In this video, i almost died in the desert..... Not much footage to explain how it all happened.... A experience like this shifts youre focus, going from making beautifull videos about traveling and riding offroad, to breaking down, getting and getting heat related ilness, this is one of the lowest point in my travel, and a truly terrifying experience
Note that this track has been done by me a few months ago, but due to some shocking circumstances i wasn't able to upload! Keep watching for more!

Bro im going to give you a solid peice of advice (up 2 you if you take this seriously) lose that hot heavy riding jacket when in central Australian deserts, switch to a moto cross jersey and light armor as you are using far to much energy overheating yourself, also a good trick for energy management out there is this litte rule i follow to the letter, when you make more than 2mistakes in 2minutes it means time to stop for 10min break. Dont keep pushing through mistakes as this is wasting more energy you cannot regain, rest,go again, rest, go again ect. This will prevent the feedback loop of dropping the bike due to fatigue then using more energy picking it up creating more fatigue causing you to drop it more and more..great vid, awsome gutsy ride, i wish you the best of luck out there m8, ride smart, not hard and you will get through anything. Kind regards JB 👍. P.s also keep a packet of quicksteel in your kit always as it can be used to patch radiators and engine cases if damaged.

Hey, True about the leather jacket! wasn't the best choice at all! As you said the 2 minute 2 mistake rule, i follow this one too! Somehow i still ended up overheating, probably cause i kept going for too long! Things just went very wrong here.... Thanks for the advice, and thanks for watching! I appreciate the input, and you taking the time to comment on em! Thanks!

@@Adventure_Fever brother your doing great, ultimately there is no escaping the effects of the heat out there, if you are not using a hydration pack I'd also suggest you do, this will allow you to have constant small sips of water while riding instead of a big drink when you stop, try for 200mills of water every 15-20mins as your body will absorb it at this rate far better than a gulp every hour or so. Never say die no matter how tough it gets ay. Your doing well m8

Once the temperature rises it does not take much physical effort to become severely fatigued. Unsupported sand riding, plus broken & now unbalanced bike only adds to the risk. Glad you kept your head & communications. Wishing you all the best.

Wow 😮 very sobering video good to see you got help in time. Love the desert 🐪 and have done these trails like you many times and like you i usually go solo. But it is very remote and if your luck runs out it can be very harsh. Hope you are ok heatstroke is no joke and can limit your ability to think properly. Like you I learned my lesson about hard panniers early on, thankfully in a much less serious trip and never used them again. And true to script never any shade when you get a flat 😂 Good to see another kinder spirit subscribed
@Adventure_Fever
@Adventure_Fever 4 месяца назад
Yes..... Shit hit the fan..... As you said, luck ran out..... Hard panniers arent the worst, however these ones are shit..... I think next time i'm either going whit diffrent hard ones, or soft panniers..... Thanks for commenting and watching my video! Really appreciate it! Stay tuned for more!
@tonyrdr7207
@tonyrdr7207 4 месяца назад
@@Adventure_Fever The hard panniers have many good points security ease of use and versatility you can even use them as a table chair etc as you very well know. Yes in a heavy fall they will deform badly and break mounts and racks to the point of them being not repairable at times unlike the soft panniers which can be at least temporarily repaired with just some good thread. But that is not the reason I went over to hard panniers. First problem they are hard and have no give at all if you fall just right they can crush your ankle causing a compound fracture which is the end of the trip or as happened to me damage my Achilles tendon which took ages to heal and to be honest will never be 💯. Also as I have seen many times in the heavy sand of the desert you can get your foot trapped under the bike and it is much easier and less painful to wiggle your foot out of it. And finally with the rackless system the bike is a lot slimmer and if the front of the bike can get through the back can also. This can make life easier in overgrown trails like the Anne Beadell and especially the Canning and also in the tighter trails like some sections of Cape York where the panniers protrude and can get in the way. At the end of the day it is a personal choice and will admit I do miss some of the advantages of the hard panniers but after much back and forth forth in 35 years of remote touring I have settled on soft rackless system.

I've only had heat stroke once, and that was on a very short ride between Bathurst and Lithgow (only about 40 minutes). It was 40 degrees, but what made it hell on earth was the very hot, dry wind blowing - I literally know what it's like to be roasted in a fan-assisted oven! It took a lot of water and a couple of shakes at Maccas to cool down enough to go on. Thank God it got a lot cooler once I got to the Blue Mountains, but I made sure to stop at numerous garages on the way and get more liquid in me. By the way, I assume you had a satellite phone to call for help, which is an essential bit of kit when you're doing what you were doing. Well done getting though!!

Glad you are o.k. I ride Honda Rally 300 here in Indonesia (older, scared guy I guess). Last year my friend and I did 350 km through the Moroccan desert. We rented your Tenere and the XT660, less luggage and two guys. The Tenere went down in that sand so many times (so top heavy, we could not keep it upright once it started to go), the XT only few times. Two guys to pick up the beast. Yep the fans kicking in, pouring water on rad, temp light on and even cracked and broken rack...........I was dreaming of my 155kg Rally. Be safe and good luck. Edit, even stock power is fun in dirt, on road the bike pulls good to about 90 km h, it then falls flat, will do 110-120 but it's slow getting there. I also have a 250 version of the 300 here, tax limits and such. The 286 cc motor gets longer stroke, it will feel bit better then my "short stroke" 249cc. Hope this helps a bit.
@Adventure_Fever
@Adventure_Fever 4 месяца назад
Pffw yes, the rally sounds good in those kind of situations, do you not get bothered by the ammount of power the Rally lacks? Would love to hear youre thoughts on that!
@pawelwolski1316
@pawelwolski1316 4 месяца назад
@Adventure_Fever I have looked a lot for the dirt oriented, around the world bike. It has to be light, reliable and light. The Rally is it (can't get the DR650 here in Indonesia). You are not using the 45 hp your Tenere makes when riding in dirt (BTW your Tenere was way up on my list.....till I went into the Marco sand, like I said even the XT660 was so much better there). The Rally would rip through that sand u were riding in, falling and picking up is easy. Now the bad news, Honda sells unfinished and not ready bike..........It comes with bubble gum suspension, this is a must fix. As for stock power, it's tuned for lower rpm torque, restricted intake track. Stock bike runs out of air at about 8000 rpm, it's 286 cc, it likes rpm. There are numerous fixes for that, some not that $$$$. These motors are good for lots of kms, it is a Honda. Check out @ShonkyProductions, he has awesome, hands on type of Rally build. For suspension, I just discovered MPE Suspension, I think they have good budget minded suspension. It's bit of a pain, it's a shame Honda delivers a wet spaghetti from the factory, but with some mods, you end up with the proper, around the world, light, very dirt oriented travel machine. Other than some older bikes, nothing like the Rally exists. Not Honda fan boy, I actually am passed at Honda for delivering this bike as is. Hope this helps. Be safe.

Be informed. Never go into the outback, with just one other person.Particularly when you haven't known them long. Yes Australia/ans can be lovely and adventurous but it can also be dangerous as well, people can be affected with things like ptsd and get angry when they drink. There has been a lot that make people angry at the moment. Yes, there are people in Australia that can turn like that, particularly when they are affected by different things. Isolation can be hard, its a harsh climate, there are problems in our nation that need to be sorted, but people at times, don't like to address them. And always if you go anywhere in Australia, let people know where you are going and with who, particularly with the authorities. There has also been a rise with violence in our nation, by different groups, ,but majority of Australians don't like it. Australians do have a preference, being calm, patient, fun, ,peaceful, quiet, along with silent, while others like to be rowdy and people can be provoked..it is always a mix. Hope you have a swift recovery, and enjoy being at home while you recuperate from the experience. Always be informed.

Mate, you said at 6AM you had been riding for an hour and a half. So sunrise was at about 4:30 AM. You absolutely attempted this trip at the wrong time of year. I did the Anne Beadell in late May and it was beautiful weather with max temps in the high 20s. Did you not do any research before attempting it? Everything and everybody tells you not to do it in the hotter months. From memory the signs at each end also tell you that. Combined with inappropriate riding gear and an overloaded bike it is no wonder you had trouble. Europeans often come to Australia to escape the northern hemisphere winter, which mean it is our summer. Traveling in central Australia in summer has cost some people their lives. It is about as dumb as Aussies going hiking in the European Alps and taking nothing more than a light cardigan to keep warm. Is it worth risking your life for RU-vid views?
@Adventure_Fever
@Adventure_Fever 4 месяца назад
Hey @motowot! This track hasn't been done in summer, reason it is posted now is due to the fact i couldn't edit my files! Inappropriate riding gear and a overloaded bike can sometimes be necessary, yet its just a matter of opinion what you think is overloaded! If you see the length off the track and realize how much stuff there is to take, you do sometimes not have much options! Thanks for having a look at my video! Please be sure to have a look at the other ones i posted to! This way you can find out my videos are not at all about risking live for you tube views!
