Ryobi makes several AC Inverters and USB chargers. The 40V battery RYi300BG is nice because it has a 300W Pure Sine wave inverter, a USB Type C port 5/9/12/20 VDC rated at 2A, and a USB type A port rated at 3A. Unfortunately it doesn't have a regulated 13.8VDC Cigarette Lighter Socket. This adapter adds that functionality.
It can be used with my 18V battery adapter ( www.prusaprint... ) or with SorrowBJD's Battery Adapter for Ryobi 40V battery( www.thingivers... )

i jerry rigged 2 cheapy porter cable lipo batteries in series to bump them up to 40v and they worked just as well. it was only 60Wh but hey, it powered the inverter. I also have 2 6ah 20v Dewalt flex volt batteries that will do the same thing. any way you cut it, I will be able to power the inverter

Hi! Great video! Love your Ryobi projects! Do you know how the 40v Ryobi power station would react if ju put this solution in one of the slots? Would you be able to use the outlet wile charging the power station? Even if the outlet probably would take the power from just the one Battery in this solution and not from the other ones, it would still be great! I’m using the power station in my van but i would like to power my 12v/24v cooling box with it. And of it could be done wile charging the station, that would be wonderful! Thanks for great videos!

Could you make an adapter to be able to use ego batteries with this? There is a lot of people including myself already in the ego ecosystem that desperately need this. Im thinking that this inverter, if capable of handling 40v, might also be able to handle 56V……

Hi Chris i love your videos and I have a question The ryobi 300w USB-C says it can charge multiple off voltage ex: 5/9/12and 20 volts so what if we use a USB-C cable and cut the other tip off and put and adapter for whatever you need ex: y have a 3D display Fan for to display my art work it consume 12 volts y went to Radio chak and purchase the end part and it works no need for the Dc to Dc adapter hope it helps get the word out . On the ryobi 300w it says in small letters the different voltage the USB-C charger can handle ex : 5/9/12 and 20 volts

you don't need to cut a cable. You can order Type C Decoy ( amzn.to/3evKTMR ) that will let you select the different voltages. Unfortunately the Type C port says it is only rated for 2A. Would your fan run on 24W?

I have one of these inverters too. Do you have any trouble with the inverter shutting itself off? Mine will shut itself off, even if the battery is cool and the load is well under 300watts (was using 60-90), and the temp was cool. It is super irritating.

The first one I got didn't work and I returned to Home Depot. The one I have now is working fine. I would get it replaced under warranty

I'm looking to do something similar and I need to convert it to 12v 10a. If the battery is 40v 5a. Will that actually output the 12v with 10a that your converter is capable of?

Unrelated question but do you think a ryobi battery could jumpstart a car? I’ve seen someone who printed a cover for their drill battery connected to some car battery clips that claimed to have success. I’ve read mixed results online but nothing specific to ryobi... I imagine it’s not good for the battery

The larger ryobi batteries can put out 10Amps. That is not enough to directly jump a car... BUT if the car battery is just drained, you might be able to use the ryobi battery to charge it up. I’m not sure what electronics would be needed to limit the charge current

If it's 10 amp max than you are only getting 138 watts. 13.8 Volts x 10 amps.

the 13.8V cigarette lighter socket is only rated for 10A, the Ryobi inverter will still do 300W

I appreciate all the things you have done with these 18v batteries, but have you bad any troubles when you have run the 18v batteries in parallel? I have made something like what you have done but I really need to double the amps using two battery’s 18v batteries not just one?

No problem as long as you use similar size batteries and keep the charge levels the same. I only put fully charged batteries together. You could put blocking diodes after each battery, but it's a tradeoff. Check out my hotswapping video
