Hi everyone! Welcome to my first ever Gwen jungle guide. This is just part 1 of 2 parts. It covers what I usually do when I play Gwen jungle and how to get an S on her! Hope you guys convert and/or have fun playing her! :D

After editing thought: I don't really use cosmic these days so I didn't put it in the itemization list but I imagine it would be good if you want to kite melees / close the gap on range champs. Probably good with ghost and approach velocity instead of cosmic insight. Or if you want to go for a haste build to have your W up quicker.
Disclaimer 2: This is usually how I play her in the jungle. There are a bunch of Gwungle mains who probably play her differently! There's not much out there so I wanted to share a video for people who are emerald and below and want to try her out for the first time ^_^

Wow this is a very informative video! I'm usually a Gwen top player but I've been considering playing her more in the jungle since watching your videos.

Glad it was helpful! Gwungle is definitely easy to climb out of iron-emerald because no one really invades you or keeps up with the invasions in those elos (unless they are smurfing)

Really good guide for new Gwen jg players. The only thing I could complain about is the matchups tierlist, but I understand that it was more subjective. ( And im really picky with league guides so be proud of yourself).

Yeah tierlists are all subjective! I have had one of my viewers say Yi is easy peasy but to me -- personally -- he is difficult xd Glad you enjoyed the rest at least!

@@Faedreamlol master yi/bel'vet are statisticly one of biggest gwen jg hardest matchups. Kinda unplayable vs good players

Oh yes that's very good into teams that can kite Gwen out! The new cosmic drive got buffs so it is very beneficial this patch and lets her stick onto people better too! I've always liked that item with approach velocity ^_^ & I have been going scorchclaw pup some games for the slow too but find that blue jungle pet is never bad since it gives Gwen some tempo, escape, and movement from bushes!

Love the guide, also screw tryndamere. Main reason I cant pick gwen as often as I would like is because the enemy top laner will always try to counter pick it and it can be hell for you in the late game. Teemo, Tryn, Jax, Nasus, I want to leave. Also, Ive heard of a strat that I havent tried myself personally but another high elo gwen jg player said that he likes to put 3 points into e before upgrading q past level 1, and then maxxing q. This only applies if you expect to be fighting more early on, but apparently its a lot better for early game fighting. But again take it with a grain of salt since I havent tried it myself. Waiting for part 2!

Yeah the Tryndamere matchup into Gwen is a crime. Why'd riot make their kits so imbalanced ;-; It's like an autoloss if the enemy locks in Trynd (unless your team has CC, which is rare in soloqueue adventures) Teemo i find you can eventually outscale and onetap his butt Ooooh, nice, I'll try that out in a game and make a video on it to see how it feels. Let me know your thoughts if you ever try it out too! We need more data. The Gwungle community is smol

idk if this is placebo or not, but I usually take exhaust tp into Trynd top, and he has a lot of trouble all-inning. I feel like I have more kill pressure too, cause he can’t just run away

@@deleanor9665 I've never played top lane before but I've heard people running exhaust, ghosting when he ghosting, buying steel caps, and getting Zhonya's ASAP to wait out his ult to survive. I play jungle though so I never run exhaust. I just pick Lillia into him if he first picks cuz she can counter him with her burn damage, her speed, and she can sleep him ^_^

Long time Gwen enjoyer. Back in Season 11(?) I really enoyed playing Tank Gwen Top with Frostfire Gauntlet, Demonic Embrace and Fimbulwintwer. Since then I've been playing more standard builds on her, still bruisery, but not mostly Tank. Never really earnestly tried her in Jungle since to me she mostly felt like a worse Shyvana that scales better, but your insight is really nice to see. I've been having great success with another off-meta pick in Jungle (Shen) and always love seeing people have fun with off meta picks, especially since my main is another off meta pick, Tryndamere in Mid (don't enjoy him in Top or Jungle nearly as much).

Gwen is very squishy because most of her builds rely heavily on AP and if you don't time your W well, it might be over for her. It's a very small window in time for her to fight safely! It's hard, I wish she had more build variety but they won't make AP bruiser items like AD bruiser items because of Akali's existence lol. And tank Gwen in general isn't that great right now, she still gets blown up and does no damage. I mostly win games into an enemy Shyvana as Gwen! They are very similar, that's true. And I only played Gwen in the jungle bc I just love her design so much but I have no idea how to lane xd I went 1/10 my first time on Gwen top and I don't think I want to go back haha!

@@Faedreamlol I've been experimenting a bit with Spear of Shojin on Gwen and it actually doesn't feel all that bad. It gives a *lot* of Haste for your Q and E for a second item and you don't actually lose all that much damage compared building Riftmaker. Your passive stacks it and benefits from it, so you actually reach full stacks in just 4 basic attacks, much quicker than Riftmaker, which takes a whole 10 seconds. The damage is about 4-10% lower if comparing both fully stacked, and you can technically build both. Definitely not optimal if building Deathcap but if you're anticipating a shorter game it seems viable if you only expect the game to go to 2 or 3 items.

@@765craven4 I think going the triple tonic route would accelerate Gwen's E cooldown without sacrificing the cost of building AP. AP is just too important in her kit. And maybe go hail of blades to stack her Q faster too. I might try AD spear of Shojin Gwen in a normal and hopefully won't get reported xD

@@Faedreamlol With Spear you would in theory just build it Nashor's into it then more AP. Kinda like how Shyvana builds nowadays. From my testing Spear of Shojin second offers comparable (slightly lower) damage to Riftmaker second with significantly shorter Cooldowns in E and Q early. Then you'd build Riftmaker or whatever other situational items you need third. If the plan is for Deathcap third I wouldn't bother. It doesn't tend to perform significantly differently from Riftmaker second from the 5-10 games I've done with it, so I would think it would really come down to how much you value the stats on Riftmaker compared to the extra ability haste Shojin provides.

Diamond in less than three years is super impressive! I've been playing for a little bit less and only hit Platinum so far. I like Fleet on Gwen JG, I think it's only worse in early game duels since late game you have enough damage anyway.

i am new to gwen and i am very concerned about my team tilting early for not ganking for them and her weak ganks. How much stronger does the fleet of foot rune page make your ganks on a scale of 1-10, 10 being extreme. I ask because conqueror seems like it is the superior run all around.

Just mute everyone Play at your own pace You know your champion better than theem Like Shyvana also powerfarms until level 6 Gwen wants 6+ Nashors to start being useful

The fleetfoot work rune got nerfed a couple times since this guide came out so it isn't very useful anymore. Conqueror is better now!

@Faedreamlol do I still gank pre nashors but after 6. Or do I just only farm.

@@georgioskondi416just to confirm when you say power farm it's strictly ignoring my team until I have nashors or would I still gank at 6 plus but without nashors? Also what time should I look to have nashors? As a goal.
