Mark Gilston (4th degree black belt) - Judo Instructor at CooperMMA - shows BJJ applications of Ryote Jime (Both Hands Choke) as a versatile submission technique and tool from guard. www.coopermma.com/
One of these techniques used in shime waza, which was a variation of this, was applied to me by a brown belt, but it was frontal, applied directly to the windpipe, and it quickly depleted me.
there is a variation in which you squeeze the tips of the jawbone, especially if he defends by tucking his chin...my father showed me 30 yrs ago and its awfully painful
It's also illegal in judo since you are not allowed to touch any part of the face. But it certainly works in BJJ although your partner might never roll with you again. 😆
Is this choke still legal in Judo, specifically the ground one? I'm new and don't know what I can and can't do, is using the knuckles allowed? Great content as always, this channel is a hidden gem that I can see blowing up in the near future.
As far as I know, this is legal in both judo and BJJ. You can't punch your opponent, but you are allowed to push. If you squeeze with the legs, make certain your hands are between the legs and his neck, and don't cross your feet if it's a judo competition.
