The Grossglockner high alpine pass in Austria Part 2 of 3
The Grossglockner is a world famous high alpine pass and many bikers travel a long way to ride it above Austria, in this video its my turn to see what its all about and is the journey to it worth it?
The whole thing is filmed and nothing edited out which is why its in 3 Parts

You were so close another dozen tight steep cobbled switchbacks to the top where cafe and gift shop are but you would not have seen owt so safer to do what you did pal, we got up for the sunrise last year it was stunning😊

I checked it later on google maps, bit gutted i didn't go up further. As you say though the view would have been a let down.

Think on the bright side, if the weather had been clear in early August the traffic would have been awful and you would have spent stuck in traffic queues. At the end of the day it’s a very pretty tourist trap and although the views are great there are dozens of other passes with no crowds and no €30 entry fee. The must do bucket trip locations are so often the place to avoid, if it’s on your list it will be on thousands of other lists as well. Motorcycles are best away from the crowds.

Well there is that. But if the weather had been nice and the sky clear, i could have pulled over and got some great shots with Camera and Drone. As it was, i still enjoyed it and the food at the top was nice 😁

We done the eagles nest on 2 days and both times it was -6 and snowed off, gutted lol

Looks like you missed the spur that takes you to Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, where the main car park, cafe, view of the Grossglockner mountain and the glacier is. That's a blow, but you would have been in the mist anyway by the look of it. Check it out on google street view. Oh well.... Looks like you'll have to go again. 👍

Yea it was all thick mist and cold, we decided a warm coffee and food was the best way forward. I want to do it again though :) in sunshine hopefully.

The KTM museum is in the multi story car park at the Glacier end. as well as a small car museum with lots of Trabants.

The answer is No it’s not the mountain causing bad visibility. We did Gross and it was brilliant weather up and down.

What date did you do it? Myself and the group I was with did it on the 8th August. The visability coming down couldn't have been more than 20 yards 🤤. It was thet bad that the cloud was actually inside the tunnels, we did it the opposite way to you two, I was doing about ten mph with my all my indicators/flashers on, really scary 😨. And people ask ' why do you love biking' ? Answer, because we are daft! 🙄. Looking forward to your next instalment.

It was recorded on 5th August... you know at the warmest time of the year 🤣 Yea visibility was a shocker in parts, shame i really wanted to stop more and take in the views. I had 3 fully charged batteries for the drone all charged up especially.... maybe next time.

Would have been amazing on a clear day at the top 😢 I had similar weather one day in the Picos but I was lucky as I had time to do the N621 a few times 😂 stay safe both 👍

@@colsmusic Sunny sounds good lol I was in lincolnshire a couple of weeks ago, and i am staying there next weekend at Laceby, the wifes booked a cabin... knowing my luck it will rain 🤣

The cobbled road is up to bikers point, bit dodgy in the wet like,got a cracking 360 clip on me iphone from there , thankfully it was sunny

Did the pass in 2022 in rain all of the way, on the way back went up Bikers point in a thunderstorm, water flowing across the road at the hairpins. Was back in early June 2023 and it was sunny all the way up.
