The jam in the middle is guitar genius, it's an out of body experience. Not many current guitarists can even approach that level of playing, yet Ryan gets so little recognition. RIP Neal, you are sorely missed.
@@wlgj1341 I can't even find you in a Google search. You at least have to show up there to get some validation, or get over it. Obscurity sucks I guess.
Absolutely!! Man, i love Ryan's new music, but I can't help wonder what it would sound like with the Cardinals. Doesn't get much better. The performances from the Henry Rollins show are my favorite... these sessions are a close second.
I love 95% of Ryan's music, but seriously, he's never had a better band than The Cardinals. I've seen them 5 times, and each time was a complete different yet just as magical trip
Just now learning Neal died by suicide last August. This breaks my heart. This song popped into my head yesterday and I needed to hear it again. The world lost another top notch guitarist and singer.
In 2007, Netherlands, Europe, Ryan A. & C. started their gig with this song, lifting me and everyone else up, to put us down on our feet two hours later after a mindblowing version of I See Monsters. Best concert of my life.
From the 2min mark on, it’s an absolute masterpiece of musicianship. I love Ryan’s albums , esp easy tiger and cold roses. This performance is like the figurative “jumps out of the page” scene. Just a simply magnificent performance…what I’d give for a dvd (lol) of this whole session of the cardinals in full flight. RIP Neal!
Ryan Adams is arguably the greatest and most prolific songwriter of his generation. It really is a shame how his career was bascially destroyed overnight. There are other legendary artists who have done far worse and are still remembered fondly.
@@macrosenseEXACTLY he was cleared of anything horrid and the major big mouth against him has recently been proven as a creep that enjoys making up things to hurt men. Phoebe Bridgers is a psycho. There’s texts proving she made up stories to hurt Ryan out of spite like she did for 3-4 other men. Another woman doing the same to Neil is what drove him to suicide. It’s disgusting. This band was brilliant. Unreal how pettiness can ruin life
Would have to be my favourite youtube clip. Perfectly captures the live brilliance of R. Adams and the Cardinals. Having caught their shows a couple of times all the way down in Australia around 2007/2009. They were absolutely outstanding!
+Todd Garno You two guys know whats going on, yep this era of Ryan with the Cardinals was majestic, saw them a fair few times. Was a bit worried the first few times i saw him with the Shining but last few gigs were really excellent, maybe not quite as good as this but still top notch. Loving how he can do this and and at the same time do the Taylor Swift covers and make them sound like they could be his to begin with, all good...
I will never forget The Cardinals. That was the most amazing period in my life. Followed their tour here in the US in 2006/2007...ended up seeing them 26 times, got to smoke some really good green with Ryan and Neal 3 or 4 times, long conversations with Neal sitting on the curb by the tour bus. Taught me A LOT considering I'm a singer/songwriter myself...especially Neal. He's an amazing dude to kick it with. When it comes to Ryan, it depends on what mood he's in at the time. I miss The Cards so much.
Very cool. Ryan Adams with his band featuring the great Neal Casal. Those two made some unbelievable music. Neal has a great catalogue of his own but him teaming up with Ryan Adams is pure magic.
ryan adams ... you were born in the wrong decade. the 1960's are the time of your calling . you speak to me although you are the age of my children. i love your poetry and your "hippy mentality.. thank you.. i love your music..you are an amazing human!
One of the BEST SONGS written in the last decade, , , I really love the studio version but this is awesome, , amazing guitar interplay, , looking forward to more genius from you Ryan!
Amazing track. It just explodes in the middle. The drummer is really follow the difficult guitar part on his crashes. And then you have the psychedelic mellow melodic part. Than back to the beginning. Its a powerful journey. There's a looseness to the band. Not every section blends into the next. But an explosive middle section in this song.
I grew up listening to Neil Young and Crazy Horse. This reminds me of their sound, but with the Ryan Adams touch and like I said the band is the great.
I'd love to see Ryan collaborate with Chris and Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes... I think they're both from the same musical world. Love this and everything Ryan does
I know this was the best band at the time …. Wished had seen this live but, by the magic of the Tube of You, I can imagine being there… with an egg shaker.
