Gorgeous bike. I had an incredible dream build crux. But at higher speeds on the downhills I thought the front end was a bit squirmy compared to my other s-works gravel bike. Then I tested the crux on downhills and was able to see that on speed runs the diverge style frame was actually faster on the downhills due to how much harder I could pedal it on the downhills without the front end feeling squirmy. I think specialized could fix this bike by increasing the slack by 2 degrees on the larger frames. The slack is fine on smaller models. As the bike gets larger (58+ size) the front end is too steep. I'm 6ft tall and over 200 pounds.
Awesome build Dave, I’m doing a similar build on my Crux and want to put on the Roval Rapide Cockpit too, but a lot mechanics don’t recommend it even though I’m gonna use it more for road than gravel. Can you share some more details on the cables etc on the cockpit? ✌🏾✌🏾
The Rapide cockpit is spot on mate, not sure why anyone would advise against it?? I used a spacer from MagCad to integrate onto the OEM top cap and its pretty seamless.. Enjoy the bike when its done & thanks for watching,
47mm mate. This was pretty big back in 21/22. There's bikes with bigger clearance available now, but they're fair wedge heavier. 47's are big enough for the terrain I'll be riding on. Thanks for watching.
