In this episode of Foxing with Mark Ripley on S&C TV, Mark is out again on the tricky, vast, basin-shaped permission that makes long-range shooting a necessity! There is a pig farm on the top of the hill overlooking the basin, and right next door to it is a small bit of woodland that holds a lot of the areas foxes. The farmers have been noticing missing piglets, and have asked Mark to try and solve the problem... it's not easy, but he's not hailed as the best foxer in Britain for nothing!
Armed with the InfiRay TH50 thermal scope, which has a super-clear picture allowing him to close in on long-range foxes, he's on a mission to protect those piglets!

As always.....another fantastic fox hunting video. I really appreciate, that there are some hunters with so much passion, spending a lot of hours in the night to protect small game an other animals. Well done, Mark!

Getting stable on edge of ute tray was an achievement... you just can't choose where the foxes pop up! The tip about the tail going up I appreciate.... sometimes with runners it's hard to tell if you've missed them...or not... The longer range shot you made without a rear bag ...but...you achieved stable... These days I'm well focussed on getting stable...with the hope of avoiding misses on the limited opportunity that is foxing. Thanks for reminding what cartridge you used during video too. The long range (200 plus yards?) NV and thermal foxing is of most interest .. Thanks for putting in the effort to share. 👍

Mark love your video's , have you thought about using a vehicle with a cherry picker on the back, which you could drive like a land rover chassis , 4 wheel drive , where you could park up climb in the basket elevate up, enough for a better view and an improved shooting angle , safer. The operation of these mini vehicles is silent , you can get a van variation , like the council lighting fans have , good luck

Brilliant vlog. I know that millisecond where you see something "white" as you scan only to find it's a bloody badger! That reticle looks really good for those distance shot placement. Thermal is such a game changer especially if you have something thats run ... The hours I've spent doing "drills" up and down a field to find a fox where I was certain it was shot ....to go the next day and find it no where near ! Thermal just let's you scan and find in no time. Keep up the good work. Re "ridgeline" clothing ....you can't beat them for fit ...material choice and price although Deer Hunter are a close second in my opinion. Be safe 🙏🦉

On the second fox at 11.27, right after the shot something dashes away at the edge of the nearer field with the longer grass right in the shot line, but it doesn't show up white in the thermal what was it, did you see?

@pikemaster1972 Год назад
Hi mark just got 223 . What’s the effective range compared to a 2225O? Cheers again
@260rips
@260rips Год назад
To be honest the effective range for both rifles is more about what you can hit as both rifles carry a fair bit of knockdown if the bullet hits the right spot. Realistically both rifles are good out to 300 yards or more 👍
@chainsawdom1
@chainsawdom1 Год назад
How do the fox get to the pigs with electric fencing around them.
@260rips
@260rips Год назад
They can quite easily slip under the fences, I think they are designed more to keep the pigs in rather than the foxes out 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hello Mark. Again a top foxing video from you, i've been following you for a lot of years now and I am every time impressed with your shooting skils. I am also a foxer and see the number of hares rise since doin so. But I have a qustion for you, I always see you use youre phone as a torch, WHY ??? I always wear a headlamp and a small but powefull torch for searching, why don't you do so ? Love to hear from you and keep on making foxing video's and give us class about ballistics.

Did you miss the first Fox lad the fox u shown was very stiff looking lol every one can miss even the pro's
@260rips
@260rips Год назад
Indeed they can mate and yes I do! However not here! If you look closely you will notice the tail come up after the shot - a clear sign of a hit and by the way it threw itself in the hedge. It was stiff by the time I found it about an hour later after much searching and retracing my steps to pin point where it was - naturally an hour of me stooped over kicking about in long grass would not of made very entertaining footage! 👍

@markelliot1248
@markelliot1248 Год назад
Hi Mark, Living in the same area I know there is a long distance trail going right past that pig farm and to me it's the type of route that cyclists are going to use even at night using lights. Just wondering how you deal with that. Do you put up warning signs, just have to watch out for them or perhaps you don't really see anybody else about? Perhaps dealing with public rights of way is a subject that could be a video in its own right.
@260rips
@260rips Год назад
Can’t say I see anyone about much at night and the thermal is certainly a great tool for safety as well as spotting quarry 😉👍
