Ryuichi Sakamoto feat David Sylvian and Ingrid Chavez - Heartbeat (Tainai Kaiki II) Words: David Sylvian, Ryuichi Sakamoto Music: Arto Lindsay, David Sylvian, Ryuichi Sakamoto Vocals: David Sylvian, Ingrid Chavez ℗ 1992 Virgin Records
Going to miss Ryuichi Sakamoto... Rest in peace, Maestro, Master, Professor, Sensei. x Thanks to Kevin Westenberg for directing this masterpiece of a video. Brought out the beauty of this musical team so effortlessly.
I played this piano solo that Sakamoto did on Heartbeat to my daughter lately and she thought it was pretty good. And then I played more of Sakamoto's other stuff from over the years as well. And she was asking, "why isn't he more famous? because he's very good." And I agree with her. I also agree that David Syvian's work should be more famous. At any rate, we are still listening to them both for a reason. And partially because they worked very well together.
Well, with a career that spanned for close to fifty years, that included several bands, acts, film, etc, she can rest assured that he was well-recognised, and quite famous. In any case, fame and quality do not necessarily go hand in hand. "Fame is a wind that blows this way and that," and one best left unchased, in my opinion.
David Sylvian made some songs that belong to the most beautiful music I ever encountered in "popular music". And these songs stand alone as a class of its own, being impossible to classify them into some preconceived category of music. This song is one of them. Most of these songs can be found on the splendid double CD "Everything and nothing". Thank you, David Sylvian!
This piece came out shortly before my best friend died at 29 years old. An Olympic silver medalist, it was infinitely unexpected. This song captured the 'almost forgotten' sound of my soul ripping itself from my body. Still as powerful 38 years later... Taini Kaiki.
Thank you! I had this track on an old cassette tape, & have tried to find it for ages… What a team they were - darkness & dawn, & forever loved! Saved! 🙏🏽❤️🔥🙏🏻
A man that changed my vision for life..1989 to now ! Never to be replaced...Thank you fore Existing...A purpose driven reason ! That changed my Heart !
Levi Tate There’s nothing wrong with nonsense Levi Tate. Our world runs on delusions and nonsense. It can be pleasurable to just relax and enjoy and enjoy the nonsense. Not always. But it can.
RIP Riyuichi... A multi-talented composer whose groundbreaking work will remind us of his genius. 💛🧡🧡🤍 The John Cage spoken samples in this song still... haunt me...
Brilliant Trees, Secrets of the Beehive are my favourite solo albums of David's, but this is more powerful than Forbidden colours to me, it's absolutely beauty and powerful with every emotion possible in one hit , I love it,always will , Ingrid btw was / is so underated as a solo artist , check out "This Trip is Mine", co written by yours truly above , thanks for this man
I appreciate their music dearly. Enjoy it while you can, for this is one of life's greatest pleasures. Music, passion, and collaborative creativity uninhibited by money. They (like Mark Hollis and Bowie) will be sorely missed when they are gone!
@@firmeza9 Mark was an amazing soul with a profound impact on modern music. I feel fortunate to have been able to enjoy it. Nice to know that others like you appreciate such great quality.
Love the look on David's face at 3.44 as he smiles and kisses his wife. I was going to marry him (as a 14 year old in 1982) but Ingrid got there first. Still the most beautiful man in the world.
@@escapecoral Once the make up is removed then Steve Jansen is definitely the better looking of the two brothers and the best looking band member in a classical sense but there's just something about Mick Karn.
I see the lines in the palm of its hand now I listen hard but no words spring to mind And it sounds so sweet, listen to its heartbeat And I'm drowning in its sea Falling at its feet Listen to my heartbeat baby And the blood sail leaves tonight Fated in its blindness And it won't be long before help is at hand And the darkness sleeps Cushioning the heartbeat And I killed the captain, sank the fleet To liberate the heartbeat baby And it sounds so sweet And it sounds so sweet Listen to our hearts beat And the darkness sleeps Cushioning the heartbeat And I'm drowning in its sea Falling at its feet Listen to my heartbeat baby It speaks to ghosts and souls alike Springs to life, and doesn't think twice Wrapped in the blood sail Bathed in snow Nailed to the source and it won't let go Fed on the bible, grown from trees It opened the mind and the heart was free A home in the silence, safe from sound Where trouble sleeps and the light is found
