I find it really hard to believe that government doesent know about what c-con, zone experiments and monolith. After all its hard to believe that army would not be able to crush monolith and capture cnpp if they really wanted to.
@lambda30 corrupt and badly prepared for everything the Zone throws at them. Operation Fairway and the assault on the cnpp were probably done with all the resources they had at hand so those couldn´t fail, but the lack of preparation on the military´s hand once again showed that they can´t
3 Months late but! It seems the experiments and research started by the USSR while by the time the Zone is formed, its the Ukranian goverment that needs to deal with it. I find it absolutely believable that the USSR did not inform the Ukranian leadership about it and so as these things are uncovered, the Ukranian forces are just as baffled as the stalkers are and try to rush in to capture things and find out more. I mean, most laboratories and experimentation sites were built in complete secrecy with not even the locals of the area realizing whats going on under their feet.
The zone is a horrorshow. Anomalies mutants and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S are all a massive threat. A solder / conscript is unmotivated to risk his life in the zone, a STALKER does so wilingly. Add corruption (most solders have gear unsuited to the zone ), , and evershifting anomalies and psy fields which render most heavy vehicles and equipement useless most of the time. As well as the fact that most factions are constantly in conflict with the military and you get a disaster. Also military commanders either have no idea on how the zone works or get zone experience and die in it. Also the brainwashed stalkers (such as Strelok in most of SOC) probably infiltrate and sabotage the Military.
@@anomalousdugout9557 you've seen the trailer for stalker 2, right? i think that skif might have killed strelok. at least that conversation with the guy on the rooftop seems to suggest so. then again ... skif might be a double agent employed by strelok as well, who tricks others into thinking he is dead.
3:30 Actually we do know. There was a mobile game developed with GSC blessing, which depicted firs Strelok steps as stalker. Before that he was a soldier. His helicopter got downed near Cordon IIRC, and he was lone survivor. He taken stalker's job to survive, but eventually came in contact with scientists. Head scientist (forgot the name) betrayed him, and he was ambushed by Mercs, but got saved by Ghost, after which two decided to work together.
In anomaly they give a similar story when talking to strelock he says he was a grunt and he got tired of the lack of freedom and pay so he wonder into the zone one day
there's a tendency to kill off old returning characters in many types of media. Which is why I'm worried they'd do that here too in Stalker 2, I'll fckng lose my shite
I saw a video about the leaked script for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 In that script it seems Strelok was "brainwashed" by the C-Consciousness to believe he destroyed them (the plot of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 would have you destroy it once and for all.) It is implied he joined the C-Consciousness, but in order to stop other Stalkers from trying to venture into the center of the Zone they covered this up by making a copy of Strelok who would spread the fact that he destroyed the C-Consciousness. This retcon is kinda weird in my opinion but then again it's GSC's decision if they make the old script canon. This new canon also messes with the CoP ending, why would he tell the government all about what he saw if he was an agent for the C-Consciousness?
I heard about that as well, but since that version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 never came out it's nothing cannon. Maybe this idea will be reused in the upcoming game who knows ?
@@anomalousdugout9557 Honestly I think it would be a far more interesting story if they went with the original idea instead of this stupid twist. The C-consciousness was desperately trying to contain the zone, but strelok kills them and is haunted by his decision, and as such the zone is getting more and more unstable with the absence of its restraints, the C-Consciousness. I think having the struggle against the very break in the Novosphere itself is a lot more interesting than "oh yes the group of old dudes is actually still alive and have always been 100% the bad guys and if you kill them for realises this time everything will be fine".
@@Rajoovi1 Yes, I do agree with that, I too think the plot needs to move on from the C-Consciousness. There is however one thing bothering me, which is the idea that the Zone is growing and getting unstable after Shadow of Chernobyl. On one hand we have some information that confirms the fact that the Zone is changing (the increased frequence of emissions for example), but on the other hand it is unclear if the Zone actually grows or not. I'm pretty sure some characters claim that it does not, although it could have been Freedom propaganda. Maybe that could be a subject of investigation for a future video...
The game is quite hard at first. The pistol is freaken useless at the start, never hits and does shit all damage. Game gets a lot better when you get some proper weapons
@@MrTripleXXX yeah for me the early game of STALKER games are their weakest time which is a shame since it can put off a lot of people but end game is good action and has good end for the story while mid game is almost always the most fun mostly because you aren't too OP with super strong gear but have good enough accurate weapons and stuff to make combat fun while having something to work towards like a new weapon or a new armor and not just the end of the game
I never liked the ending of CoP. That last mission, desperate assault through Outskirts to the LZ... i always felt it should ended totally different. Look it up: Degtaryev should have said, that assault is just plain idiotic, and suggested to use his new connections instead. We should get a mission to bring to the Laundromat spare sets of suits for soldiers, and disguise them as stalkers. Than, with help of all new friends and both guides/pathfinders from Zaton and Janov, we would smuggeled the whole party to the Cordon border. Than and there, at the border checkpoint, the last choice, to leave the Zone with Strelok and soldiers, or to stay inside with new buddies, unfinished buissneses and whole North ahead, would be so much more impactful and symbolic. And it all would've ended like it started: quiet, covert... not by firepower, but by connections, knowleage and cleverness.
when i first started playing SoC, i had a sneaking suspicion that we were playing as strelok. but what i wanted to know more is why did we have a job that tells us to kill strelok, and why were we in that truck of corpse
i believe his name was actually going to be spelled Strelak instead of Strelok, due to his Tattoo saying S.T.A.L.K.E.R which can be re-arranged to Strelak, which was originally going ot be a clue to finding him and thus unlocking the center of the zone. there was a whole other script to the game that was HUGE in comparison, but due to time being strained, they had to cut it short and changed small parts to make the story work and to make the areas and gameplay work as well.
I'm not sure if that was intended, because in early versions of the game Strelok was simply called "Gunslinger" which is the translation for the word Strelok in Russian. But it is true that many things were cut from the game, so perhaps you're right.
@@anomalousdugout9557 one of my long time friends traveled a lot and loved games and decided to travel to huge game companies and small ones as well and met with different developers and game story writers alike. he met with the original story writer for Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl and asked some questions about cut content or content that was changed because of time restrictions, and he mentioned the name change and what it was supposed to lead to, as it would create a sort of mystery behind the name. he even mentioned Star Wars and Darth Vader actually being Anakin Skywalker, as the name he gained by losing his original name ment more and at the same time less than his birth name, which added mystery behind it as he explained it. that is why i wrote that. the mor you know, am i right? :)
@@anomalousdugout9557 no problem! i am glad i can share something with the community for once, after just binge watching a lot of your videos and others about Stalker lol. if i find or hear anything else i will be sure to come to you with it. :)
One theory that was obviously debunked was that Prophet/Savior/Astrologer is Redrick Schuhart from Roadside Picnic. The reason it was debunked is obvious but its neat to find things GSC was inspired by.
The story is pretty good but the biggest offender for me is how on earth nobody who knew him didn’t recognise him. Someone suggested they never saw Strelok before without his helmet but that’s stupid. Some of them were good friends and in real life they would have to take off their helmets to have a sip of vodka or some pseudodog chops.
A lot of people cover their face in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Loners, Duty, Freedom, Bandits, CS, Monoliths, etc. all have members with facial cover.
The last mission in CS is to disable Strelok's psy protection, not kill him. Besides, the two PDA models are quite different, so I don't believe that's the case.

Hi, Have you ever heard of Stalkersoup which has parts of all three games, and personnel plus a separate storyline. There are several standalone S.T.A.L.K.E.R games, like Stalkersoup and SGM that have shared parts from the original commercial games yet have interesting storylines. Perhaps a look at some of these would add to your channel. For example Fang and Ghost have interesting extensions to their lives in Stalkersoup etc
@@anomalousdugout9557 Nice to read. It has evolved again to 1.10019.5 and hopefully is near its end of 1.10020 before the Down Loadable Content (DLC) which seems in my opinion to have been talked about for years. Thanks and Regards JB
There is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. MOBILE, for older feature phones made by another company but published by GSC. The protagonist of the game is the Strelok before he became the Strelok. We are a military man tasked with finding and escorting a scientist out of the zone. The ending of the game - Ghost saves the life of the Strelok and gives him a name known to everyone.
Strelok aka the Living Legend Of The Zone who disabled the brain scorcher and labs, his weaponry of the SIG arms but those weapons owepowered as hell but let's get back to the point. The living legend's friends are know as Ghost and Fang, their death caused by a controller i mean ghost lost his fate and Fang killwed by a scar guy ( not the mercenary one). Strelok's age somewhere in 2011 he's almost like 37 years old, in 2012 he's 38 years old and yeah in 2018 he is maybe 44 years old. Ok that's it for now. Ok goodbye ;)
CS takes place before SoC. Strelok made his first trip to the center of the Zone just before CS and his second at the end of CS, and then came back as the Marked One to complete his third trip at the end of SoC.
I don't think so, the other picture in the PDA that is supposed to represent Strelok shows Ghost and his face is quite different. You can also see the difference on his body later on.
In the document hunt in the stalker community, there was mentions of scientists disappearing in the zone. Perhaps the group they came from was Strelok’s scientific group mentioned in the end of COP?
Can this be possible the stranger guy in stalker 2 could be a friend of stalker as they are talking about friendship in the zone and the stranger is talking about killing someone if he is talking about killing strelok then probably he might be a friend of strelok zone gave him a new life( can be some dead friend of strelok )
That's possible, but I believe that we don't have the full context of this scene. The devs themselves said that we don't have enough information just yet to fully understand what is going on, so I guess we'll find out when the game comes out.
@Nines :3 You can take a stalker out of the Zone but you cannot take the Zone out of a stalker. Anomaly mod already builts on the idea that he deserted and made it back into the Zone. They could also pull out the idea that he goes back with a military force on a mission. Or something forces him back. His brainwashing kicks in again and he is drawn into the Zone? We got many, many options to run with. I would be surprised if we do not have to deal with the Monolith or something thats left of them in STALKER 2
Yes, there is. To get it, first talk to Guide at the Cordon (you will get the task to meet him after finding Ghost in lab X16) and then to Doctor in Strelok's stash. Doc will give you the key, and that's the only legit way to unlock the true ending of the game.
