Was about to complain about the thumbnail. Then I watched this small thing play something made for the PS5 at very playable frame rates and now think it’s very fitting. Too bad AyaNeo can’t make anything that lasts more than a month without breaking.

@@svenwort2055 yeah but it will have first party support from nintendo and will have hardware spesific optimizations so the actual performance could be comparable i reckon. man i just wish sony and microsoft would get in the handheld sector soon. imagine microsoft creating a handheld with it's windows-like OS just like xbox has, just so we format it and run steam os on it lmao.

NVIDIA hardware should hopefully be the magic bullet that puts it in the same league as these handheld PC's. Even a device which is only as powerful as the Steam Deck would be a monster with access to DLSS.

@@alfo2804 upscaling in general has progressed a lot in the last few years, and while the progress was mainly pushed by nvidia, i'm not comfortable with the idea nvidia dominating the handheld market too. besides, amd is much more experienced in APUs w/ high power efficiency which is what's needed for handheld. so yeah i'm rooting for team red here, they just need to up their ai game a bit.

@@whoogh not blaming anyone. Quite simple to understand, really. An exaggerated anecdote - It’s like buying a 4090 thinking it’s the latest and greatest, only to a few months be faced with a 4090ti. And a few months later, an even more powerful version of that, etc. As a person that likes to get said latest and greatest (ofc for a realistic period of time as it can’t stagnate forever), it’s easy to feel like getting the short changed even if that’s not really the case. Like you said, it’s a personal problem.

​@@Momo4060iNah, most gaming laptops even at this price range tend to have pretty mid screen quality besides high refresh rate. Also they're hella loud, heavy, and bulky. I get why like a college student would use one, but besides that these handhelds have a ton of room to eat into the laptop market for people wanting a simple, most unupgradeable unit that just works (not saying thats Ayaneo, but more established brands are now making devices)

.....you're missing the point. A laptop isn't a handheld gaming system nor is it nearly as portable. That's like saying, why buy a laptop when you can buy a smaller desktop with better specs for cheaper. See the point there? If you come to to conclusion that a laptop seems better, you aren't its targeted demographic & clearly don't understand why someone would rather need or want thus vs a laptop.

DLSS isn't good in lower resolutions. In fact, no upscaler in the market is worth using with 1080p and below. Native is already blurry enough.

​@@dmywololowolDLSS is good at lower resolutions when its upscaled to a still pretty low resolution though? Its when you try to upscale 480p to 1440p where you run into issues. Scaling 480p to 720p or 720p to 1080p would look fine in my experience

@@PantsaBear It doesn't. DLSS quality at 1080p, meaning that render res is about 640p and output is 1080p looks extremely soft and has a lot of artifacts. DLSS is only worth it at 1440p quality (960p render res) or up. Anything below that looks awful.

Going to have to disagree with you there. On these handhelds, the pixel density is high enough that the difference between a native image and an upscaled one is not massive.

@@onion_____Yes, but they do have a point about this. If the native pixel grid was 720p, it would be a sharper image than a 1080p screen scaling to 720. This is part of the charm of the Switch.

People forget that many people on PC are still playing backlog or older titles from the PS4 era or even earlier. This handheld is incredible for that, as is the Asus other than the sd card issue 😢

Because there's no 720p oled phone screens being made right now. I'm happy it's 1080p and not 1200p which that crap 16:10 ratio where a lot of games don't support it and give you black bars on top and bottom.
