Please, despite the game looking good and interesting, don't forget what made the past stalker good. It's not all playstation cinematics, it's about the Zone. The vibe. The freedom.
The gameplay demo features the same classic gameplay we're all used to. The only thing to change is the cutscenes & interactions with npcs, which have been a staple in the series since Shadow of Chernobyl. @@plaguepandemic5651
according to the folks that played the demo, it still got the vibe. however i personally will be waiting for the community reaction after launch before buying. i saw the hype and shitshow that was fallout 76, and thus don't preorder anything for any reason. hopefully GSC wont disappoint.
What made previous stalkers good was the atmosphere, ambient sounds, weather. Freedom to choose what you were going to do next. Waiting out a storm, idling in camp. Restocking and managing your gear. Don't make it a tunnel. There's the Metro -series for that.
Exactly. All the few cutscenes were brief in the old games, straight to the point. I don't like to be forced to watch short movies and be dragged out from the gameplay every time developers struggle to express story-telling by game actions, as it often happens in modern games. Half-life series were often praised for cut-scenes minimum.
Strider, a monolith from the first crusade to the centre of the zone. One of the first to fall for the c-con. Resurrected into a new person with the destruction of c-cpn by Strelok. He directed an escape with fellow monolith renegades. Aided by degtiarev, routing again to the centre, this time, not by fanatism but in search for answers. Glad to see him return. Anxious as to what we will be seeing.
Watching this you dead serious realize that Mooze's soundtrack was the biggest part of what made stalker so captivating and horrifying at the same time
i hope there is a ost with russian/ukranian voices with subtitles. i feel the language (voiceovers) is very important aspect of Stalker series. just an opinion of a fanatic fan of stalker. Yet still not convinced this one is on th right track (like focusing on cinematics more than on the content...),but still counting on the modding community that made the series shine beyond any expectation.
The voiceovers will be in other languages but I'm more saddened by the fact that they threw away the slavic accent for the english dub. It made it more immersive, now for me personally it feels like the Zone was infiltrated and inhabited by Americans...
I hope this still captures the mood of the zone like in old stalker, there's this kick where atmosphere and the people you meet and the things you encounter while being in the zone brings mixed emotions, but the end of the day chilling with the homies in campfire is just really good.
What most important things they need to nail is the atmosphere, the zone itself and how NPC interact with each other. All those things are what made people came back time and time again over the years despite the game barely works most of the time.
Skif being an ex-monolithian is a game changer. Inclusion of a laboratory from the trailer too. This gives a hint that the story will be tightly knit with the Zone, it's functioning and it's future together with the monolith group. I believe that "noosphere" is not something that can be reached from anywhere on Earth, I still want to believe that the Monolith is a real thing and not some C-con's trick or great distraction from the Generators and the labs. The Monolith could be a physical thing that messes up the "gravity" for "noosphere" that makes it go wild. And this twist truly allows the monolith group to become even more righteous and fundamentally important in the lore, they'd become the guardians of the Wish Granter for the sake of all humanity. Still, cannot think of a solution for the Zone existence, one russian stalker book series vividly mentions of a path of a "great fight" in some parallel realities so the Zone stops expanding.
Skif is not an ex monolithian i think he is with the corporation that we see in the trailer . Maybe this scene is from one of the various " path" you can choose . And take note that strider said "when the psy field was turned off" , the psy field is the antennas from SoC . Maybe they were free before the c-con destuction but still some choose to defend the cnpp. Not sure why he kept his monolith suit because we saw him in the "come to me" trailer and he was wearing a duty like suit . Maybe its just for combat .
He's not ex-monolith, he IS monolith. The lie has found a grain of truth - the noosphere made it real, that's what Doctor talked about in previous trailer - which was itself quoting Tarkovsky's Stalker, which this game seems to be leaning into way heavier. I think the blind monolithian has a genuine fragment of the wish granter - even though it wasnt real
@@antonyapostolov8252 maybe part of the sirca. Its an international group that want to take control and use the power of the zone. Unisg is maybe the old name of sirca. But skif is working with herman maybe he is just a mercenary hire by scientist
@@main_user Well ofc they are gonna push pack the release date. One of the Devs died in the War, as well as, you know..... Putin's Small Ego invading Ukraine? Thats gonna take a while to still make a Game.
I love how people completely forget how much reading there was in the stalker games. It’s obvious we can’t do the text-screen exposition dump - so OF COURSE cutscenes were where it’d go! Stalker is a story game, even if it about shaping your own path in the world and your survival, ultimately the games were there to tell a story, not be a survival experience. Too many people think of the modding scene imo, and yes while they capture the core GAMEPLAY elements, unless they’re specifically trying to emulate the story, often fall short or don’t even bother to change any story elements. Please don’t look at this trailer and think the direction has changed. Remember, METRO is essentially this game - but that doesn’t make it Metro 2.0. I’m ready for STALKER to reclaim the throne of survival-shooters.
One of the anniversary updates also showcased a slew of weapons in the same sort-of 'blown up' view. Makes me wonder if that will be an important part of the upgrade/workshop mechanics. Like, we'll see the gun in pieces and be able to select/modify parts that way.
Strider is a very good character to put in the game I remember when I was doing the strider mission in COP I fought it would be so cool if we could have him in another game. He's character has so much potential
@@drumnbassdan Because it's a niche genre and the original games aren't for everyone. So in pursuing a more wider audience, the devs might forget what made the previous games good. Stalker is as much an RPG as an FPS. Horror, survival, action. Freedom to choose your next moves without necessarily being funneled into a heavily sripted experience. Living world. Inventory and item management. Chilling next to a campfire and taking in the sounds as a storm passes. They really need to nail the vibe of it all.
Oh how much do I want this game. I highly doubt it will actually come out in Q1 2024 - release dates usually have to be locked down months in advance - but I can wait. Just so long as it's ready when they release it I'll be happy.
Its been said by GSC CEO that the game is in its final production step and SHOULD be coming out in the Q1 2024 and the main story line SHOULD be around 40h long and the whole game SHOULD take around 100h to complete. Notice how i capslocked SHOULD because its GSC we are talking about.
@@DuaLL1337 Absolutely. I always take release dates as estimates regardless of the studio. Been bitten too many times before to treat release dates as a sure thing.
Im so f .... Hyped for this Game ! Hope they get Stalker back on the Map. Nothing comes even close to stalkers threadning atmosphere and setting. Dam i Love this Franchise! ❤
@@binaryAstronautThis is leaning heavily on the themes of the Tarkovsky film while the original trilogy only payed it lipservice. What Doctor says in the other trailer is almost a direct quote of The Stalker.
Seems its more like metro. Heavy story... so not much freedom. Metro bored me to tears. I put in 500+ hours in Gamma and then got metro on special and was bored after the first two or three hours. Just talking and walking and railed combat with press "e" for emersion. Its terrible 😂😂
@@snaphaan5049 I get that and I felt the same at 1st with Metro but ended up loving the series. Sure it's not S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with it's open world but I think it embodied it in the feels.
"i took one award step and it turn my whole world plunged into darkness" me trying to get a artifact but stepped into a anomaly and get blown into a thousands bits
@@kpakozebro2258 But it is made on the game engine and UE5 can easily handle this kind of animation, so real gameplay will have the same face animations for sure.
@@kpakozebro2258 Except they've done a private demo and it showcased that these faces are IN THE GAME. These are INGAME cutscenes, using INGAME models. Those npcs aren't pre-rendered. It's part of the new unreal engine.
I wouldn't worry, when they take this much time to release something, it tends to not disappoint, it's when they crunch hard that the games fall short. This looks like it had a lot of love put into it.
I hope you're right, I now have trust issues with game launches after 2023, from games like the sons of the forest, company of heroes 3, redfall and starfield. All games I was excited for and turned out to be bad terrible or mid games.
It looks good, but I didn’t really see Stalker here, there wasn’t any exploration , nor was there the feel of the zone, this looked like an action mission from cod which seems out of place for a game like that?
There's a lot of stalker in the original trailers though looting a bandit camp, exploring a lab filled with monsters, sitting at a fire with other stalkers, artefact hunting. This trailer looks to just be an excuse to show main story elements as well as their new cutscenes@@jj-nl3co
I wonder how they will deal with the Mercenaries faction if every slavic character already has American and British accents? Did they say if the Ukrainian dub is the original dub? If so then I must play in that language first
That's what I said! The game is ruined, like Ukraine being used as a proxy against Russia the game too has been "amaerican-ized" and made in a attempt to captivate American players to make sure the money flows in
Not gonna lie, as much as I love and respect the guys making the game, the things they're showing us recently lean toward 'CoD Black Ops' style. And despite what they say, I wonder how moddable thing game's gonna be.
I hope the Unreal Injector mod brings this game to virtual reality. Stalker is already absolutely outstanding normally, but I probably won't be coming back from the zone in VR 😉👍.
Hope it will be atmospheric game with languages from first games. I'm very afraid what it can be good picture but without "heart", without atmosphere, without charm, which were in SoC, for example. Cross fingers for good game. 🤞
It is, that's Operation Monolith with the Military attacking the NPP following Strelok de-activating the Brain Scorcher (the same Kaymanov Emitter that was creating the psi field Strider mentions)
@@SideQuestStories I said MORE Foreign these dudes are in eastern Europe sounding like Americans...would have been more immersive if they had at least a fitting accent talking in English for more flavor for the dialogue. I'm American myself btw don't really feel as invested in media that does this...the game takes place in a specific region or continent then it should reflect that in atmosphere and speech.
Thank God the English localization doesn't sound like horrible forced Eastern European stereotypical accent like in Metro, but actually sounds American/British. I really hate when I hear forced Eastern European accents. If you want it to sound more immersive, just play it in Ukrainian with subtitles, that is what I'll do.
@@ivanmonahhov2314 Remember Vietnam? Nobody does. Because it's ancient news. It's 2024, buddy. You don't think they've learned anything new since they released the OG trilogy?
Looks amazing, I can only hope they have a solid understanding of why we love the stalker series and we don't just get a metro clone. Stalker games should be slow, expansive, and completely unforgiving.
Everyone seems to be so sure they’re the ones that know what made the previous stalker games good. How about we leave it to the people who actually made them, huh? Have a little faith.
@@corectopia Мне стоит тебе напомнить что вы почти всегда разговаривали на этом "свiнособачэм" и никто не жаловался?) Напоминаю, на Украине "нет" нацистов)
Oh boy get ready to be disappointed. It's called Zhdalker 2 (waiting derivative) in CIS, and the development progress doesn't look good so far - a lot of delays, bad demos, youtube strikes for almost nothing
@mikhail.osckin I quite liked how the demo looked. Not sure why you calling it bad. Most important of all is the AI done right and the faction wars. Everything else Modders can fix
@@nizemee729 Oh there are just a lot of worrying news about the state of the development and the game itself - that's why it had been delayed a few times. And that's that - just trailer, not even a demo, the game itself might be in a quite dire state and quite likely have a lot of problems on its release. And it will be hardly a surprise giving the overall state of the game industry these days
@mikhail.osckin it'll be alright mate. If the game isn't ready for release in Q1 they will just delay it again. I doubt we'll have another Cyberpunk 2077
