Ryhope Engines Museum Classic Car Show April 2024 plus a tour of the Pumping Station
The bi-annual Classic Car Show at Ryhope Engines Museum took place over the Easter weekend, after terrible weather previously the sun shone down on the classic car community. In this video we'll take a wander and check out all of the classic cars and bikes on display then head into the fully working Victorian Pumping Station, a real feat of engineering in itself.

Thanks for watching Kim. We do put on a good car show up here. They're on practically every weekend during the summer. The museum is an interesting bit of engineering.

Such a variety of epic cars, loved the vw camper and the escort 1.6, so impressive to see how many cars are being looked after and shared! Interesting to see the motorcycles too, very cool. Thank you Andy, a wonderful afternoon spent! and the tour around the pumping station was epic! Thanks again.

Thanks for watching Alessa and Brett. The classic car community loves to share their vehicles with people, for most its a trip down memory lane for a lot of people. The pumping station is something else though especially when you see how the building was effectively built around the machinery, almost without any health and safety 😳.

Thanks for watching, folks. It's a popular local event as everyone has been cooped up all winter. The museum is a great example of Victorian engineering. They often have a small steampunk event here too.

Hi Andy, loved seeing the vintage cars! We have a local annual car show where we live in Arizona, It's brilliant. As well as classic American vehicles there are also lots of European and British old cars too. My first car was a Mini Clubman so the old Minis have a special place in my heart. Hi Andy, Wow some lovely looking cars there, I had a Austin 1100 when i was 18 and then a Cortina, a lovely walk around the bikes too. The museum was very interesting, the pumping station just amazes me. We have one near to where we live and do you know we have never visited it as yet, thank you for sharing take care x Julie and Tony x. OOh by the way Tony was glued to the screen ha ha

Really enjoyed this video Andy, some fantastic motors on show but must admit it was the white Sierra Cosworth & the VW camper van that really floated my boat & the pumping station was superb, what a brilliant piece of engineering 👍😁

They do a very similar thing in the summer near to Sherwood Forest where I live at a place called Papplewick pumping Station, well worth checking out Andy 👍

Hi Andy I am certain the car owners are proud of their cars...I bet a lot of maintenance to run. I have seen Artist use old car part for their projects that are really modernized. I have seen some of cars in movies...wow... Elegance in their design. love it wow this museum is outstanding for instance, pumping station??? it is breathtaking to witness the system running..wow...still be able to run. Hooray! Great work! Thank you so much for your walking tour. So much information..... Please excuse me since I have no knowledge of antique classical cars...

Hi Andy, the car show looked fab. Some cars even older than me. Also spotted a few that were around when I was a kid. It seems like I saw them yesterday. I'm not well up on motor cycles but looks like they got in the act. The engine room sounded a big noisy but great that they have refurbished or kept the old engine going. Well worth a look around whilst there 👍Paul

Yes, the day when cars you remember being newly launched appearing at shows like this is a sign we're getting old. The pumping station is a little noisy but not too bad, to be honest, being steam driven. Thanks for watching, Paul.

A good day out by the looks of it. I liked the old Rovers and the Corsair, though I don't think I've ever seen one that blue before. Some nice bikes too. The beams reminded me of New Hartley pit disaster where one like that snapped and fell down the shaft, resulting in the deaths of 204 men and boys in 1862. Thankfully they looked sound. There are some great cars there! Makes me feel old when some cars that I had are now classics. Loved seeing all the Cortinas and escorts and my mum had a Fiat 500. Some lovely classics there too like the Austin 7. Was that a Toyota with the wing doors? The VW camper was awesome! Liked the motorbike parade! Thanks for watching, folks. Yes, it does seem strange seeing cars that you remember being launched being over 30 years old. The Toyota is a Sera, a model Toyota only sold in Japan, this was an import. The camper was a stunner, its been a regular for a few years but still looks fantastic.

Had a VW Beetle that I bought after graduation from College in Alberta to drive back to Nova Scotia, pack up my worldly possessions at my parent's place, then proceeded to drive myself all the way across Canada to British Columbia for my first teaching position...way back in 1985! If I had the extra cash just sort of hanging around, I'd have myself a VW camping van just for some quick trip around the province. Who knows, maybe... Lots of money put in to those classics for sure! Awesome!!

@@OutandaboutwithAndy two things right up my street for sure. My aunty had a popular. 3 speed pneumatic wipers but when she died my mum insisted it was sold. I asked if I could have it. I would have showed it as it was mint. But sadly not to be.

@WanderingwithWatto That's a shame, Watto. My Mrs was promised her Gran's mini but it turns out she promised it to everyone and sold it to the local garage for £100 😀 He sold it on ebay for over a grand 😞
