He just announced his next movie, "The Bookie & the Bruiser" a 1950s gangster piece with Vince Vaughn (shocker) and Adrien Brody as leads. Filming will take place 4q of 2024 so probably a 2025 release.
This guys has opened me up to some more low budget independent type films. His 3 films are better than anything hollywood has put out in the last decade. I pray he makes another movie.
@rhubarbgiraffe I've heard he is making plenty of scripts over the past few years and none ever seem to actually come to fruition. I hope you're right but I'll believe it when I see it.
The official word Zahler clarified is this won’t be his next film he directs but the fifth film he’ll director and has something he been working on but is unannounced he doing this year

It looks like his script Breaking the Empire State will be made with Gerard Butler. Maybe they just want the consept because there is a second writer on it now.
@@GutsTheGhost These are the last two interviews he did, in February of this year: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9etvUebIvOw.html&ab_channel=DanielFee33 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MpwyPDabFIU.html&ab_channel=wordballoon In the second link, almost at the end of the interview, Zahler makes it completely clear that if in the spring of this year he did not manage to make a film or TV series, he would start writing and drawing his third comic. We have no news of him starting a new television or film project, so it is assumed that he has taken up the comic. Basically, you have to know that if he's not making a movie or a TV show, he's writing a novel or making a comic.
if they can't get a huge A-list star to sign on, expect the script to fall through the cracks and gather dust.....15 actors passed on BASIC INSTINCT and Michael Douglas had to be bribed with 15M to do it.....
I believe he's gone on record saying that the Mean Business adaptation is officially dead, which frustrates me. Hug Chickenpenny now as well. I personally think that if any of his novels are going to be adapted, they need to be as a series, not as a film. They're just too dense, too rich. But fingers crossed we get BSG. It'd certainly feel like a trilogy along with Brawl and Dragged.

Hope this gets turned into a recurring feature of the channel. I actually stopped reading this script after I read there was a chance it was going into production, but there are a lot of other great scripts from him that seem unlikely to get made, like Silo, They Repair Us and Conflicts of the Last Progenitors
@@Garbageman28I wish, Silo is my favorite script of his. Barely needs any revision. Probably some potholes filled. I love his crime stuff but I need another horror movie like Bone Tomahawk.
