I saw the movie when it first came out and have a copy of it in my collection. I think both William Devane and Tommy Lee Jones were great in their roles and I also liked James Best in the role of a villain. I like the movie just the way it is.
Great video man. However Genesis told me at his house that Pink Floyd was the first industrial band. He saw them build a table onstage and drank tea off it. All mic work. I was surprised to hear him say that. He was a Syd Barrett fan. So there it is. From Gen himself. Pink Floyd 1st industrial band
He's such a smug, annoying, bitter contrarian. He might be intelligent, but he's incredibly conservative/close-minded and extremely condescending towards anyone he doesn't like. Best example is in an interview with hin where he calls Ebert's criticism "pea-brained" and tries to say he's not being insulting. And his idea that "you can't just say you love film to be a film critic" is exactly why people would prefer to read/listen to other critics like Ebert, who actually show a passion and love for what they are reviewing. If all you do in your criticism is criticise whether your example succeeded in the fields of a, b and c, then you're not a critic: you're an analyst. I'd rather watch/read something written by someone who talks about the message and uniqueness of something with passion then an old-fashioned elitist who spends the entire time simply analysing what's wrong and trying to big up your ego by referencing old, obscure films that most people wouldn't have heard of him. And in that same interview, he states at the end that you shouldn't be criticising anything when you're young because you don't have the experience, which is incredibly old-headed and the same reasoning shitty bosses use to not hire newly graduated people for their work. Not only that, but he states that you should only view films under a Judeao-Christian viewpoint as that's where films started off as in the West, which is disgustingly regressive. "Do they have any spiritual, moral or religious awareness?" So fucking right-wing and conservative. No wonder he got kicked out of the Film Critic Society.
Detested the father as much as the bank robbers after her death. What a jackass and what shitty excuse of husband not understanding the separation anxiety of her... which is a massive sign of postpartum. Bud find a job that pays more! But no, instead you callously sent her to her death... I wanted to see his reaction after finding out about his wifes death so badly. Ugh. The film did a great job with tension and just building everything up.
🎥 I just watched this absolute masterpiece ~ 2x in a row ~ What a deep yet subtle way this movie displays how the mind slowly takes over the man’s everyday old tasks while also changing his routines by wearing this mask- it is a mental fight of who he was to who he is becoming or who he has always truly been inside his soul the whole time ~ it leads him to a life of loneliness within himself while being married and surrounded by others - The side story with the brother & sister was a sad one~ her being deprived of love was deep-to allow herself to disconnect with her morals to have human touch was emotionally heavy~ Great film 🎞️ … if I can add… in a way, I almost somewhat can connect this with people today - living secluded in a room behind a lit screen-using multimedias to hide behind filters, emojis & avatars- that is their mask ~ thank you for sharing your view 🙏🏽
Many people who were 'there' during the early years of experimental/industrial are now grandpa/ma, lmfao..... went i went to gigs early 80s a lot of people there were easily 20 years older than myself.
I love the scene at 8:20. He knows he is about to exhaust his use. He has listened to the masked criminals digging on his race for days now. He just doesn’t know how it will end so he drags it out as long as he can.
TG was never my favorite, though I respected them. There were three that comprised perhaps half of my listening at the time: Skinny Puppy, Einsturzende Neubauten, and then Coil. Of course there were many, many others.
Hamburger Lady is great in all its versions. Almost 50 years later and still, or even more, ahead of the times. Nice to see some honours where honour is due.
I think you summed it up perfectly. For me Season 2 was like watching an unmedicated adhd dude tell a story. You literally have to watch it more than once to get it. Just way way too much going on all at once
well, we don't think 'conned' is necessarily the right word - the director of Death Kiss and Bronzi capitalized on the mirror likeness to Charles Bronson - honestly, Thats Show Business. LOVELOVELOVE this vid tho, Very Informative.
I really believe that you're what makes lefties look bad. None of us besides you chose to make a youtube page and say we wanted to stab are self's from faced with using right handed scissors. Maybe you need to find mental help dude
I really like both Psychic TV and Throbbing Gristle musically, and in interviews P-Orridge always seemed like a very sweet and charming person. But all the anti-Catholic, borderline/sometimes explicitly Satanic and occult stuff makes me really uncomfortable. I guess that's by design, but ehhh, I dunno. Anyone who is that anti-Jesus makes me go "what is your agenda really?"
As to Gen- all i can say is that you Never Really Know Someone - until you meet them - do you . Gen's life review would have told him a lot more than i could say -so lets leave it at that -
Every time I watch this scene I have to remind myself to breathe within those 42 seconds of silence. You yourself remember all the bad Vic did, and you can feel the tension. The first time seeing it I was getting anxiety because of the look on his face.
If you’re the worst at anything, you’re immediately far from the worst. Nobody is writing about decent reviewers. I immediately like him… and I have not read any of his reviews.
Mate, you have the voice and smart discourse of a smart sixty year old. Please use a double so I can focus on your review. Using a different double in each review would be even better.
Absolutely perfect review. I have not heard anyone with brains in RU-vid in a while. This is going to be a movie weekend thanks to flat Eric. Thank you very much sir.
