country of course. I have a much more open mind about most music genres now. I've also been into trad folk for years! Make of that what you will Ha.
Joshua Wakefield I was there that night. Ryan was clean then. But he was suffering with Ménière's diseases which made him dizzy & slurry his speech - he is quoted as saying he felt drunk often
@@mapatterson22 I do love a lot of acoustic stuff, but there aren’t many things you can do with a voice & an acoustic guitar, with a full band you can go much further. I want my ears to bleed, I want my hair blown back, I want to feel exhausted by the end and still want more. Acoustic shows are far too polite
