toss a weighted line over a limb if you have only one point of suspension. and rig the hammock as a "sling chair". Lean back on a pile of brush, the daypack and the tree trunk. Put more brush under your feet and legs and be in the reclining position.. A BIG pile of debris will replace the sleeping pad and groundsheet, for you ground pounders, IF things are dry.

I used my regular insulated one (not the heavy indulated) a few months ago while camping. It was 40°f at the warmest part of the day and somewhere in the mid 20's at night. I wore it as a cloak for when i was moving around and curled up in it when i was sitting on the ground reading my book. At night i used it as a bivvy with my Nemo sleeping bag. I dont think i will ever go camping without it.

my concern is condensation. you could put it inside your down bag, and then it wouldn't build up condensation in your down, however then the bag isn't protected. using it over your bag, did it cause lots of condensation build up? the only way I could see avoiding this is if you used a vapor barrier liner inside your sleeping bag, and then the sarma cloak over your bag.

@charliemcdowell5231 I didn't notice any condensation at all, but I didn't have a down bag

i love the trifecta XL, but i "envelope" it in a couple of taped-together, heavy duty drum liners. with a hammock and ridgeline pulled thru it and another ridgeline holding the envelope away from the bivy, I can sleep ok at 40F in it, in just cammies.

@user-ci2mn1oy3w
@user-ci2mn1oy3w 3 месяца назад
@@RedBranchBushcraft I DO get condensation inside of the plastic "envelope", but the tyvek and hammock mean that the moisture never touches me or my clothing. I turn the envelope inside out in the morning and shake off most of the moisture, In an hour, it's all evaporated. I can be hiking as that happens,if need-be. I carry a small roll of tape, a couple of very small, soft plastic bottles. One has adhesive release in it, the other ha rubbing alcohol in it. These items let me adjust the kit. I can cut open the plastic bags if need-be, for use as a canopy, then reassemble them back into being bags again, etc. It's critical that there be no air leaks in my system, so I have to use a light and look for pinholes before turning in.

I've got the Helikon Tex Swagman roll and I find it to be brilliant if barely big enough for me. I'm 5'11" and 180# and I can zip it up but it's not roomy. I absolutely love it. Get a wider, stiffer belt for a buttpack, add a daypack. When it's time to sleep, empty the packs, fill them with debris (plastic bag the debris if it's damp) and use the packs as sleeping pads, normally up in the hammock. If there only one tree, make a tripod and guy it out to stakes, so it can hold up your feet end of the hammock. My spare socks are the shoulder pads for the daypack. My spare T shirt and boxers are the hip pads for the buttpack.

Hi! Is it the 67g or 100g version you have? On their store now, you can choose between the non insulated, the 67g and the 100g. The 67g have the M05 Woodland camo, and the 100g have the M05 Winter camo. Yours have the Winter camo, you say 67g but the rest of the specs you read are for the 100g.. :D I'm thinking of buying one, but can't decide which of the insulated to get, it depends on the packsize and warmth.

Now then Wooly, I wonder if you can help me out on a few things: so, I said a while back on one of your video comment sections that I'd get one of these when they came back into stock. They are now back in stock, and I'm kinda broke, haha! I'll still fork out for one perhaps, but at this point in proceedings I have to be sure it's the right thing to do (or, for a start, my other half will kick my arse). So here are my questions:- 1. Are the zips water proof ones? If not, how water resistant have you found them to be? I wanted to use this bungied between two trees, in a fully enclosed 'bag' configuration (minus two slightly open areas at either side of course, so I don't die), like a crisp packet on its side, lol, and with no tarp. This requires it to be water proof though, even if I position the zip facing downwards rather than up. 2. How's this for condensation? In the described fully enclosed configuration I imagine that it's possible for it to accumulate a LOT of internal moisture. How did you find it for that? 3. what temp did you get this down to combined with your summer bag? 4. Any other advice you may have! Cheers in advance dude! Very much looking forward to more videos showing what this piece of kit can do, as well as its limitations.
@RedBranchBushcraft
@RedBranchBushcraft 7 месяцев назад
Ok, so I'll have to check the zips tomorrow, but I wouldn't trust anything set up without a tarp of some description, I had no issues with condensation but I had it open at the top , I've never zipped any bivybag up completely as I always use a tarp
@NessNayii
@NessNayii 7 месяцев назад
@@RedBranchBushcraft thanks for the response Wooly, very much appreciated. Yeah, I'll have to think a little more about this one before committing - if using a tarp is going to be a necessary component, and the zips don't turn out to be waterproof, along with the configuration described perhaps not being practical condensation wise, I may wait and see what other videos you do reveal about it. Thanks again!
@RedBranchBushcraft
@RedBranchBushcraft 7 месяцев назад
@NessNayii for me a tarp is always necessary, are you trying to make some sort of waterproof cocoon for your hammock? Is there nothing out there already?
@NessNayii
@NessNayii 7 месяцев назад
@@RedBranchBushcraft it's not for a hammock setup. It's for a setup I saw on some military training video for use with the Jerven bag, and again on a video by Endurance Room. I'll try to describe it: It's a quickly deployed, all but fully enclosed shelter - like a bivi bag, but with two corners/edges suspended on either a ridge line - or even faster, between two bungies, with the zips facing up in good weather, down if bad. The bag ends up in an 'envelope on its edge' shape, with one edge of the envelope (in which you lay) on the floor, and the other suspended. It looks super easy, super efficient, and very protective against the elements (all assuming the zips are water proof), as well as less constrictive than a bivi configuration, in that it doesn't lay directly on top of you. I hope I managed to describe that adequately.
