We are days away from casting the lines and the projects are piling up! We are busy getting everything done we can. We are reminded that fall is closing in, as the different groups of Loopers make their way trough Ludington as they head south. We are scrambling to finish up and join them!

How has the anchor splice held up. Would worry that two strands and no chafe protection might be an issue. Love following you guys along!!!!

Hello! There is an app called NEBO. It tracks your trips, allows you to connect with other boaters who have it. you can see where they are. It also helped sometimes to see where people where staying...You can message boaters, add them as friends and share pictures as you pass each other. We loved having it!

Did you get Starlink RV or boat? Boat seems to cost way more for hardware. Thoughts?

Helpful video! We are so glad we pushed forward and are now past St Louis. Although we don't have reservations at Hoppies, we're headed down with several other boats about our size so we will probably anchor together at Kaskaskas and hopefully the weather doesn't get too nasty with us all so we can make it south! You got this!

Have you tested the bag to see if it floats with everything in it? I traditionally leave the air those style bags to aid in flotation. Safe travels. Hope to see you out there.

I 100% agree. Sometimes we feel like we are over doing it a bit...but then so what....would rather be prepared and never need it than to need it and not have prepared. Excellent comment!

One thing I learned when coloring my chain was to color it remembering RED - WHITE - BLUE: Red=25'. White=50' and Blue=75'. So when you see the second RED color; you know that you are at 100'. Easy to remember!

Good advice! We tried to run a similar plan...but we used zip ties instead of paint and the white didnt show up well against the chain...now they are all crazy colors! But it works!

Are the Chicago locks only in operation a certain time of the year?

This were shut down for repairs for a long time. This created a back log of commercial and recreational traffic to lock through. So all the Loopers basically had scheduled days to get through with their groups. Weather and timing to make this happen was difficult! Thank you for the great question, and thank you for watching!😊

You can never be over cautious and you guys are doing what makes you comfortable safety wise,after 21years in the Australian Navy and rescuing many unprepared novice and not so novice sailors at sea they all had the same defeated look on their faces when rescued from the ocean so I congratulate you both your boat is ready

We love our Starlink, we used it while traveling in our RV and put it in storage for when we find our boat. Great idea on the ditch bags. Yay window is done, woo hoo. I absolutely can’t wait for y’all to hit the loop. As I shared with you in prior videos we are getting a 480 as well. I’m curious much fuel she will burn in the different cruise situations and the bridge clearance. See ya in the video release, have fun.

So far she is riding like a dream! 9 knots is our best cruise speed , but we had her up to 25-30. We did not take the down town chicago route.. our bridge clearance is 17'6. It was going to be close, and we decided we could always go to Chicago for the weekend living in ludington😊

This was some really great information! I have now added things to our ditch bag list (like a back up and dinghy bag!). One comment, I try not to use cardboard storage containers (glow sticks) as they tend to rot and/or mildew if the get damp. Love your channel!
