The other thing is system requirements. Unfortunately I have an awful PC, but Garry's Sandbox has awful overhead in beginning: even in main menu it tries to keep all processing power and memory.
@@dangernoodle23101 I hope it'll get fixed. That's not cool when PC can produce stable 60 FPS in AAA shooter games like Crysis 2, Crysis 3, Doom 2016. I know these games are pretty old, but those look good enough and have polished gameplay, when S&box stutters on bare construct demake with nothing spawned (from personal experience). I mean that lack of proper optimization will make worse to everyone - these processing powers could go to the interesting gameplay mechanics, but they didn't.
@@diegsss take a look for asset (insert dot after word) party site. Them press the key icon. Unfortunately RU-vid moderation deleted my commentaries with links.
Would be great if there was a 1:1 translation from Terry and his clothing to Realistic Models. Like if you make a Terry with a hoodie, your realistic char will also have a realistic version of the hoodie. This way users will be able to make their default character (Terry) and then use that same avatar for realistic games, so you don't have to create a new avatar each game you play.
@@ss-xc4gh Coding wise? I don't think so, it'd just need to reference the same variables. But it would indeed require much more work making assets for two models.
@@TheAdrixzProductions I presume some assets are ready for humanoid avatar. Take a look for gloves as first person models (which aren't for four fingered Terry hands, but real human ones). Also some Terry clothes like hats and glasses just need different scale for humanoid.
Ok considering that i dont mind both versions of the models i just hope this pleases the people who really hated this game just because of the cartoony models
I actually think s&box to be neat. I just HATE the hotdog looking model. I never gotten into gmod despite owning it. So hopefully when S&box is out. I will play it a lot.
Actually i don't think people would hate a cartoony model, i think it's just that everyone hates Terry (and i do too, he looks so weird but i don't know why)
I dont like that the "phys gun" is just like a pistol, i liked that gmods toolgun and the gravity gun re-use kinda looked like some weird gadget that was put together to actually do what it does
Good decision by Facepunch... Terry/the thumb player models would have had such limited support in my honest opinion. Very hard to adapt clothes and stuff to the odd model.
It's a pretty common practice to photoscan real people in the process of creating high quality virtual characters for games and film, so there's a chance you actually have seen these people in person if photoscanning has been used here
FINALLY!! This is what me and other people have been wanting for a while. Having the freedom of choice in this case is really nice since people will differ in taste on this subject, please don't remove either option
After watching your videos all last year, I can't wait to watch them in 2023 up until I get a copy of Sbox. Keep up the good work on updating us and happy new year :)
im fine with not having huge options in terms of customization with these characters, it's basically like going back to gmod, the normal human characters had no skins, no different clothing options, they were just models, so glad we are getting an equivalent, I feel like a lot of time was spent laying foundations for s&box, now I want to see more parity betweeen gmod and s&box, they dont need to copy the work over, but I do think easing people into s&box and making this experience fun and not like a compromise is necessary for this game to launch off the ground.
I presume that some Terry items will be resized/rescaled to fit human models. Some things like googles and gloves, which already look pretty realistic.
They look amazing! i love how the clothes look kinda similar to the HL2 playermodels. The only thing i didn't like about s&box was the playermodels, and now they are gone! yipeeee
@@Ezdine_G8261 Cope with the new reality. Soon enough not a lot of people are going to remember an over 10 years old game that's based on an engine Half-Life 2 was built on. It was good for its time, but now it's outdated. S&box WILL be the future, whether you like it or not. I doubt Facepunch will support GMod for that much longer, outside of minor updates, unless they allow the more trusted and code-savvy community members to update the game by themselves, which is unlikely.
@@DansuB4nsu03 what do you mean the new reality majority of the people don't even know what s&box is, it's not at all widely open and nobody I've seen has ever seemed to like it much. gmod also has never stopped growing and even though it's based off the half life 2 engine, it's still one of the most popular games on steam. you'll need to realize s&box will not take off like gmod did.
@@Ezdine_G8261 I think s&box may become popular when it actually releases if the marketing is good. It will probably also be a positive for the Gmod community, as younger players will go for the newer option, giving the gmod player base some much-needed maturity.
That's cool. But personally from what I heard from most people it's not about looking better that makes a sequel better it's more about how it plays, what the community is like, and what can you do in it. It's nice that Garry is making a Source 2 version of Gmod but from what I seen it's probably just going to be something to make games on and making penises with rockets in it without really anything special. Gmod has that charm of being limitless creativity with a community of coders making addons from movies, games, and just general real life items. S&box I hope at elast has something nee and special with it then being Gmod but with better graphics.
I’m appalled to think my cousin would allow that thumb looking thing to be in this. Honestly tempted to contact him just to complain that it was a thing. Ffs Garry.
