After researching transmission upgrade options for my mild '01 Suburban 4x4, found Performabuilt has an incredible reputation, most notably everyone that had personal experience with them over the past 10 years + all said their customer service is first rate. I called and talked to Ryan a couple times on the phone, those conversations solidified my choice to have PerformaBuilt build my custom 4L60E trans, ended up purchasing 2 transmissions from them, my custom build and a mild build for my daughters '01 Tahoe 4x4. My father then researched a bit and he came to the same conclusion as I did and he also ordered a custom 4L60E for his 05 Sierra 4x4 he uses for towing. Thanks again Ryan.
I've got just about 2k miles on my Heavy Hauler with the optional 5-pinion planets, and I just want to say in all seriousness, this friggin thing WORKS FANTASTIC when towing!! I'm seriously blown away at how great this thing is! I've been turning wrenches pretty much since I could hold one. My grandfather restored Model T's, and worked on anything and everything, my dad hated it so it skipped him, lol, although he did wrench when he had to and had lots of great tricks he taught me over the years. I picked up in my grandpa's footsteps and run a very small shop at home working on everything from weedwhackers and motorcycles, to cars, trucks, and aircraft. I've owned alot of vehicles over the past 30 years from stock to hot rods. I'm telling you, I've never had a transmission work this well in my life! It seriously made the truck feel like I had done some engine mods - there's a noticeable seat-of-the-pants increase in torque (presumably from the 100x better-than-GM torque converter, and the fact there was alot of slipping going on with the OE trans), and the shifts, especially 3rd, 4th, and lockup are fast and firm. I wasn't used to the way 2nd gear hit at first, since I had my OE trans pressures cranked to the max via a plug-and-play programmer - 2nd used to hit pretty hard, but you couldn't feel 3rd, 4th, and lockup - you'd only know by listening or watching the tach ... and 3 / 4 is what burned up in that one, not surprisingly. Now 2nd hits much gentler (which is perfect for towing - no need to beat the crap out of the hard parts), and 3, 4, and lockup are fast and firm the way they should've been from the factory. It makes towing so much more enjoyable since it works so well. It's changed the entire characteristics of my '07 Silverado 1500 5.3 4x4. I plan on either buying a built engine, or buying a mild one and adding a supercharger - haven't decided yet, but it's good to know I'll have a transmission that can handle it. VERY happy with this unit!! I shot 3 videos on the installation - it was TOUGH. GM sure doesn't make a single thing easy for us anymore, plus there were some corrosion issues to deal with, since the truck has been run in MA its entire 103k miles / 13 years at the time of the swap (November 2020). I'll recommend you guys to anyone and everyone. Hard to find honest people in this day and age. I knew I made the right choice when you guys called me and discussed my truck usage at length with me, right after placing my order. Much appreciated! I LOVE this thing!! THANK YOU!! Oh, and I also appreciate the info on trans temperatures. That's one myth I had in my head from way back, that the trans wouldn't function correctly with fluid that was too cold. Since bypassing the OE in-radiator cooler, my trans temps are running 50° cooler this winter. Hottest I've got the trans so far was 170° towing in stop and go traffic. As soon as I get out on the highway, that temp plummets! It's amazing - running the Tru-Cool 40k without the thermostat.
you probably dont care at all but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me

@@PerformaBuiltTransmissions Yes 100%, I just rebuilt mine and was looking for information on break in.. come to find out it’s either going to run or its not lol. Also thank you for mentioning the 1000 mile fluid/filter service, I was also wondering about that. Appreciate your videos, keep up the good work.
Imo one of the biggest things that sets us apart from many is that particular shop, like most others, enjoy humilating other shops builds to an exaggerated degree of even simple honest mistakes anyone could have made, professional or rookie. My practice on the other hand is to give helpful advice for everyone and to let the transmission do the talking and walking instead of bashing others to make their product seem better when it actually has nothing extravagant to really offer. Focusing on others mistakes and not on your own success is a red flag imo.
Going to be pushing around 600-700 hp everybody and there moms are telling me 4l80 calling 4l60 grenades . I hope I’ll be making the right decision on your stage 3 4l60 going against everyone on this one.
I’ve purchase a tranny from you guys and it rips my tires up, didn’t see that warning on the side 🤣, I lost my instructions and I like to always keep a copy, any chance you can post a link for a copy??
Waste of money and a terrible idea. The filter in the pan still needs changed and the more coolers and filters you add creates restriction in flow. Bad idea, people need to just drop the pan.
