This is a brief video going over the internal workings and basic components of the 18v Ryobi reciprocating hand saw. Mine was making a howling noise for a while but still worked then one day it jammed and would only click with minimal motor movement.

Thanks for explaining this like a normal person, makes more sense than those weird robotic sounding voices. Anyway...got mine apart and the wheel thing is locked up, but nothing is stuck in there. Cleaned it and blew it 🙄 all out...no movement. I could just buy a new one, but I'll sit here and lose pieces cuz I'm stuck on yt. That's what I get for letting a dumbass coworker use my shit.

I've had the "cheap" 18v Ryobi non-brushless reciprocating saw for years. Came in a multi-tool starter kit that had a few other Ryobi tools. I abused the ever-living-crap out of that 18v reciprocating saw. At least 5 years, mainly pruning tree limbs. I bought this model when I saw a sale and it died after less than 1 year... again not doing heavy work like sawing concrete & metal in half, just pruning medium/small branches around the house. Taking mine apart now to see what I can find. Pulling trigger causes the light to come on, but the blade doesn't move. Light stays stuck on.

I'm about to go ahead and do mine after watching, thank you. I dont do much indoor but ironically I'm installing the first fence I have in this tools life that involves staples so I'm interested what's in there

I actually got the rubber boot off without cutting it. It takes a little patience but you just use a small screw driver to lift up the edges that are catching and it will slip off. BTW I'm not even getting a clicking sound. It seems my switch is bad?? No buzz or anything. I am going to work on the battery contacts too. Those tend to get corroded.

great video, i was able to take the switch out that toggles the rotary blade. just need a small narrow punch to take that little pin out and the rubber boot comes off.

I was able to just grab the rubber boot at the wide end and peel it back. Take off the metal guard at the blade end first. I snapped the blade holder shaft right off. No one seems to have parts for these. Any ideas who might have detailed parts?.
