yo amazing vid just wanted to say that those blue shells aint buckshot thats slugs so its showing that there are ammo variations and they took the time to model them. amazing vid love your content!
@@George_droyd Slug shells are NOT all blue. Is there any other reason you'd think that's a slug in the video? Shotgun shells are NOT consistently color coded by load outside of specific brands. I've shot black slugs and yellow slugs and green slugs, etc. The U.S. military uses olive-drab buckshot and dark-brown breaching slugs. Back in the day shells were either coded by gauge-- red for 12ga, yellow for 20ga-- or the specific brand was all just one color. Remington had green shells and Winchesters were red. The slug shells in all the other S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are also red.
I would also add that in the games, the 12ga ammo is 12x70mm ammo, which would be called 12ga "2 3/4 inch" ammo in America. Neither style of shell is actually 70mm or 2.75in long until FIRED, whereas the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan-made wiki implies that the unfired shells are 70mm in length. Shotgun shells are the only kind of munitions that get LONGER when spent, which I think is really interesting! Hope this helps
not only am i hella excited to explore the zone in Stalker 2, i cant wait to see what modders come up with. also i really like the somewhat simplistic UI
Simplistic UI is kinda mid since it's in every single game we see. I like how the old UI was very stylistically apocalyptic, worn, crusty, and scuffed, almost reminiscent of the first two Fallout games stylistically. I'm sure most game devs think that style is mostly outdated by now though which is why they resort to Skyrim UI part X like most games do these days.
@@queuedjar4578I intentionally never really mod my ui in anomaly since it looks so crusty in a nice way. Though I play almost hudless, only status indicator and danger indicator. Fuck this minimal shit.
My gut says Skiff was some kind of mercenary. Experienced enough to be a terror against human enemies, but unfamiliar with the specific threats of the zone. It may also explain the "job" that got him stuck here in the first place.
I'm very happy to hear the experience is like OG Stalker cus that was like a Half Life 1 & 2 experience for me. I wouldn't want the influence of Anomaly, Gamma etc. to take over what Stalker really was like before the amazing mods.
One of the unknown items in the inventory is a can of condensed milk. I know for sure because the design resembles a real-life brand popular in slavic counties. The logo depicts the happy boys face with a spoon of condensed milk :) It may even be that the design is 1 to 1 (sponsored), but not sure. The other item - maybe beer.
As someone who has been a fan of the series since the original I really appreciate your in depth coverage of this upcoming sequel keep up the good work!
Yeah I also think Skiff might be some sort of contract mercenary, but not used to The Zone. Says he was on a "job" and got stuck there. How many jobs can a person have with the kind of weapon skills that Skiff has? Also, I love his nickname, "Skiff", it means a small rowboat, usually for one person. Skiffs are used to cross small bodies of water, like a river, or between bigger boats, pretty much like we are a passenger with Skiff as he crosses the threshold into The Zone. He's our vhicle.
I think I've read online that GSC treats SOC as the main game and CS and COP as DLCs for the main game, so that's why the new game is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
The "I have got nowhere to return to" line, in my opinion, can also mean that the character did something that got him cast out from the stalker community. Maybe that murder that was discussed in one of the previous trailers with the stranger on the roof.
Maybe, but I sort of feel like its just a nod to being a stalker. I mean isn't that kind of the whole depressing idea with stalkers? Being shut off, not having anywhere to go, and constantly almost dying or dying?
@@y0h0p38Sure, could be. But I have always gotten a sense of community and sort of brotherhood from some stalker factions. Like if you betray the loners you get a bounty placed on you and you have to run and hide.
Fantastic video, great analysis. I haven't had a chance to play the demo myself, but the descriptions really make me excited - something on par with the trilogy is all I want. 22:25 - the description of the silencer from the original games mentions that they are "assembled by some of the Zone's craftsmen". Maybe the devs took this detail into account, and we will see actual handmade attachments. Also, interesting theory about the title. Who knows, maybe it will be the case. However, it's worth noting that Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat didn't have numbers in their titles simply because GSC didn't really treat them as full-fledged installments - they were created with the intention of being something like 'addons' to the original game. In a way, Heart of Chornobyl is the first proper new entry in the series, hence it's called S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
Absolutely incredible video, Anomalous. Spectacular attention to detail, you painted a very rich picture of what we have to look forward to. As someone too broke to afford a new PC to play it, I'm living for this shit. I can't wait to see what kind of content we're going to see from Anomalous Dugout next, yet alone after release.
While it’s great to play it on a pc especially with mods if the console version is good a series s isn’t as expensive as a pc but I still hope you can afford a good pc until it comes out
GSC! Please give this fan some dialogue in the game. Couple lines, some Easter egg character in the game in a dugout surrounded by anomalies who has a unique item perhaps. Well done AD!
I don’t know about y’all but even though I can’t speak Russian or Ukrainian or anything like that, I’m still gonna use that voice acting and just have English subtitles.
I’m actively helping with a Russian language dub mod. I’m ticked it won’t have Russian by default. Move even more nonsensical given the lead story writer and the lead designer are both native, Russian speakers and part of the country to make the game in his Russian speaking, and the part of the country is that creepy. I didn’t is also Russian speaking, and Russian is the local interlingua. I have yet to actually find a native monolingual Ukrainian speaker; The person I’m learning it from is originally a Russian speaker and teaching it using Russian.
*What I'm more excited about in this new chapter is if we will meet with old familiar faces from the OG trilogy and see the new redesign of the Zone and of course the main history who looks intrigued as hell .*
I'am happy to see there will be a encyclopeia in the game/pda :) I love it when there is more lore about from things where i find^^ Great work friend, thanks for sharing these information!
Thinking about it, it makes sense to have Skif be an experienced fighter yet rookie to the Zone. Many of the people playing Stalker 2 will be experienced at shooter games, but wont have played a Stalker game before.
great video! thanks for giving such a detailed description of the demo and your experience. btw, the can at 41:10 is a condenced milk. you can google "згущене молоко" and see the same can like in the game. can't indentify the bottle tho, probably a made up beer, like "cossacks vodka"
I hope they take most the old maps, and just add onto it. Fill in the gaps and expand. Good to hear the vibe is true to the OG games, that is the most important thing for me!
so happy to hear that many aspects of stalker 2 were kept the same! Like the click to play thing when the game is done loading, or how poltergeists throw useful stuff at you. All this despite a from scratch brand new engine! Cannot wait
Great video as always, brotherman. Some things: At 21:40 - The box looks like the safes from the original games At 40:40 - That's a mistake from GSC. The currency is coupons and the logo is still the same one from Come to Me.
Another mind-blowingly detailed analysis. You never cease to amaze. The wait for this video has been worth it. It's interesting that you have a very favorable impression of the demo and trailer overall, contrary to many who talked very critically about it after gamescom. I wonder if this is because the new version of the demo has actually improved a lot, you simply happened to encounter less/no bugs by coincidence, or you simply have a more positive outlook on / different expectations of the game. In any case, I regard you as an authority in the realm of STALKER, so your verdict makes me very confident about the release. Now, I only hope GSC implements varied difficulty options so we can tune the game experience to our preferences. I'd love to be able to crank resource scarcity all the way up without having to wait for mods to do it.
41:05 Unknown food can is a condensed milk. It is very common sticker design on it(in USSR and post-soviet countries). For bottle I would assume it is either lemonade(or other fruit soda) or beer.
I feel like the door that GSC use as their symbol at the beginning is straight up the door from Stalker movie, where character was very much afraid to open said door. And it looked kinda the same way.
There was ARG event. We was helping some guy with quests. In the end he tells us, that if we want to join his group we need to watch some video. That video was similar to brainwashing video from Clear Sky ending
I can say with certainty that the can at 41:10 is condensed milk, looks exactly like the design we have here in ukraine. The bottle might be kvass or beer, dunno tbh
Very glad to hear that the sequel has the same atmospheric vibe as the trilogy, people were doubting that. And to hear it from a Stalker Scholar such as yourself is reassuring :) Thank you for another great analysis and feedback from the demo - I'd pay to play it now :)
Thanks for the interesting video, I learned a few new details for myself. Let me explain about the name. Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat are additional parts to Shadow of Chernobyl, so they are usually not numbered. Stalker 2 is positioned as a continuation of Shadow of Chernobyl. The dots in the word S.T.A.L.K.E.R. were used due to problems with copyright or brand registration (I don’t remember exactly). Most likely, the dots were left for a holistic perception of the names. Considering that, according to canon, Awareness was destroyed by Strelok and we even see a zombie installation in one of the trailers, there was no one and nothing to “zombify” Skif. The moment with the passage of the Skif pipe most likely occurs at the Cordon location, if we rely on materials from C2 2012. GSK presented Skif as an experienced stalker, but something really doesn’t add up
How was the human AND mutant AI? Were they smart ? Anything from Alife seen? and did weapons seem to have ballistics to them like in Clear Sky/CoP or better?
Honestly I don't care that much about the graphics as long as it looks good. It is possible there was a very slight downgrade but it's nowhere near as big as people make it to be.
i need more bolts, i need more bolts, bigger artifacts, thanks for the quest rewards sir, let's go to the center of the zone buddy, let's go to the center of the zone
And Flesh is now more... fleshy... now it actually looks like it want to devour you, instead of frolicking shyly up to you, to kick and bite you in the nutsack...
That is great to hear! Thank you for answering everyone's questions they have about the demo. I really liked the video, it was very informative! I was really worried that the new GSC team would not understand what made the previous games so captivating for players, but thanks to your video it seems that may not be the case. I now have full confidence that this team knows what they are doing and can possibly deliver the best entry in the series yet!
The demo takes place earlier in the zone timeline, before skiff is indoctrinated into monolith. The rest of the game takes place after the assault on cnpp after he gets his free will back. Quote me.
40:48 > Coupons Well, you are not entirely wrong, but you are off by about 25 years 😅. That symbol is current Ukraine's currency of hryvnia, while "coupons" were in use in 1992-1996 41:08 Unidentified food can is a can of condensed milk, a popular sweet in post-soviet countries
I just had a cool idea today while playing gamma imagine the devs change the chimera to be sort of like the bear from annihilation (the movie)? for you that watched it you'll know what i mean but for the rest basically giving it the ability to mimic sounds, including human screams and maybe even normal talking a step futher would be to make it into lore that chimeras while the apex predator of the zone arent that justb ecause of how strong they are but also because they posses human like intelligence meaning those mofo's know how to think strategically, when to engage and when to avoid they know that you havea weapon in your hands when you have one and they know that you might have tough armor when wearing an exosuit stuff like that
All i hope for is that STALKER 2 is as features and gameplay rich as Stalker Anomaly GAMMA mod pack. The Anomaly and the GAMMA pack has truly revitalized the Stalker games, in the best possible manner. And it's free! The GAMMA mod pack is the peak of all fps games I've ever played, which is saying a lot, as I've been playing these games from my early teens with the original DOOM in mid 90s. Nothing simply compares to the amazing gunplay, beautiful graphics, gameplay and survival mechanics in the GAMMA pack, and I truly hope STALKER 2 will have most of those features available at launch. If not, I hope they at least release the full SDK for modders very early, so the amazing mod community can get to work right away and create great mods for the game for us to enjoy it in our own ways.
it wont be similar to gamma at all most likely. which is a good and a bad thing. i quite enjoy some of the overly complicated systems of gamma but on the other hand i think the grinding is a bit much.
stalker 2 is basically what oblivion lost was supposed to be, but just modernized of course, it will have nothing to do with anomaly but gameplay features will most likely be inspired my modern fps games, such as the consumables animations
22:43 most probably thats reflection maps changing as player moves through level. That type of visual bug (not really a bug, just how it works) is present in all games if you pay attention. Only raytraced reflections will not have this issue.
This is so exciting! I hope the devs keep all the classic stuff from the original games like artefacts, mutants, factions, anomalies and ect. and to add triple the amount of content. Also would be cool if the hardest play through is playing as a zombified who have to rely entirely on disguise and have to complete all the factions quests with 1 ironman life + completing all the achievements from your rugged smartphone(futuristic PDA) + collecting 5 of each types of artefacts in the zone. Another idea is to play as Sin(Грех) faction and to have quest where you have to join group of controllers that will help you to get to a missing part of the broken monolith kristal that will be necessary for a Sin ritual that will connect Sins with the Noosphere and change it. And that to be one of the craziest quest in the zone cuz joining the crazy controllers side for a while always comes with the negative side effects for your mind. And if the devs are reading this I hope that if you decide to use any of my ideas please add a ester egg with my small logo or smile! ;} I also hope this damn war ends soon so we can start a new life in the zone with the top tier S.T.A.L.K.Y. 2 experience! ☢️
41:06 the canned one is the Condensed Milk, that looks like the one from Pervomaisk Canned Dairy. The unknown bottle looks like a beer, but I am not so sure for this one.
22:27 i'm assuming not many people outside of the gun nerd community know this but that's actually what a mk23 suppressor looks like it's not makeshift
Hi! Did you pay attention to the specifications of the PCs on which they made you try the demo? Did you find a graphics engine/game particularly difficult to run?
I don't know how I feel about the American accents. I can't tell if that's how the characters will actually sound or if it's just an English version of the game. Regardless, I'll probably just play with Ukrainian/Russian dialogue and English subtitles. Not being able to understand what random stalkers say is a part of the games that I enjoy.
