Things to remember: - Ultimate Dirk now has a young Dirk in Homestuck2 - There is a condese Reader out there for pesterquest 2 - Reader has a real name that we'll see in the future - Reader now has a weapon "Sword" so put him in smash Bros - The only thing that reset was pesterquest NOT friendsim so hiveswap and friendsim is still Canon to the main timeline - Reader is best character

I can't believe Homestuck had to make up a whole new multiversal problem (the Blackout) followed by a whole new solution (Locked Timeline) in order to explain the concept of a spin-off.

The funniest part of this is Chat going apeshit whenever Ult. Dirk appeared.

I think there's a beautiful irony in how Dirk's choice to, for a moment, let go of his desire for control is perhaps the first time he's ever seized control of his life from the hands of fate. Despite a considerable amount of aid from Alpha Dave, Alpha Dirk built most of his life with his own two hands. Even Roxy had carapacians around that could offer some help; Dirk just had himself, seagulls, and Cal. So it's no surprise that he's so used to constructing his own circumstances that the idea of just being handed something he's always wanted is hard for him to process, never mind accept. And that trait might be okay if he was channeling those self-starter urges into creating a happy life for himself and his friends, but Homestuck is a story of self-fulfilling paradoxes and tragic inevitable destinies, and on some level Dirk's known that for a long time. In such a universe, there's no way to have control over your life except to become a vital part of the narrative. And when that narrative finally crushes you the same way it does everyone else it ensnares, at least you can know that, for once, there was some cosmic justice in it. Or at least a bit of dramatic irony. Not that Alpha Dirk intentionally wants to harm his friends or himself (it took merging with multiple versions of himself that he despises to bring him to that). It's just that, after so spending long having no choice but to be in control of his situation, the idea that he has a choice now is hard for him to accept. In practice Roxy was the true leader of the Alpha Session, as Dirk himself realized, but he and Hal were its manipulators, and that was because he was convinced they had to be. That somebody had to keep the ship on course, or a vengeful canon would consume them all. Maybe he was even right. But it's strangely comforting, especially for someone filled with as much self-loathing as Dirk, to think that it's okay for you to be a terrible person because the universe needs you to be that. Because if it doesn't... then maybe the universe would be better off without you. And so Dirk repeatedly corners himself, either through his rigid line of thinking or through separated fragments of his own soul, into having no choice but to be in control. Everything good or bad in his life has to be earned by him. He needs to excuse his existence by making it intertwined with destiny. And in the process he, quite ironically, hands complete control of his life over to fate. He throws himself into being an assembly-line automaton for reality as if there's some grand supervisor ready to throw him out for a newer model if he ever deviates from what's needed. In seeking control, he cedes all control, because actually having to make choices would be admitting that there's more than one valid path to follow, and would force him to, yet again, confront a reflection he's convinced is hideous. Even here, when Dirk (at least partially) rejects that life, Ultimate Dirk tries to rationalize that decision not as a choice but as the inevitable consequence of multiple universes existing. But that's not how Homestuck works; choices only create split realities when the person making them has a personality that could lead them to choose either option. Ultimate Dirk - himself having become so dependent on his need for self-justification via narrative relevance that he can't see that Lord English is basically using him as his latest gambit to keep playing past checkmate - may have seen Dirk's refusal to join him as cowardice in the face of the unknown, but the reality is quite the opposite. Dirk already knows what it's like to abandon his happiness in the face of destiny. To be given an actual choice, though? To accept a directionless reality that won't be of his making? To conclude that not only could he be happier without being in complete control, but that maybe he deserves something without having to work for it? For Dirk, that's the real horrifying unknown. And it speaks to the beauty and strength (perhaps even STRENGTH) that he refuses to see in himself that Dirk was still able to face it. tl;dr I'm really glad Pesterquest gave Dirk the chance to learn he doesn't need to earn his existence.

I just realized something! Caliborn and Cali don't exist because the game was never played. And neither do the dancestors because they deal with dream bubbles that Ferrari had to make in the game

So the entire timeline that friendsim, hiveswap potentially, and pesterquest take place in has now been removed to exist as a sort of timeline B with its own canon with MSPA Reader being the First Guardian of an entire timeline. is this the fanon timeline maybe?

Hey man. I remember when you were doing friendsims (genuinely loved your Boldir impression as well as a few others) and I waited with you through every new episode of Pesterquest. Now I'm finally here again, at the last episode of your (and ours) grand journey. It's strange to think that it's been TWO YEARS since.....

I just realized, in the Seperate locked timeline of pesterquest there exists a copy of the candy timeline. Since candy dave was never taken away to meet mspar in the candy timeline alt!calliope made and resides over.

Don't get me wrong, I love pesterquest but I'm kind of upset about the ending I guess. Blub (aka mspar) never got to so the friendsim trolls? Didn't get to see their splintered selves? Never came to terms with the fact they were a narrative device? Never really got their own character arch? Didn't learn to love themself? It was good but I guess for me it wasn't satisfying... Overall I loved pesterquest, friendsim, and the writing. Just kinda sad about some things :( I hope it'll continue...
